Just for a change of venue and Fox Den did not charge us much more than the Coon - it works out to $4 per round.

I really like it. The sixth hole plays really long now, but I'm glad they got rid of the hokey iron off the tee, 3w up the hill par 5.

I had a really good round today. I hit four drives with the G400 LST that hit the downhill slopes and took off, twice with my 3 wood, and once with the four iron. All were long, but, the shot of the day was a 58* wedge from 76 yards that ended-up just shy of 2 feet from the hole! You can see the divot in the pic. It bounced once, and just stuck! I hit it exactly as I envisioned it.

I had two today while out breaking in my new mizzies. First one was a 9 iron from 138 that I thought was going to be my first ace, and then the very next hole I eviscerated my drive 348 yds. Same hole as my last huge drive. Downwind, downhill, dry fairway, just like last time. But still... ya gotta paste it... anyways

Messing with my new irons today. Hit a 3 iron close to 220, dead straight.

So today was a struggle - made a great birdie on 14 to give myself a chance to break 80, nice par on 15 but shoved my tee shot right on 16, dead, but had a little window, over under an 8 iron just short and left of the green - made bogey -that saved my round - birdied 17 - long drive of the day - 256, 5 wood just short, pitched on poured in an 8 footer.

Two shots are in contention from yesterday.  Par 3 #16 is a nice 200-220 yard par 3.  Green was middle right yesterday.  For the second time in as many rounds, when I needed my 4 iron, I absolutely smashed it.  This beauty went 210 to about 16-17 feet, for a nice two putt par which was needed after a dumb double on the previous hole.

Second shot, was on one of my nemesis holes the 387 yard par 4, 17th.  There is a downhill landing area in between two creeks.  The first creek is a 200 yard carry, the second you have to carry 260 off the tee.  I normally lay up inbetween creeks but I went for it yesterday.  For the first time in my life I carried the second creek and the boom stick ended up at 292 just to the right of the fairway in the rough.  It felt as though I have finally conquered the beast.

Nicely done! I can only occasionally produce a driver shot that long. I'd still chicken out on that one and tee-off with 3w.

Had a really good round going Sunday and played the front 9 to only(?) +10. My "bad" hole is my nemisis #3 where I was in the water off the tee for the 5'th straight round...maybe 6'th! Anyhow, the next hole is the first par-5 of the day and I hit a decent drive just off the right side of the FW. Then hit a 3w to within 50-yds in front of the green. The shot-o-the-day, was a full-on 60* wedge from there to land about 8-ft or so...

Yes, it was a par...sigh...

Thanks!  That hole can be a monster, I don't remember the last time I had a par on that hole.  I can only think of one, maybe two bogeys in the last year .  At best, laying up leaves a nice cool 150-160 plus additional club uphill to a double tier green with a false front and two pot bunkers guarding the front left (my usual miss).  

My 3 wood has been an absolute nightmare lately and yesterday I'm hitting the driver okay and controlling it okay.  Worst case scenario I'm in the drink with the driver, take a drop and I'll have a shot at the green that I'm used to taking.  Best case, I clear the second creek for the first time ever.  It was a no brainer, to take the risk and it worked out nicely. Come to find out, carrying the second creek leaves a nice full wedge in, and makes the hole playable!

Great detail and it indeed seems you've found the key to this one for sure! Keep us posted on your next few trips there for sure!

Funny how clubs we get comfortable with and count on can just become crap overnight it seems. My FW's are definitely that way. I'll be able to just stripe them over and over again for weeks, then a brain fart sets in and I start topping and skulling every shot. I've found that I have to have a long dragging take-away from the ball before I pick up the club head to the back-swing otherwise...well...crap.

Had a nice day at 3 over, but the best hole was actually 2 par 3’s

one was a sandy with a long putt to drop and save par.

the other was a par 3 again and I topped the tee shot into so deep junk in front of the tee boxes. I manages to get a 58° wedge on it from 75 yards and get it on the green. Made a 12 footer to save par again.

I've been struggling with pretty much every shot lately.

Played the back 9. Started with 3 guys ripping bombs from the back tees. Easily 100yds farther than me. After 12th hole I declared a do-over, bid them farewell, and went back to the 10th.

I took the Flip Zone weight out of my driver. It was  a 17g I purchased to see what it would do. With that gone, my swing weight dropped a bit, enough to feel it.  I hit a little straighter but still short. 

I decided to hit "bubba shots" off the tee from hole 14 on.  I dont know what Bubba actually does, but I just hinge the club way more, and really try to crack the whip thru the ball.  A sixth gear that I rarely use.  I need to use it more. 

Tee shots on 14, 15, 17, left to right 5yd fade that just kept climbing.  I couldnt measure but I took a stock shot after one of them and the bubba shot was probably 50yds farther, I'm guessing 255-270.  For me that is long range. 

I was also finding center of the face more with the high velocity shot.   Everything else sucked. I was stoked on the tee shots

#7 on Men's Club night was the designated long drive hole for the senior tees .... I won a sleeve of ProV1 balls for knocking one down the middle 5 yards past the previous LD.  Not as good as the HIO above, but hey.....

Hole #3 at Banbury Golf Club is a 136-yd par-3 from the whites with water in front and right. Flushed an 8-iron toward my target left that cut nicely right and landed about 12' away from the cup to the left and behind it a bit. Made a clean par.

Normally I'll just post a nice approach shot, maybe a wedge or two and many fairway wood shots here, but today is different. Best shot of the day today for me was the birdie putt I made on the par-5 5th.

The tee shot was a crap, short power-fade helped by a left-to-right wind that carried me to the first cut on the right. Slammed a 3w to 75-yds or so and hit a real nice 54* wedge to here...

Read it for right-edge and 12'. Putt rolled true but when it got to the hole, it looked as if I had just missed and the ball would stay just to the right of the hole maybe <1/2" away, but 1 more turn and it collapsed in from the right, back edge..! I was so sure I had missed it, I almost looked up and away in anguish, but saw it die into the cup at the last second!

Par 3 12th at Windmill again, 178 yard 4 iron onto the green.

On our 11th hole, a tight 495 us par 5,I sniped a tee shot quick left on the highway. Reload and pummel it to 204. Yip a 2 iron in the trees left, and have 78 yards under then over a tree, and a deep bunker. Stoned a 58* to 3 feet and made 6.

I hate this game sometimes

Three shots stick out. I drained two 15-20 putts for par to win holes. Both were dead center and I knew coming off the face they were dead on line. The other is a macho drive into the wind. Caught a hill and ended up dead center of the fairway about 300 hundred yards out. For me that's a great shot.
