Yesterday at Tupelo National, 2nd hole, 5 iron to 9 feet, made the birdie

Reached the 530 yd par 5 in 2 for the first time ever while deliberately playing down the previous hole's fairway (better angle versus going straight). Had 250 in and hit my 3W to 35 feet and two putted. Very satisfying to pull off back to back shots exactly how you pictured them.

Had 2 on a day of good golf. A 180 yd 5 iron outta the ruff, 4’ from pin (missed) and a 116 pw that was close to an ace…

Par 3, 174 yds to the pin. I was debating between 6 iron and 7 iron and told myself that I’ve been swinging to hard and trying to kill every shot. I decided that I needed to just swing smooth and go with the 6 iron. Tempo was good, ball felt perfect off the club face. Ball landed five feet past the hole and rolled out another four. Missed the birdie but made the par.

Best shot of the day was good enough to take a picture. Hit a pretty crappy tee shot on a par 4 and left myself about 170 left and I was on top of a hill in the rough. Stuck a 6 iron that landed on the right edge of the green and then it trickled toward the hole. Ended up about 5 feet from the hole. Made the birdie.

Hit an absolute MISSILE with the Super Hybrid! No wind, just a nice, firm fairway! I was a little nervous on the box because about 10 people were outside in a pool having a party, music, etc, right next to me. Hit the shot, and one guy yells, “Damn! Nice shot, Dude!” Best shot off the tee with the Super Hybrid I’ve had yet.

Nice! Is the date with the sub70 cancelled then? The super hybrid is really great when you get that solid contact from the tee. It just goes!

Nope. Since I’m out-of-town for a few days this week, I asked the guys at Sub70 not to ship it until Tuesday. Still going to be hard to decide since the Sub70 is coming with a 70g shaft, and I like a lot heavier in my fairway woods…

best shot today was chipping in on 18 to close out the round. 

i pushed my approach to the right and had a short chip to get on the green, but it didn’t grab and ran through the green. 

left myself a short sided chip with a lie in some thick rough. went with my 60* and got it to come out soft, catch the slope and roll down into the hole. 

nice way to finish a round. made the bogey sting a little less

Sometimes better lucky than good. Did not have my best swing today, and hit a big cut driver into the right rough on No. 17 near the base of the tree. Pin tucked middle right by the sand trap in a low spot, took a 7 iron with the intention of just playing to center of green. Ended up fanning the 7 iron just a bit but it faded just perfectly to the right around the trees. Sat softly on the green for a 10 foot birdie attempt. Unfortunately, the putt just went by the right edge and I tapped in for par.

Last night's 9 hole mixed couples scramble (in the rain) I got 'closest to the pin' on a 150 yd par 3. I earned a whooping $12.50 in shop credit

14th hole, SI 1, 420 yards:

Hybrid 255y into the light rough - 7i 165y uphill to 18" - holed the putt for birdie

Blocked out by some trees on a quirky par 5 last night in league. I was just on the shorter side of a normal PW for me to get to the front of the green, with the pin front left. I set up for a 20-30 yard fade, figuring if I pulled it I'd be safe as long as I didn't go to long. Hit the shot exactly like I was picturing, left me with about 18 feet for eagle.

2 putted for 1 of my 3 birdies of the day!

It could have been the entire 12th hole but I'll just say my approach.  There aren't too many photos of it and this one sort of gives a hint but its 545 uphill to a green that's guarded by 2/3 of a large trap up front.  The only two opportunities you have are to fly it and land it on a kidney bean (very shallow front to back) green or run it up the left side and get lucky. 

Today, for the first time in 21 years, I hit this green in two.  SIM went bomb mode for my longest of the day, 314 yards.  It left me. 230 to the front edge and with the elevation and light wind, I choked up on a 3 wood.  Hit a beautiful little cut off the left side of the green and it caught the back edge leaving me about 24' for eagle.  Made birdie and went onto the next.

• Shot 1: Pushed my drive slightly but ended up ok, in the rough a few yards off of the fairway
• Shot 2: Hit a 6 iron, pushed slightly, in the rough, but ok lie
• Shot 3: PW into the green, short and right of the green, right into the bunker
• Shot 4: Made it out of the bunker, but slightly long, about 10 feet past the hole
• Shot 5: Made the putt for par

par 3 15th hole. quickly becoming my favorite hole on the course 

189 yards to the pin today. tee box is elevated and you’ve gotta carry a pond to get to the green. plays about 10 yards short because of the elevation 

8i was allll over the flagstick. from the tee it seemed like it pitched really close to the hole and rolled out to about 12ft. 

got down to the green and my ball pitched 8” left of the hole.

Played Lundin Links today. 
 

In true links fashion it’s drier than Sahara and playing about a 16 stint on the fairway. so my greatest shot of the day was laying up 20 yards on a par3 and letting it run a good 60 yards to the back pin.

It has been a while since I’ve had a highlight reel shot… well today I pulled off a shot that would have made Seve smile.  Pulled off a rope hook punch 6 iron to about 38’, made par.  This had double written all over it…. I followed it up with a bogey from the fairway at 125 yards on the next hole…

Thought about it., but that brought the bunker into play.  Branch just out of frame.
