PING Apologist #9
At my home course a couple of weeks ago (last time I've been able to play), my approach shot (3'rd) into the par-4 7th went long and just absolutely plugged into the sliver trap that encompasses the entire backside of the green. Actually not a bad place to be considering the alternative could have been flying that sand and bouncing OB over the road that is protected only by a 4' tall wide-slat fence. I just wished the lie was better, cuz man it was totally buried, and right behind the lip to boot by maybe 6-8". Grabbed my trusty 58*, dug in and simply blasted it out nice-n-clean. Unfortunately I had no control of it really and it flew just right of the pin that was cut on the top tier and rolled out way below to 25' or so. Did manage to 2-putt and get out of there with a 6 so for me that was a win. QuadBogey
I was playing the Links golf course (it’s not really a links course, but good layout) at San Destin,FL for the first time yesterday. I was having a horrible round - way over handicap, but managed to salvage something decent out of the last 5 holes. Last long shot of the day was from 170 yds to about 8’ with my 3 hydrid (choked down a bit). Tap in the for the par. patrickleeleep
Missed this thread somehow. Played the other day and had a few memorable shots. 1st- Par 4 into the wind. Ballooned a drive into the right rough with that leaves you behind a big hill and some tall bush that leaves the green blind. Had about 170 yards and thought I'll pull out a 7iron and try to give it my all. Gave a little more spine tilt and swung out of my shoes and it so pure. The ball cleared the hill and bush so I run around the corner just in time to see it land a few yards passed the pin and roll out to the edge of the green. Two putt for par but I was happy. 2nd- 550 or so yard par 5 thats slightly downhill. One of those holes you get on the tee box and want to smash the driver and usually push it right or pull it left because you swing too hard. I had been hitting drives pretty well for the most part so I figured I'll put a little more into this one. Tee'd it high and let it fly. Driving up in the cart it shows on the gps how long your shot was from whatever tee you were at and I was getting closer to the ball and it said 260 yards but still had a ways to get to the ball. I pull up next to the ball and look. 330 yards. Hot damn I was ecstatic! (Skulled the hybrid from 215 out following the drive and wedged it in from 60 yards. Two putt par) 3rd- 16th Par 4. Skinny fairway with some perfectly placed bunkers that also have some tall palm trees in a line that if you dont hit the fairway you'll be trying to sneak in between the palms to get on the green. Of course I push it a little right and leave it in some heavy rough just short of a bunker and in front of me, the line of palms. I was about 145 out from the pin. I pulled 9 iron to get something up there. I hit it clean and squeezed it in between the palms to get on in two and off course, two putt par from about 12 feet. kardboard.kid, Sluggo42 and MattF 3 Quote Driver- 2016 M2 12* Tensei Red Stiff Wood(s)- G400 5 Wood 16.9*/ 7 Wood 21.1* Alta CB Stiff Irons- JPX 900 Forged 6-GW NS Pro 950GH Wedges- RTX 3 54* 588 RTX 2.0 58* RTX 4 64* Putter- Spider Tour Black Instagram- @patrickleeleep

STUDque
Woweee Wow Wow! Good thing the title of this isn't "Best shot of the day" because this was quite a terrible shot that worked out marvelously. Based on my play over the previous 4.5 holes, I didn't deserve it either....unless due theory counts for something. Ok quick stage set. Went out for a lunch 9, shot lights out for first 3 holes, bogeyed the next 4, quad on 8, then come to 9. Duck hook left, get back in play over trees, then skull it over the green. For par.... SLAM DUNK I caught the ball way too clean and launched it 3 times further than I intended. After the pin, the green runs downhill and would've run to the other side of the green. Lucky for me, it struck the high on the flagstick (red circle) and disappeared straight down in the cup. I stood there in stunned silence hoping someone saw that. No one did but OMG I couldn't believe what happened. It's hard to feel good about this par because there was no display of skill on the entire hole No pictures on the scorecard right? I've been trying to figure out the physics on this how it's even possible. This is some Tiger Woods Golf glitchy goodness. I guess it hit the point where the diameter on the stick starts to narrow, on the way down, then angled just perfect into the cup (PS it was a tight squeeze getting the ball out). The wind was in my face, the flag stick was leaning towards me so I suppose those helped too. 00sportsman, bardle, Shankster and 4 others 4 3 Quote In my Pisa, riding on a 3.5+ G410+ EXS 5W King F7 Hy i500 5-GW Equalizer 56/60 Heppler Ketsch

PING Apologist #9
Par-4 7'th at the Ranch. It plays to about 371 with a hcp of 4. Third (I originally stated 2'nd shot...my bad...second shot that was a solid 7i right at it was knocked down by a damn branch!) shot with my 9-iron from around 110-yds, nice strike on it and it just popped up nicely. Landed just right of the hole by about 9-ft and beyond it by about 3-ft. Rolled straight back to around pin high. Fellow playing partner watched if from just off the edge and was astounded by its spin action...Made the par! edingc
This was my best one from Sunday's round, on the final hole. Dog leg right, with a big tree on the corner, so no driver. Had been hitting the 5 iron great all day, so I aimed at the tree playing a slight draw. Executed perfectly (though with leaves later in the season I may have had some trouble). Very uphill approach to green, pin in sucker position between the two bunkers. Played at the pin, assuming I'd draw a bit. Hit straight, but perfect distance, leaving 10 footer for birdie. Birdie putt finished right at the hole, but two inches left, leaving a tap in par. Very pleased with the strategy on this hole. It's the Bayou - that's the Bayou and this is the signature hole - you should see what it looks like from the back when the pin is up front like that - 210 over all of that .... .stuff. Plus you've just come off of 15 which is all over water and has the Bayou behind it. Those two holes have the ability to make or break your round. And 18 is very similar to 18 at Sawgrass - the water doesn't hit you until later than Sawgrass but it's there and there is OB right. The course is a beast - my 76 was like a 73 where I play in league (it will lower my handicap for certain). 00sportsman, Sluggo42, Rickp and 5 others 8 Quote Taylor Made Stealth 2 10.5 Diamana S plus 60 Aldila R flex - 42.25 inches SMT 4 wood bassara R flex, four wood head, 3 wood shaft Ping G410 7, 9 wood Alta 65 R flex Srixon ZX5 MK II 5-GW - UST recoil Dart 65 R flex India 52,56 (60 pending) UST recoil 75's R flex Evon roll ER 5 32 inches It's our offseason so auditioning candidates - looking for that right mix of low spin long, more spin around the greens - TBD
SteddyGolf
150 yards up hill approach with a 7 iron. From my position I could only see the top of the flag from the fairway. I aimed right at the wavering nylon then took a nice smooth swing which felt amazing. I arrived to the green to find my ball sitting in its on ball mark. A ball mark that happen to share a space with the side of the cup. Good? Heck yeah! sixcat
167 yard par 3 #12 something of a “redan” design with bunkering filling the front and water behind. 8 iron to 3 feet.
