That's awesome, congratulations!  Love the annotated flag as a keepsake.  Did the course offer this to you?  Did you have to buy one?  What is the protocol for this at most golf courses?

The protocol at this course is they give you a flag then post your name in the local news paper. I grabbed a sharpie and impromptu added the statistics then got the guys working the course to sign it for me.

Today's shot of the day was an 8 iron over a tree out of US Open type rough that hit the cart path and bounced onto the green. Proceeded to 3 putt for double bogey just to remind myself how much I sucked today lol.

First round with my full bag back together and my driver got me in trouble on this hole. It was back to business as usual for me where I could've been 3-5 shots better but just wasn't.

 

Anywho, this was a definite highlight for the round and the irons I'm testing:

 

 

This was one hell of a shot. Had to get under the limbs of the tree I was under but over the next tree (limbs in my back swing too.) Played a fade into wind from the right. Couldn't see most of the flight but I picked up a little when it was above tree #2 and saw it land center of the green and pull back.

 

Didn't make the putt, but it wasn't that easy of a putt either (18ft from wrong tier). I consider this a par saved because I basically put myself in jail with the tee ball.

I can't say that I played a great round yesterday, but I can say I hit quite a few good shots. Hit 3 wood off the deck three times and all of them just went. I also hit a gap wedge to 1, 4, and 18 feet and also used it to chip in from 20 feet. I would say that the shot to 18 feet led to my shot of the day. Made a right to left putt for my only birdie of the day.

Shot of the day today was a downhill par 3 during a matchplay event. The match was dormie and after my competitor came up about 15' short of the green, I managed to stick it right on the front with a front pin location. I was able to win the hole and push the match to 18 where I wound up hitting my worst shot of the day... I thinned it out of a greenside bunker and air mailed the green to lose the match. Not the best note to end on, but this was my first competitive event and I think I did pretty well overall.

Today’s shot was a 40’ chip from the rough just behind the green on a 148 yd Par 3. Chipped to the green then watched as the ball ran downhill left to right into the hole. I used my Hogan Ptx 45* wedge.

My best shot was my tee shot on 10. It is a 325 yard par 4. I had a 30 mph wind at my back so I pulled driver thinking, let's get this close for an easy chip and putt. Well, I nutted it and it ended up 30' pin high left. Two putted for an easy birdie!

First shot was a 270 bomb (for me), then last hole my approach was a 114 that I punched up to 4 feet, and yes! Made the putt haha

You'd think my shot of the day would be the one that led to my only birdie, but it was actually a recovery. After a great tee shot on the Par 5 18th I duffed my hybrid into the trees (I'm definitely getting rid of that club - cost me too many strokes lately). My only play was to punch it low under a tree, but since I was uphill from the tree I had to play it even lower than normal and hope it would have enough juice to roll up to the raised green. I could not have executed that shot any better and I really didn't think it was going to make it at first, but somehow that ball just kept on rolling until it was about 3' onto the putting surface. Easy 2-putt part from there.
