Bad Golfer
I had a pretty good outing yesterday. I had 6 of 18 greens in regulation and still didn't come away with a bird. Between hitting a driver off the tee and putting it is killing my score. This was on hole 7. The closest I have ever been from a hole in one. If you look close you can see the divet and the ball rolled past the pin. 157 yard 7 iron. Kwalks18
Closet I’ve been to a hole in One! It was a 130 Yard Par 3. It’s a local course I like to play when I’m not looking to keep score. I know the course well and it’s a good challenge between tight fairways, and water, but it’s easy to get out of trouble all around fun course just to get out and golf. I hit pitching wedge in dead online. I said to my buddy well the ball was in flight. “It’s right at it” it landed about a foot away bounced up hit the pin and landed again a foot away. I walked away with birdie and a smile on my face. Another hole that reminds me why I love golf Bad Golfer, JerryB, Sluggo42 and 2 others 5 Quote K Walker

David George
I played in a Senior open at Ponteland yesterday and holed my second shot at the third for an eagle. So, easy to choose shot of the day? Actually, no. Shot of the day came at the par 3 second. Bunkered my tee shot right and past the hole. i have 18 feet of bunker to carry downhill, 12 inches of fringe then 25 feet downhill breaking right to left. I'm surveying the shot wondering if I can just keep it on the green! Tried to get a good mental picture of carrying maybe two feet out of the bunker. Laid the face of the 58 wide open, got as low down to the ball as I could and commited. Landed it right where I wanted to, it checked a bit and started to roll and break towards the hole. Horseshoed out of the right side of the hole to 15 inches . It's nice to remember being a good player . Birdies at 7, 12 and 13 and one with my shot on the stroke 1 hole number 16 got my partner John and I to 42 points stableford, probably a couple short of the prizes but a most enjoyable round. Difficult course set up, some of the hole locations were beyond last round US Open, and this for us over 60s!, but a lot of really good swings so looking forward to the season proper with a lot of confidence. archship
Yesterday, I played my normal 9 holes after work on Wild Wing Avocet. I was having a fairly pedestrian round, until I got to the par 4 sixth hole, the most difficult one on the course. I hit a decent drive followed by a 5-wood that ended up in a deep hollow about 20 yards to the left of the green. My feet were 3 -4 inches above the ball, but I made great contact with the 60 degree and the ball landed about 10 feet from the pin, took the slope curving toward it and hopped into the cup. I followed that up with another normal birdie on the par 3 eighth to finish with a 40 for the day. JerryB
My hole/shot of the round yesterday was probably the par five sixth. My driver on this hole suddenly switched from draw to fade but I managed to just clear the river. It was in some deep rough, though. I pulled my hybrid with the intent to just advance it and get it back on the fairway. I hit it clean and it actually rolled through the green onto the other side. If I hadn't flubbed the pitch I would have had a birdie look. Once again, if I stop trying to kill the ball, good things usually happen. GolfSpy_KFT
Took the whole family out for a round yesterday afternoon (6 & 3 year old, my wife and I). We only made it through 7 holes as the boys were tired and hungry, which was fine as we were just out to have some fun and enjoy the weather. I had two shots that were highlights for me. The first was on a 340 yard Par 4. Hit my driver 260ish yards to leave about 80 to the middle of the green. Best tee shot I've ever hit on that particular hole. Second highlight was a 150 yard approach over a creek with my 8i to a front pin location. Hop and stop to about 3 feet from the stick. Two man scramble league starts next week Tuesday, so looking to have some good carry over to that league. I really struggled last year in it, but my ball striking has been much better this year after working on improving my swing path (still a work in progress). JerryB
A pretty blah round, but the par three fourth at Buena Vista was pretty nice for me. After a rough start to the round I teed up with my seven wood. When everything falls into place (all too rare), this club produces my most satisfying shot. Just a beautiful, high arc that drops and stops nicely. Sluggo42
I’ll hurry these up for a quicker read… had an eagle last Thursday on a par 5, and missed a repeat eagle the next day on a lip out. todays shots were a 9 iron on 10, a 7 iron on 11, and then an 8 iron on 12- missed all birdie putts. Actually a 9 iron on 13 as well. Well I guess I shouldn’t omit the 3 nine wood shots that were soaring beauties as well… but missed all those birdie putts too- come to think of it, I didn’t make a single birdie all day but the irons were just soooooo crispy today- so fun richk9holes, Vegan_Golfer_PNW, JerryB and 2 others 4 1 Quote TSr2 on tensi blue stiff Speedzone 3-wood on Tensi blue S Epic Max 5 and 7 woods on HZRDUS Reg flex Paradym 9 wood on HZRDUS reg flex P770 / P790 combo set on Ventus R-6 shafts 6-AW T22 Denim Copper 54°, 58° on Kinetic X Trajectory ER3 or, E.A.S. #4 (“Fang” or “Adele”) ProV1x, or, Maxfli Tour X .Org 14 cart bag Adidas Tour 360 , or Sketcher shoes

Siamese Moose
#14 at Indian Ridge (Oxford, OH) is a downhill, dogleg left par 5. I can't carry the bunkers off the tee that guard the corner, but hit a perfect drive that skirted them and was still able to catch the downhill bounce for another 20 yards. Now I had 200 to the front edge, but off a downhill lie with 180 to carry a creek. Over the hazard but short of the green is not a good option, and the pin was way back, so just reaching the green was not a good play either. I know that back position is in a place where the green doesn't hold shots well, so I punched a 9 to the far right edge of the fairway to improve the angle so the green might hold. Hit an easy gap wedge that only released about 15', to 5' below the hole. Easy putt for birdie. My partner actually commented, "That was four perfect shots!" (It was easy for him to say that, as he also birdied.) JerryB and GolfSpy_BEN 2 Quote Moose, my cat, is Siamese

It is my home course and I play there almost every day. But I understand why you might feel that love hate with the course, it can eat you up really fast if you aren't hitting the ball straight.
