Good birdie chance today. Figured it driver. Hit a slightly fat 4w. Chipped to 9ft and got to excited and pulled the putt.

Bad tee shot landed just off the fairway, 3 wood took it to within 50yrds of the pin, chip onto the green, two putt into the hole for a par 😁😁 first time using my Garmin S60 found it to be an ace bit of kit!

I played yesterday at a golf course close to me, a shorter course, and shot a 41 for 9 (I only had time for nine)! It was in preparation for a high school tournament I have there tomorrow. Through 2 holes I was +3 , I had a 3 putt on one and lost my tee shot to the dreaded snap hook on two. I step up with zero hopes for the next shot and sure enough hit it 20 yards left, pin high though. My dad told me at this point, no more negatives until something positive happened. That's when I hit a beautiful flop shot that went in for birdie from about 35 yards away. Best hole of the day and led me to play better throughout the day.

Only thing I did right on 9 holes at Colonial Terrace, 8i from 129y to within 3'. Judging by the ball mark the ball came within a foot of a hole in one and released across the hole. Made the birdie putt. Still shot +10.

Playing pennant matchplay at Barwon Heads Golf Club on Sunday.  9th hole, 440 yard https://www.barwonheads.golf/cms/course/hole-9/

Solid tee shot into a slight breeze left me 210 from the pin which was back right, just on top of the edge of the steep ledge in the green. Proceeded to carve my 2nd way right with my 7 wood. Played a provisional, again with the 7 wood. Perfect line over the bunkers on the right, drifting back slightly with the breeze. Pitched on the front of the green and ran up to 8 feet, directly below the hole. Didn't look too hard for my first attempt. Holed the putt for a 5 to halve the hole after my opponent 3 putted from the back fringe.

A classic example of the provisional ball being perfect, except usually that means you find the first and it's unplayable😀

Played nine on Tuesday morning. The third at Bedlingtonshire is stroke index 1, 460 yards, uphill and was into a stiff breeze. Just in the left semi, avoiding hitting the green staff raking the fairway bunker. Honestly! The ball was sitting up, I had 226 to the middle of the green, flag was back left, and four wood just looked like it would go straight underneath. So pulled the driver out thinking that if I mishit it, it would still be an OK lay up. Absolutely nailed it at the flag, but couldn't see where it had finished. Got to the top of the hill and my partner told me there was one ball on the green by the flag. ☺️ When we got close enough for me to see it as well, it was about three feet away. Managed to knock it in for 3 nett 2.  Dog in the old life yet!

Interesting - me?

Nearly spat my drink out... I think my best ever is 13 or 14 gir.

On my normal course I would be happy with 12. The only real defense on the course is a few narrow fairways and the greens been heavily protected which always makes for difficult approach shots.

Two great shots today. Only one with evidence. Near hole in one on 140 yard downhill par three over water. Second shot of day was a 39’ putt for par that was one roll away from dropping

One of 9 greens I hit inside 18' this one on lucky #13 at Raritan Landing was an 8i from 133y. Only one I converted for birdie.

One of my playing partners got me good. He waited for me to pull my tee and start walking with my back turned and said "You ever get a hole in one before?" in such a way that made me fantasize for 2 seconds that it went in. I looked back at my ball still sitting up and said "Nope, lots of teasers like that one"

Shot of the day for me came on hole #2.  An uphill par thee to a smallish sloped green.

155 yards to the pin, first time swinging the Edel SMS Pro 8 iron... marvelous results.

IMG_4811.jpeg

Started out right at the flag and had a baby draw.  No, I didn't make the birdie (it has more break than it looks like). But it was a tap in par.

And just like that, the Edel 8 iron becomes your favorite club in the bag.

Great shot, Bryan!

Wait...185 yard 8 iron...we're going to need a blood sample! 🤣

Favorite shot of the day for me was not my own. My oldest stuck his 9/PW iron to inside a foot on one of the holes today. Hit it over a small stream and onto the green (FWIW, he was probably only 25-30 yards to the flag, but still the highlight of the day!

Got my first eagle yesterday, and it was real close to being an albatross.

520 yard par 5 with a front pin location, so probably playing about 505 or so. Hit a great drive about 270 that put me in the right fairway. Followed that up with my driving iron for about 236 that I thought initially could have been in the hole. Morning dew was still on the ground, so I saw it rolled a foot to the right of the pin. Sunk the 3 footer for eagle.

Should have gotten a picture to show the path in the dew, but I was so giddy about getting my first eagle and was really just trying to lock in to make the putt and it never crossed my mind.

I should add, I hooked my drive on the next hole OB. How fitting…

I played in a fundraiser tournament this past week ant Moorpark country club and we were playing pretty well as a group. On the second hole of the canyon crest 9, it’s a par 323 yard par 4 up the hill with hillside on both the left and the right.l, with the hill on the right blocking part of the green sight line. Bunkers protect the front of the green and there are houses behind the green. I hit driver off the tee just trying to make something happen, it looked good from the start and was straight as an arrow. We couldn’t see where it had landed until we drove up to the green. It was sitting 6 ft from the pin with a pretty straight uphill putt for eagle. I sank the putt for my second eagle of the day. Things got hype!

So I finally had the opportunity to play 18 holes this last Saturday and had an absolute blast. The hole of that day for me was hole 11 at Snowflake Municipal. It is a supremely tight tee shot on the Par 5 11th. We are talking at a maximum of maybe 30 yards 1st cut to 1st cut, not to mention it is OB on both sides. Taking both driver and hybrid with me to the tee I decided to keep is straight and play the hybrid (3 wood has been atrocious lately). Hit my tee shot perfectly down the middle about 260 yards, with 200 yards left to the hole. I was actually in the rough and decided on hitting 7 iron just in case I hit a flyer out of the lie I was in. Completely stroked my 7 iron to 15 feet pin high and putting for Eagle. Just missed the putt on the high side and tapped in for birdie. Though it sounds like a simple par 5 play, it was something I was super proud of because I cannot think of a time I shot less than a bogey on the hole. Sorry that was long winded but I had to try and convey in words both my feelings and what happened.

Had a good one yesterday. playing a little executive course near me. At the 100 yard downhill little par 3 I hit a decent shot, on the green but too long.

Friend and I are talking and agree to $20 if I can get it closer with a Driver. I tee one up low and chip one to about 2 feet.

Closest I’ve come to a hole in one in years and it was a driver from 100 yards! Golf is weird. Almost glad it didn’t go in.
