revkev
Nothing remarkable today but I made the two most exquisite up and downs on 1 and 3 on Sunday afternoon. They led to a 79 on a set of tees with a course rating of 73.8. That's the equivalent of 75 on an average course. GolfSpy_APH
Had first aid training at the course today as a part of work and me and one of the other Marshall's there decided to head out for 9 afterwards. Grabbed our clubs and cart and met up with two other members. No warm up other then a few putts and after sitting and listening for nearly 7 hours was pretty stiff. Also decided to throw the epic sub zero in the bag as driver is really the only club I'm still trying to figure out what to game... Anyway. Back 9 start so hole 10 is a par 4 about 375 with a sloping landing right to left and then heads down hill to the green. I normally hit a good drive to about the 100 then have a wedge in which is tough because it plays short and going long is death off a bank and the water. Today was a different story, there was a good 14mph wind (thank you arccos) so I stepped with the the epic and took a rip at it. Went good and straight and thought perfect I should be about 75 yards in. However to my surprise I had run it onto the green about 12 or so feet to the pin. Shock doesn't begin to describe that drive. Maybe I finally found my driver! Unfortunately missed the Eagle right edge, but got my birdie shot 1 over for the 9 holes Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk Sluggo42, revkev and PING Apologist #9 3 Quote as of Nov 6, 2023 (Past WITB) Driver: Paradym TD w/ GD ADDI 6X Driver Shootout! Golfspy_CG2
Ok this won't be a big deal to most of you. But having gone though my fittimg/lesson with Ian at TXG last week. I came out of it with a stronger grip, more neutral path and squaring the ckubfsce. Tonight it all came together on one glorius shot. I was 129 out on my 3rd shot into a 565 yard par 5. To a front left pin guarded by a bunker short and hazard to the left. I aimed toward the right center of the green figured I'd be safe no matter if it drew, reverted to my old fade or stayed straight. It was a perfect draw that disappeared over the bunker and I knew it was close. Got up to find it about 8 feet beyond the pin. With the ball mark a good two feet behind it. Wish I could have seen the spin After hitting cases for 30 years, the site of a draw was like an Awakening. Ha And I topped it off by draining the left to right 8 footer for bird! Pharm Boy
Hole #4, par 5 today, after a good drive, center fairway, had a 240 yard shot to the green. Picked up the 5 wood and launched it. TR1PTIK
I played Friday and broke 80 for the second time so I could probably pick almost any shot from round, but I'm going to say that my shot of the day was my approach on 8. I was in the middle of the fairway just a little over 90 yards out with a slight breeze behind me. Pin was tucked back left on a green that slopes away quite severely if you go long. I pulled my 56* Vokey and fired right at the flag landing with a quick check and stopping inside of 5'. Everything about that shot just felt pure. I struck the ball nicely and the wedge glided just glided through the turf. It was literally what I would want every iron and wedge shot to feel like. HighFade
I went to Vegas for a biennial family reunion. So of course we took dad golfing on Father's Day. Shots of the day: #1 - On a long par 3, I pulled my shot left into the rocks. These are the kind of rock gardens you might see in your neighbor's front yard. I hit a SW from a downhill rocky lie from 30yards, and onto the green to about 20 feet. Missed the putt, but I was really happy with pulling off the shot. #2 - The last hole is a 530 yard par 5 (Revere, Concord if anyone's played it). I hit driver to about 280, where it rolled down an extremely steep fairway towards the green. It finally stopped about 60 yards from the green. I ended the day with a 470 yard drive! PING Apologist #9
"Best shot of the day"? Had many yesterday followed by mostly disappointing approach shots while playing a 3-on-1 scramble... Driver? Mostly good, but with a couple of wayward f-ups. (it really does shoot "freakin' laser beams out of its freaking head...) My new 58* PING Glide 2.0 Stealth wedge? Absolute magic! (well, there was those two "others", but this thread is about the "best" ones, so...) Hole #6, par-4 with second shot from around 75-yds. Struck it pure, high and straight. Hit about 8-ft from the pin left, rolled up a bit and came back to a birdie putt from 5-ft. We made that one! Approach shot laying on the front apron about 15-yds away from the cup. Uphill, but straight for bird. Playing partners opted to putt. One got to 6-ft, other beyond 10-ft. I chip and it hit the back of the hole after two small hops...Damn, if the pin was in, it maybe coulda made it...Pared. <_ style="font-size:14px;"> Had another chip from just on the fringe that I opted to hit that way before my team tried to putt it on. Gently stroke it and it hit just on and trickled down going left-to-right toward the cup and actually hit our competitor's ball and moved to within 4-ft while displacing his ball from around 5-ft to more like 9-ft. (BTW, I need a ruling on that...) It was a funny day where my 2 best clubs seemed to do the most positive damage. I had to send the fairway woods into the penalty box early on and ignored them (and my hybrid) in lieu of my irons which seemed to work better that day... What a stupid game we play..!!!
