shot of the day was a 7 iron from 153 that was a gorgeous soaring draw that ended up 1 foot from the pin.

unfortunately, the rest of the day sucked…

Hit a 5 wood 189 yards from the adjacent fairway to just missing the cup today; easily my most memorable shot in my career so far.

First outdoor 9 of the year! I played a super short course near me mostly to knock the rust off and remind myself what real golf actually felt like again.

Shot of the day was on a 275 yd par 4, straight away to a green that slopes pretty severely back to front. I hit my 2 hybrid on the nose and it faded right toward the heart of the green. I actually plugged it on the fly into the green about 2 yards on, man it feels good to be golfing again!!

Best shot was off the first tee. Downhill absolutely smoked my 3 wood. Hit my second shot where I wanted but misjudged length, just needed a few more feet (false front) also my putt was not 32’. Was 6’ arccos was a little all over the place in the greens today.

beet hole was the only par 3 I played well. They are all really long at this course (200 plus on 3 of them and 185 on the last one). Should have hit more irons because this was piped and drained the longggg putt.

Accidentally replicated this (the divot) today

Yes, I really did take a divot just about that long. Was 80 yards out, had been raining so the fairways were wet, hit a full 58 degree wedge. Hit it flush, took the large long divot, ball came out pretty high with a lot of spin, landed and took a small hop in the air after it landed and stayed in the same spot, 3 feet from the hole. 

Was playing with a guy that I play with frequently and he was like "how did you do that". I really have no idea. Usually if I take a divot that big, the ball goes like 5 yards.

Probably my tee shot on 17 yesterday. I had missed a 3’ for birdie two holes prior and was waiting on a group in front of me so I’d load a little momentum. They waited on 17 tee for me so I could play through. 
 

Super cordial and I had even mentioned I’m content to wait, it’s so relaxing today. 
 

Instead they said go ahead and hit. I had 143 into the wind and chose a nice soft cut 8. 
 
Depending upon who you ask, this was my putt. Let’s say 6’

... Actually 2 almost identical shots my last 2 rounds. #2 at Aguila is a 515yd par 5 that plays a little downhill off the tee and uphill to the green. Both days with about an 8mph wind at my back I had 195 to the pin. Day 1 I hit a 5 iron to a front pin and had 6 feet that I made for eagle. Day 2 I hit a 4 iron to mid pin, hit it to 15 feet and missed the eagle but had a tap in birdie. At my age, reaching a 515yd par 5 in two with an iron is just such a rewarding feeling.

I had a 210 yd lie in the bark, under a big tree, with little trees in front of me, on the #1 hdcp hole.

 

So I saw that I had a small window if I could hit a low rising cut of about 20 yards. But I had to take a smooth swing as I wore the old spike less ecco's, and the sparse bark on the hard dirt offered no sure footing.

 

So out comes the 16* 3-wood, and I line up my feet to the opening, and aim the face at the pin.

 

I make a smooth firm swing and absolutely nailed it.

I ran out from behind the trees, just in time to see the ball land on the green and give me a 25' shot at a birdie, which I missed, but was still thrilled with the par.

 

Those are the shots that keep us coming back for sure...

Just got back from 7 days in Myrtle Beach and although I had a lot of bad shots, I had one great shot and several very good ones.  On Tuesday, May 3, we played the Legends Heathland course (we played all of the Legends properties, including the Heritage Club and Oyster Bay), and at Heathland I was absolutely on fire, particularly on our first nine, which was actually the back nine.  I shot 38 on this nine on my way to a disappointing 84, but it was the 17th hole, a par-3 that plays as long as 217 yards, but was 181 yards from the tees that we played (I think that it was playing quite a bit shorter than that because it's a slightly uphill hole and I played a 7-iron to a back and slightly right pin position. I nuked that 7-iron directly at the pin, and it looked awfully good to all four of us in my foursome (we couldn't see the surface of the green or the lower half of the flagstick from the tee box).  When we got to the green, my ball was sitting just 4" right of the cup, and my pitch mark was only about 18" short of the hole.  I won both a CTP and a skin on the hole on my way to a total of $175 in winnings that day (a big chunk of the $240 to $260 that I won over the course of five competition rounds).

I have never had a hole-in-one, but I now have been inside of 18" four times, three of which were inside of a foot.  At 73 years old, I'm hoping that there's still at least one ace in my golfing future, since I have had everything else including an albatross in 1993, and more than three dozen eagles on par 5s and more than a few eagles on par-4 holes.  If I can hole-out from the fairway and even from the rough from as far away as 165 yards, there's no reason that I shouldn't have at least one ace by now -- and I almost forgot, I have also hit the flagstick twice on short (less than 300 yard) par 4 holes, both of which resulted in eagles.

Klanked a drive which left 220 to the green. Hit a 3 wood to 10 feet, and nearly made the birdie putt. 3 wood is normally not my best club.

i think I had 5 up and downs today, any of which could have made topic, but that 3 wood was pure…

I had two yesterday. The first was a chip in from a missed long left approach on a par 5. Landed on the fringe and found the bottom of the hole. First eagle of the day. 
 

The shot of the day though was on 16 in our scramble we had 223 to a front pin. 3rd guy hit a gorgeous 3w to 6’

I chose a 3 iron and hit mine to 4’ 

Didnt mean to steal his thunder but we all agreed, the eagle 3 felt great.

Had several great ones this morning before work but this one takes the cake:

Easily goes down as one of my longest ever. Middled it and hit a beautiful cut to the right side of the fairway on a par 5. I've gone for this par 5 in two four times already this season and can't recall doing that more than once or twice last year. Moreover, each time I've taken less and less club. Started with hybrid, then utility, then 5 iron and today my 6 iron finished hole-high in the left bunker.
