Sluggo42
I have been working on a new swing, which I call the furek. Similar to Jim’s swing, but way less of everything. sp0rtsfan86
Partner and I played in men's league. Got down to the last hole where I needed par to hit average and get a point. Also the player I'm going against was tied with me and at best we were a stroke up. Needless to say the 7 footer I had was a huge putt. Started it just left edge and dropped it dead center. Even though my opponent matched, it felt great knowing I made the putt to seal the victory and a few points for our team. RoverRick
We will not discuss the shot that put me 62 yards passed and left of the flag from 140 yards in the center of the number 6 fairway, but I ended up perched on the side of the number 7 tee box. With this: The picture looks flat but I am standing 3' above the ball the hills are up 10' down 3' up 3' and down 4'. The ball is on a slope where my right foot is just below my left knee height. Also it is held on the slope by clumps of wiry grass in front of the ball but clean access to the back. The flag is on the far side left of the green with 6' before the lake and the green sloping right and into the lake. With the trees I had no chance of going high so I decided a bump and run 7 iron hooked around the tree to the top of the hill between the 2 bunkers and hopefully stop it on the lower tier for a chance at par. One of my opponents had 4' for birdie so I had nothing to lose. I hit the chip and thought it was as good as I could have done. It crossed the hill and out of sight at the speed I wanted and on line so I stepped over to the cart to grab my putter when the other 3 guys went nuts. I can't quote exactly what they yelled, or I will be censored, other than "Look! He doesn't even care, he's f^The guy with the 4' birdie putt was so upset he pulled his putt and griped about it the rest of the day. I also chipped in on 1, 12 and 13 that day but they were straight forward shots just off the green. juspoole
Had a couple today - after a weak fade drive hit a great 3 wood that landed high and soft from 247 into a 10 mile wind - playing around 260 I'd say. Landed on fringe to front pin and had about 15 feet for eagle. revkev
Was 8 over going to nine. After I knocked it over the green on my approach and made bogey on 8, I repeated the mistake when the wind died on me on 9. Dead!!! Flopped my 58 to the perfect spot i the rough and it trickled down to the lip -tap in par. After another nice up and down on 10 rolled in a 15 footer for birdie on 11, another up and down on 12 and then easy par after easy par the rest of the way home for 35 on the back. That par on 9 was the key though. While 78 isn’t great for me it tastes a lot better than the struggle to break 85 that I was looking at as I walked to the 9th tee. sp0rtsfan86
I could claim it was the 130 yard shot over trees to 15 feet. Or the drive that cleared a bunker and was dead straight, but I think my favorite was the putt on 9. Downhiill left to right and quite quick the 45 footer was going to be rough. I hit it dead smooth and liked the angle, following to see when it would turn over and roll straight down the hill. It turned about 6 feet from the hole and was on a direct line to the hole... at 6 inches I celebrated knowing it was going to drop. Imagine my shock when it ended a revolution short...on a downhill. I tapped in for par but feel I got hosed as it stopped on a dime an inch short. MattF 1 Quote Driver: Epic Flash 12 Degree Wood: GBB 3 Wood Hybrid: Razr 4 hybriid stiff stock shaft. palvord
My twilight round yesterday was going pretty well until the par 5 6th hole. I push sliced my drive into some thick rough, and the ball was nestled in what looked like the ditch left behind from a mower tire. I tried to make something resembling contact with a 5iron, and promptly hit 6" behind the ball for an awe inspiring 35yd shot. Trying to get in front of the green and in the fairway, I pushed my 8 iron left of target, but with a clean look at the green. And then as one does from 40yds out, dropped the pitch shot. I landed about 10ft from the hole, and it rolled right in. Just the normal birdie that a hack golfer finds once in a blue moon. enns.darren
Short/easy 480yard par 5 with water about 250yds out from the tee. Overcooked a 4iron to the left rough, behind a tree, leaving me about 230yds to the green. One option, I can chip out over the creek and leave myself 180yrds in, OR aim at the bunker 40yds right of the green and hit the Bubba hook (for a righty). Absolutely ripped a 5 iron around the tree in front of me, looked up to see it hooking like crazy, lands middle of the green spins left, leaving me about 10ft for eagle. Missed the putt but I'll never forget that shot! Nic and MattF
downlowkey
3rd hole of the day - hit a super skinny drive that left just under 220. Flushed a 4-iron that clipped a big branch in the stand of giant Cottonwoods guarding the right half of the green and it predictably kicked dead right. I had an open line to the hole, ~25 yds of sticky rough and another ~15 yds of green. But the ball was in a nesty lie and my back was actually against one of the big Cottonwoods. Considered flipping something over and digging it out lefty. Instead, I grabbed the 49*, choked down to the steel and really elevated the handle to try and create a little tree clearance. The ball came out perfect, carried just onto the collar and tracked dead in the heart to inside a foot. My (3) sight and hearing challenged playing partners this morning took ZERO notice, but I know that one showed some top shelf grit. edingc
From my round Tuesday - Hole five, which should be a ho-hum par 4, 306 yards, but uphill. Pulled my drive left, had something like 75 yards left to pin but I was looking at a tree. Pulled out the 54, opened up face slightly and moved it forward. Nice healthy swing (and divot, as pictured) and ball just got up in time to barely clear the tree, clipping a few leaves at the top as it went by. Landed just shy of the green and ran up pretty close to the hole. Unfortunately couldn't convert the birdie, but I'll walk away with a par all day from where the tee shot was. sirchunksalot, MattF, downlowkey and 3 others 6 Quote Unofficial WHS Handicap: 7.5 / Anti-Cap: 13.0 (Last Updated Feb. 19, 2024) Driver: Callaway Paradym TD (10.5°, -1/N), 45.75", Fujikura Motore X F1 6X | Fitting Post 3 Wood: Cobra RadSpeed Big Tour (14.5°), 43", Fujikura Motore X F1 7X 20° Hybrid: PXG 0211 (2020 Model), 40.25", Mitsubishi Tensei AV RAW White 90X 4 Utility: Cobra KING Utility (2020 Model), 38.5", Aerotech SteelFiber i110cw Stiff 5-PW: Ben Hogan PTx Pro, 37" 7 Iron, Aerotech SteelFiber i125cw Stiff | Club Champion Fitting 50°, 54°, 58°: Edel SMS, V Grind, Nippon Modus 125 Wedge| Official Review Thread Putter: L.A.B. Nic
My shot of the day was within 3 feet on a par three with an elevated & blind green, to win closest to the pin during our golf league play. First time I ever won a league challenge hole. sirchunksalot, bens197 and MattF
