Forgot to post here...I had my first 300 yard drive.  There's an asterisk involved; I cleared the river but the bridge is up on a little hill.  The ball landed somewhere on the cart path on the decline after the bridge and kicked forward pretty good.  But hey, 300 is 300!

I typically hit fades with my driver, and very rarely try to draw it. On this par 5 today I figured it'd be a decent enough time to try. Big trees guard the left side, and it's a decent uphill jaunt to get up by the corner. There is a good payoff for pulling the shot off, but not a huge penalty if I fan it out right, because you can play up the adjacent fairway.

Gave it a rip and it was a beautiful baby draw, maybe 5 yards. Fairway runs off to the right so it barely caught the rough. Felt really really tidy, just a really good swing!Screenshot_20220906-231638.png.d529d5b42032bdd36d991a188eb05332.png

... I was writing a review for the adjustable Cobra Utility and the very first time I hit it on the 314yd par 4 8th hole at Encino in LA, I almost drove the green. Just a nice high slightly downwind tee shot that I hit dead center, not only the club face but the fairway as they use a concrete square for the 100 yd marker and I landed right on it. Ball must have bounced 30 feet in the air as well as a good 30-40yds farther down the hard fairway and rolled out. Sadly because it was a review, I had to admit the distance was a product of the 100 yd marker but the accuracy was aaaall the club.

Holed out from a greenside bunker for birdie on the 2nd hole during my round on Saturday. The next hole was a long par 3 that I pulled my tee shot on. Had 30 yards from a downhill lie in the rough, hit a flop shot with my 58* that rolled up and hit the pin, but somehow stayed out. Unfortunately the rest of my game was not as good as my short game was that round!

Chunked a 3 wood on the par 5 I birdied yesterday, which left a 140 to the pin-

hit a good 8 iron to about 8’, and birdied the hole again. Funny thing was 3/4 of the guys also birdied it today.

8 iron worked well today

14th hole, wet and windy. Ugly Neely cut off the tee. Weird almost topspin 8 iron that barely got 10 feet in the air. Ran about 60 yards despite the extremely soft conditions. Finished 35 feet past the pin. Rolled the putt in for a birdie. Broke my playing partners hearts😅

Two shots of the day.

First was on the 4th hole, par 5. My tee shot leaked right, and ended on a downslope bare lie. I had about 100 yards left, over a pond. Tree branches were hanging above and had to clear some cattails. I played it too low at first, and it hit the cattails and into the the pond. Took a drop, and was able to get a line without branches above me. Stuck my next shot to about a foot for an up and down par save!

IMG_20220910_134047872.jpg.1c0d78fec91467c3087b8773326626aa.jpg

And then on the 8th, I had to chip out from the left side after a wayward drive. Didn't quite chip out far enough, and still had some tree trouble. Was 170 out, so closed down my 9 iron and tried to hook it around the tree. Felt great, and stuck it to 5 feet! Missed the putt, but converting 1/2 of those up and downs and having really good chances at both is way more than I would have hoped for!

Todays favorite shot was a simple 25 yd chip that got pin high on a front pin location. It allowed a birdie opportunity that fell into the hole.

Actually… a true “shot of the day” was a simple 49 yd wedge over a trap to a very thin slice of the green, to about a foot, for a kick in bird.
this shot of course followed one of my fairway wood shots (cobra king SZ) 3 wood, that I used to rescue a severely pulled (but long) drive on a par 5. It was an uphill/side hill shot that needed about 50 yards of a cut to land back into the fairway, and miss the 2 bunkers…

P.S. did I tell you I love my fairway woods?

Laughable hole for me on Saturday.

Par 5. If you hit it far enough the ball hits a downslope and can really run out.

Well, with a little wind at the back, I did just that and hit the dry New Jersey soil and left myself a measly 117 yards into the green (almost a 400 yard drive!!)

had a straight forward gap wedge into the green -- which I prcoeeded to SHANK  almost pin high into the adjacent fairway (ball flew over some tall native grass).  I was pissed, but I grabbed my 58 and did the walk of shame to down to my ball.  Had about 75 yards left and I could only see the top of the flag stick because the shot was so up hill.

Hit it to 4 feet and made my birdie.  Just how I drew it up on the tee box!

Drive of a life time, shank, incredible lob wedge, tap in birdie!

Textbook birdie on the card Lukes!!

3rd shot into the par 5, 17th hole. 77 yard, 60° wedge to within 4 feet for birdie... It was a knee knocker thanks to missing quite a few putts due to bad reads and speed that day. Fortunately I made the bird. I need to practice some putting though.

Hate yourself, not the game...
