apexironman 14
My sons and I played our last round of the year at Boulder Creek in Boulder City, NV on 12/27. 14th hole of the round, #5 on the Desert Hawk 9 - Par 5, 476y Hit a decent drive down the right, ended up in the hardpan next to the cart path. Punched an 8 iron back on the the fairway, 95y out. Hit a SW from 95...looked good in the air...hit the green about 10ft short of the pin and rolled past up a slope. And started rolling back...closer....maybe....in! Eagle for Dad! Capped off the strangest year ever. 4 Quote Cobra F8 Driver - UST Mamiya Helium Black 5F3 Cobra Speedzone 3W - Fujikura Pro 53 R Cobra F9 5-6 Fwy - Fujikura Atmos Tour Spec Blue 6-R Mizuno MC Fli-Hi 4H - Rapid Taper 95 (R) Mizuno 919F 6-GW - Rapid Taper 95 (R) Mizuno 919 SW - Rapid Taper 95 (R) Vega Alcor 60 LW - KBS Tour 105 (S) Bettinardi SS3C

Buffly 563
I was in great position off the tee with a 7 iron in hand that did not go well on the par 4. I miss-hit the 7i into the trees right of the green. Gap wedge in hand, trying to keep it under the branches from about 20 yards, I was about 25 feet from the pin and just off the green by about 6 feet. Another person in our group continued to mark his shot by sticking his divot tool vertically in the ground behind his ball. It was right on my line and about 4 feet from the cup. I said, "can you mark it with something flat or finish out?" He replied, in a gripe, "you think you're that good?!? I'll mark it, but you probably won't even come close to my mark or making it!" I thought to myself, 'I can make this!' I still had my Gap in hand. I setup, make good contact, and the ball is on the way... The second bounce hits his coin, hops again, and goes in for par. He then proceeded to say, "I'll keep my mouth shut." - the best part Making par was great. Making a point was even better. The next tee I hit my longest drive ever (315 yards). Confidence does make a difference. 3 1 Quote Golf is simple - people are complicated. 5w Taylormade SLDR S 19* - 220yd, Ping G2 5-U - 190-105, Maltby M+ 54* & MG 60* - 95-75, Evnroll ER8, Titleist 816 H1 4h 21*, Maltby 4 Hybrid Iron 24* - 210-200, Callaway XR16 8* - 235 carry

Vegan_Golfer_PNW 4,671
Had an ok first 18 of year by my standards. Last hole is reason I keep coming back. Hit a solid drive I was trying to draw but it stayed straight. Luckily went through part of the trees. Was cold and into a 20 mph wind so had to hit a low bullet with my 4i to keep it under some branches. Put it back in my stance and swing away. Made it on the green for a chance at an eagle ( I am the white ball). Sadly I three putted but I’ll take pars all day. 5 Quote Driver: Epic Max LS Ventus Black 6x 44.5" (Testing '22 AV Blue and White 65X) 3wHL: Rogue ST LS 75x Tensei AV Blue w/ xlink 3H: 939X UST proforce V2 black F5 hybrid soft stepped 4-AW: 0211 with KBS Tour Stiff 2.5* up 1/4" long Unofficial Review Wedges Zipcore Tour Rack 54/full and 58/mid (review here) Putter: 2021 Phantom X5 35" (Backup: TAIII #2 Review here: TAIII Impact #2 Putter ) Ball: Z Star XV (back up balls ProV1 Left Dot, Vero X1, proV1)

