The wife had to work tonight so I stopped in and played 9 holes after work. Stole yet another King of the hole and also hit the green in one for the first time ever on a par 4. Missed the 10 ft eagle putt but I'll happily take the tap in bird. Screenshot_20180815-192156.jpeg

Hit 2 iron under a tree on 18.

From 155 out I hit a knock down 8 iron, under a branch to 10 feet.

It was nice to see that I was able to get the desired trajectory and that I had decent control over where it went.

First hole last Tuesday, 10th on TPC Dye's Valley course.  Hit a 9 iron from 137 dead on the pin, high trajectory.  We all saw heading for the pin, but no one saw it hit.  There's a swale in front of the green, we thought maybe it was short (though it felt like I flushed it).  There was also a ridge on the green about 5 yds beyond the hole, maybe I airmailed it.  We drove up to the green, no ball.  Only one place it could be--and sure enough, in the cup slam dunk for an eagle two!  Didn't even damage the hole cut, just a very slight nick.  Coupled with a par on the very tough par 3 11th, it was an awesome start to the round.

Finished 40/41 81 with FOUR three puts.

Nonchalant putts count the same as chalant putts.

2 shots of the day:  Par 5 240 to the middle, hit a perfect 3 wood to the back of the green; unfortunately 3 putt from 30 feet.  Second shot was 220 to a front pin on a par 5;  3 hybrid to about 18 feet, 2 putts for easy birdie.

Best shot today would have be on the 4th hole, hit a nice 8 iron off the tee (not the shot) and had 125 yards to the tee and pulled my GW (120 yards usually) and swung a bit harder and put it past the pin but felt great to hit a shot like that and then converted the biride putt.

This is gonna be a weird one but how about just a well played hole. It's not often that I remember a hole because.of how good all my shots were. So here goes.

Dogleg left par 4. Hit a perfect 5 iron about 190 right to the middle of the fairway at the turn.

155 left. Pin placements were abysmal today. It was tucked to the right in between two bunkers in the most narrow part of the green. So I hit my 8 iron to the biggest part of the green. Perfect shot. High, straight. A slight draw. Lands a little more left than I wanted but whatever. GIR. walk up and I have about 40 feet. All the way across the green to go. So I take a poke at it after a quick read and what do you know. I lagged it to about 2 ft for the tap in par. I know it's not a 300 yd 3 wood. But I felt like I knew what I was doing for maybe the first time ever on a golf course.

I'll try to keep this short. Every Tuesday I play Exec 9 with some neighbors and a few guys who are struggling with health problems, there are a couple of good players also. This morning was a tough go due to rain lately and. Lot of standing water that are now ponds. Going into 7 I'm 1 under playing well. So on hole 7 par 3 yank a 7i into a “pond” of casual water. I take a drop nearest relief is Bermuda rough, yuck. Hit a 55* wedge and jar it for bird. Strange game

186 yard Par 3, extremely windy... about 25mph right to left...

Pin tucked right side behind the bunker

Hit a high fade with my 5i

Landed it on the fringe, rolled-up to 3ft, birdie

It was a big deal for me, since I rarely get on this GIR :D

Par 3 16th 170 yards.

Pulled a 7 iron 50' left.

I had a big left to right slider left for birdie that I would have been happy to get down in two.

Well, I nailed the putt for birdie. I got really lucky too, because it was going 10' past. A bright spot in an otherwise poor round.

Hit my 5i into a green on a par 5 after poor course management. I thought I was on the other course and hit a mid iron off the tee and i messed up my 3w. The 5i was perfect right to left shape, needed this shape due to water the whole left of the green and bunkers whole right, landed the middle of the green and it stopped this fast. Greens were soft from being punched and it was very slow due to it being sandy. Main reason it was my shot of the day was I hit the right to left shot I needed and that's the opposite of my stock shot shape, plus stopping like that was cool.

Played again today, kind of a struggle all day, but putter and wedge killed it to save the scorecard.

Best shot was the last putt of the day, with 5 skins on the line.

16 footer, uphill with a 6”left break the last 3 feet.

Do, or push all the skins onto oblivion, as everyone else was done.

Let everyone throw their “pressure intensifiers” out as I lined her up, and then just made a solid stroke. Saw she was on my intended line, and started to walk her in, and fist pumped as she plopped dead center.

BAM!

That put was for $10 worth of skins... love it.

Played another wet 9 holes today. Shot an unimpressive 41 but 9th par 5 hole was weird. Hit a short tee shot to short left in deep Bermuda rough, swell. Second shot 6i trying to get back to fareway but nooo another shot further left in deeper Bermuda rough, third shot finally out of rough into the short grass 39 yards in front of green. Fourth shot 55' wedge one hop hit the pin and stopped about 2” from hole. That's a “working mans par”!

Missed a 5i iron off the tee a bit on a short dog leg right that left me at 125 in instead of my usual 100 to 105. Pulled a wedge I rarely have used yet and dropped it over the bunker to 3 feet of thr stick. Sunk it for birdie. Got a small applause for the shot and the putt from a fee people enjoying dinner on their porch.

Played yesterday for the first time at a new track in the area and it started out really rough. As the round went on things started to come together. On 17, par 3 190yrds into wind I hit a beautiful pure 4 iron with a tiny draw to about 10 feet. It wasn't super close but it was exactly the shot I wanted to hit and it gave me a lot of confidence for the rounds to come.

I was awarded the "shot-of-the-day" by my playing partners yesterday for draining a 20' birdie putt, but for me as exciting as that was (only my second bird ever), I actually had 2 other shots that really set the tone for my day that I think were more significant.

Long par-5. Straight and wide open. I had "fired" my driver by this time, so I pulled out the 3w. Absolutely sculled the f*** out of it and it dribbled pathetically to just behind the ladies tees... Immediately fired the 3w on the spot and grabbed up my 5w and took the very short walk of shame up to it. I then just crushed out a super-sounding laser beam of a shot straight down the middle. My second shot with the same club was hammered also which got me to just short of the green and slightly left. Made bogie which I thought was a fine score after all that. :)

Shot of the day. I couldn't make a putt for anything the other day. I missed everything outside of about 1 foot. The ball just would not go in the hole. Well I got to par 5, 18th, and I left myself a 25 footer for par, and the shot of the day I stepped up and drained it. for a smooth par. Why?? Why?? Does it take 18 holes for a putt to fall in, and I shot an 87 that day. How'd I shoot an 87, well as you read earlier in the post, I made a 25 footer on 18. Otherwise I would have shot an 88.

Great question, my only birdie today was on 17!!

Doh, I take than back-

Drove into a fairway bunker

Hit that into a greenside bunker.

It stuck deep, and way up on the back side with virtually no shot.

Had to have one leg in, and the left knee on the grass.

Laid the club open and swung for the fences and somehow got it to pop out, but about 20feet above the pin.

Par putt cam up short, but that woulda been one heck of a double sandy...

Oh, and drives were long today for some reason. Hard to know why...
