My shot of the day (yesterday) was a breaking putt about 5 feet on one of our tougher putting holes on the 27 hole course, well known for ruining rounds.  The green slopes fairly steeply from back to front and is fast and caused many a 3 putt and worse when you're above or to the side of the hole.  What made this special was my teammate had just chipped in for birdie, then remarks for me to go ahead and drain the putt to tie his birdie and that he didn't care about the skin.  Well, as soon as he heard the plunk of the ball hitting the bottom of the cup, he exclaimed "I was only kidding!  I wanted the skin!".  We both laughed.  (But I stoked on that hole and he didn't, so I tied the gross skin with him, but won the net skin).

Not me but we. 3 of us tee off and spun off to our right (left side of pic.) down near the trap. All in same area. We all chip on and 1 putt in. Pretty much identical shots.

Here it is.  A beaut of a 2 hybrid.  Settled at around 9 feet.  Drained the eagle putt.

Monstrous Shanks!

mine was a less monstrous, 8 iron from 135 outta the rough, above my feet, over the water, up the backstop, and back down to 8 feet. Missed the putt...

The end result wasnt what  I was looking, but the execution of the was spot on minus club selection.

Had a 126y  to the stick out of a fairway bunker. Over a tall tree and a greenside bunker as well. Took 9i which I figured if I hit it well would be too much. Wanted to get it to the though.

Stood tall with no fear and ripped it. It was too much and landed a couple yards long, rolled off, then down the slope.

It made this my shot of of the day waas that two years ago I would have had a high % to leave it in the bunker or chunk it out halfway to my target.

Two years ago many of my rounds were spent on an empty course while solo. I took the opurtunity to play 2-3 shots from bunkers, weird lies, chips, and most any shot I felt like I needed work on.

Hit a 336 yd drive today. A little wind at my back helped, but my new swing seems to be the deal. Hit quite a few drives longer than my normal landing spots.

Playing back 9 tonight, I went in to 16 even par. 270 dog leg right. Toed my 5w down right tree line. Tough to find the green in from there.

Found ball sitting up in the tree line but tall spruce in the way. 112 to stick. 58 wedge would clear the tree, but would be short. 54 might clear but still short. 51 degree was the club in the cold but didnt think Id make the tree. Safe play was punch out, hit the 58 and give myself a putt.

I pulled the 51, aimed a little right which was the peak of the tree, and played it up front. Took a full swing and really threw he hands  through  the ball. To my amazement I cleared the tree but lost it on the way down. I did hear "thump" so It hit the green but where. Found it flag high 8 feet away but missed the birdie putt.

Probably my best wedge shot to be honest.

If only I could hit them all like that. Perfect strike, downwind, must have gotten a perfect bounce etc etc... but it left me 140 out on a par 5. My previous best had been 176 out.

but you can call me slugger if you like, it will be like 30 years ago when I was a softball banger...

Certainly not one of the 3 that I topped into the water. :( (I had a bit to drink last night)

Possibly the chip in for birdie on 2 but could also have been the 15 footer that I rolled in for birdie after skipping my lay up across a pond to leave a perfect yardage in on the par 5 7th. :)

A toss up between 2. Option 1, gap wedge from 115 from the rough with the ball about 6 inches below my feet, to 4 foot. Option 2, 57 degree from 82 yards to a pin only 5 yards over a deep bunker, put it to 2 foot.

Unfortunately, option 1 came after hitting one out of bounds, option 2 was my 3rd on a 330 yard par 4 after an awful chunked 2nd.

Playing at a friends track, I had a 40 ish foot birdie putt that I actually had to aim about 30’ left of the pin. My friend gave me a line and said to trust him. Darned if it didn’t trickle all the way down and in... lucky but fun

Had 6 bogey, 2 pars, a triple bogey and an eagle. Let’s talk about the eagle. Driver down the left side of the fairway. Had to hook a 3 wood around the trees from about 220, uphill to a blind shot into the green. I walk up, expecting my ball in one of the three greenside bunkers. Huh, I threaded the needle and see the ball sitting 4 feet pin high to the right of the stick. Made the putt for eagle. I had a witness this time!

Sheesh - tough crowd.

Okay - how about this post vinegar shot... errr... shot... looking down on Boulder from the top of Mount Sanitas today?

It wasn’t blowing more than 60 knots at the summit. Should have brought an old club and a few pelotas - could have used it as a walking stick for the descent.