HighFade 1,239
Cold topped my drive on a par 5 into the high grass next to the white tees. Hacked it out and advanced it about 150 yards. Skulled a 6 iron, but it rolled out 200 yards. Put my 4th about 40 feet from the pin, and sank it for a not-so-routine par. 4 Quote There is no spoon. Kenny B 33,416
The shot of the day didn't come from me; it came from one of the guys in the first group of the men's gangsome playing behind us. While I was teeing off on #3, a ball came over the grassy mounds from the #2 hole and hit my wife on her thigh, then hit our cart. Players from #2 can't see the #3 tee but they know where the tee box is. No use yelling Fore!! Can't be heard. It hurt! Nice bruise! We average about 25 balls per year that land less than 10 yards from us, and it's the 5th ball this year... it's only Feb. 7. 1 5 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
TR1PTIK 3,554
SOTD came on #17 at Southern Oaks yesterday. It's a 220-yard Par 3 that was playing just a touch shorter yesterday with a front pin location. I hit my 20* hybrid pure toward the left edge of the green with just a smidge of fade. Landed right in front and trickled on to leave me 3-feet left and above the hole. Only problem is that was the worst place to leave it. Missed the putt by fractions of an inch on the low side and settled for par. Honorable mention is the birdie bomb I dropped on #12 - another Par 3 listed at 159-yards and playing a bit closer to 165 yesterday. After getting a lucky break with the tee shot, I found myself on the front of the green about 40-feet away from the hole. Though I got the ball started on the right line, contact was not good and I honestly thought it was going to stop well short of the hole, but perhaps this is where that EVNROLL-inspired putter face tech actually made a difference. I watched as the ball continued to roll well beyond where I though it should have and trickled its way right over the front edge. Couldn't believe it! If not for my perfectionist nature, I would have easily listed this as my SOTD. 5 Quote Driver: Mizuno ST190 9.5* Aldila RIP Alpha 60 S Fairway Wood: Mizuno ST190 15* Fujikura Atmos Blue 6S Hyrbrid: Mizuno CLK 17* Fujikura Speeder EVO HB Irons: Bridgestone J40 CB (3-PW) Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100 Wedges: Bridgestone Tour B XW-1 54* & 58* Nippon Modus 3 105 Putter: Cleveland Huntington Beach SOFT Premier 4 34" Ball: Snell MTB-X Bag: 2017 Titleist Players 5 Stand Bag
Vegan_Golfer_PNW 4,671
SOTD was what could have made a great par save. Ball just left of a tree 130 out back pin. 3/4 8i cut to 8ft. Sadly missed the par putt but learned I can hit a nice knock down 8. Had to do similar on the next hole and avoid a tree which I did. Somehow I actually carried to long. Had the birdie and par puts both lip out (birdie was 45ft downhill). 5 Quote Driver: Epic Max LS Ventus Black 6x 44.5" (Testing '22 AV Blue and White 65X) 3wHL: Rogue ST LS 75x Tensei AV Blue w/ xlink 3H: 939X UST proforce V2 black F5 hybrid soft stepped 4-AW: 0211 with KBS Tour Stiff 2.5* up 1/4" long Unofficial Review Wedges Zipcore Tour Rack 54/full and 58/mid (review here) Putter: 2021 Phantom X5 35" (Backup: TAIII #2 Review here: TAIII Impact #2 Putter ) Ball: Z Star XV (back up balls ProV1 Left Dot, Vero X1, proV1)
ncwoz 2,782
Was scrambling with a few buddies for the first round of the year on Saturday. We came into 18 at even par, and on the 420 yard par 4 the three of us all had poor tee shots. 2 OB, and the only remaining shot left us with 260 in to the green. With water all along the right side of the fairway, we ended up sitting 2 about 90 yards from the green, needing to get up and down to stay even par for the round. First partner pulled it left into a bunker, next partner pushed his right into another bunker. I knocked a 54 down to about 10', shot of the day no doubt! And we knocked down the putt to save as well 4 Quote Right Handed Driver: 9° Speedzone (HZRDUS Smoke Green 70g X-Stiff shaft) 2 Hybrid: 18° Exotics EXS Pro (Evenflow Black 6.5) (2020 MGS Official Review here) 3/Driving Iron: 18° UiHi Iron (MMT Utility TX 105g shaft) Irons: 4-GW T100 irons (Nippon Modus 120 X-Stiff shafts) (2021 MGS Official Review here) Wedges: 54° & 58° TSW Forged (Dynamic Gold S300) Putter: ER2B (2019 MGS Official Review here) Ball: MAXFLI Tour X Bag: Hoofer Lite WITB thread here
golfish! 1,860
Picked the right line on this hole of the day. Blind tee shot with a hill running along the entire left side. Took a line off the tee that cut the corner and must have hit the slope just right to roll out to 293. Followed by a great second shot just short of the green with an excellent chip that checked up in front of the hole for a tap in birdie! 5 Quote Driver : SIM2 Max 9* MC Kuro Kago Silver 60 Stiff Woods : GS53 3 Wood 14* Mitsubish Tensei Blue 73g Regular Hybrids: XR Project X Stiff (3&4) Irons : 699 Pro Black 5-AW 1* flat KBS Tour V 90 Stiff Shafts Wedges : 52, 56, 60 Putter : Spider Red Bag : lightweight cart bag | Dry Series Bag Ball : TP5 PIX (2019) | ProV1x (2021) Rangefinder : ULT-X Pushcart : M5 GPS DHC Electric Push Cart SoCal, USA Right handed HDCP 16.
AmishJason 471
Amidst an ugly first round of the year, I managed to step on the gas on the 8th tee at Greystone this morning and I managed to stripe one through the gap in the trees and end up in the middle of the fairway. Granted I was back to my usual self right afterwards on the same hole, but I was still smiling. Arcoss doesn't do this justice because right at the hard left in the fairway, the hole climbs up the hillside to the green. 5 Quote Driver: Cobra Speedzone 10.5 Mitsubishi AV Blue S flex Wood: Cobra Bio Cell 3-4 Grafalloy Pro Launch Blue (low launch original version) S flex Hybrids: Taylormade GAPR 3 KBS graphite shaft Strata 4 and 5 hybrids R flex Irons: Strata 6-PW R flex Wedges: Texan Classics 52, 56, 60 R flex Putter: Odyssey Red Ball mallet Ball: Srixon Q Star Tour
