Siamese Moose 726
I've played in windy conditions a few times, but mainly on trips to the coast. It's rare that we get a heavy wind here in SW Ohio that isn't also rainy and miserable. I can't even guess at what the wind speeds were, not to mention the gusts, but I average 245 with my driver, and into the wind I "busted" one 195, and downwind had a couple over 290. #13 is an uphill par 3 where the wind was straight off the right. Today's tee was 166, but it's a least a club uphill. Even though the wind was cross, I figured I needed even more club for it. I took my 7 wood (normally about 195) and aimed it 25 yards right. I pushed it another 15 yards right of that. The resulting wind sweeper ended up pin high, 6' right of the hole. That's 40 yards of wind push! (I missed the putt, but the greens were aerated last week.) It was a difficult round to get judgements right, but it was a tremendous amount of fun! 4 Quote Moose, my cat, is Siamese
Popular Post Chip Strokes 6,751
par 5 9th hole. pushed my layup right and got stuck behind a VERY tall tree 100 yards out from the green. you can see the white flag under the branches on the left side of the tree, just behind the bunker just to make things harder, there was a bunker short and the green was elevated from where i was took my 56, opened the face, and played a game of “how high can i get this ball and how fast can i do it?” ball took off almost straight up in the air, cleared the tree, and landed 8 ft from the cup. the shot was great, but the round of applause from the people eating on the patio above me was the real highlight. 8 2 Quote SIM2 8º | KuroKage XD 70TX SIM 3W 14º | Fujikura Atmos Black Tour Spec 9TX SIM2 5W 18º | Fujikura Ventus Black 10X U500 2i | Fujikura Ventus HB Black 10TX T100 4-PW | Dynamic Gold X7 SM6 52* SM8 56* SM8 60* | Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100 DW | BGT Stability Tour
JerryB 933
I haven't used my 5 wood much this season as I've been very inconsistent with this club specifically and of course with golf in general. I pulled it out a few times today and it really clicked. When I hit it right I get some decent loft and it travels pretty straight. This hole in particular I'm pretty happy with. After a shorter drive I was left with a tall evergreen, then a bunker, between me and the green. This has always been a two shot situation for me, but I pulled the 5 and went for it. Up and over the tree, cleared the bunker, and stopped on a dime about fifteen feet from the pin. No applause for me, but I'm pretty sure the squirrel nearby was suitably impressed, LOL. 6 2 Quote Titleist 385k driver Dunlop 3 and 5 wood Nickent 3DX 3 hybrid Cobra AMP 5-PW Titleist Vokey SM7 50° 54° and Cleveland 588 56° wedges PIng Anser putter
Shapotomous 4,818
I'm a few days late posting this one but I got to play a couple nice courses in OC MD last Sunday & Monday...Lighthouse Sound & Rum Pointe. They are right on the water & it was very windy both days...about a 2 club wind and at times even more. My two shots of the two days both came on the second day at Rum Pointe. The #1 handicap hole is #7 and #2 handicap hole is #16. After a decent drive on the dogleg 434 yard par 4, the first shot of the day was the approach, a 190 yard wind aided high fade 5 iron to about 8' and I made the birdie putt!! On to #16....A nice wind aided drive on the slight dogleg 425 yard par 4 got me to 145 from the middle of the fairway. A lot of wind behind me now & I didn't want to get a high shot up into it and end up way long. A 3/4 swing low 7 iron fade skipped once and stopped quickly about 10' from the cup. Had the benefit of a longer putt from my partner showing me the line and I made mine for a birdie. I felt real good making birdie on those two in the wind! 7 Quote Modern Bag: 849 Pro 9*, Hazrdous Smoke S Flex; 915F 3w, Diamana S+ 70 S flex; Snake Eyes 15*, & 23* Hybrids; JPX 900 Forged 5 - PW, PX LZ 6.0; Tour Action 49*, 53*, 57*; PX LZ 6.5 ; Heppler Fetch; Ball - MTB-Black; Bag - H2NO Classic Bag: Driver - Persimmon; 3w - Speed Slot; 5w - Tour Block; 3 - pw - Dynapower; sw - Ram Tom Watson; putter - bullseye standard or flange. PMookie 17,018
438 yard drive!!!!!! I CLEARLY landed on the cart path, TWICE, and the ball ended-up even with the front edge of the green, just off to the right. The hole was 456 on the GPS, and I walked it off from the middle. JerryB 933
My second shot on hole 14 yesterday was probably my shot of the day. After my drive left me in the trees on the right, I pulled out my 5 iron, hoping to just get it back out onto the fairway. I actually hit it lower than I wanted. Rather than get it about 40-50 yards forward and back onto the fairway, the ball hit the top of a small five foot hill and absolutely launched itself, rolling forever once it hit the ground, coming to a stop about 160 yards away for an easy chip onto the green. 2 Quote Titleist 385k driver Dunlop 3 and 5 wood Nickent 3DX 3 hybrid Cobra AMP 5-PW Titleist Vokey SM7 50° 54° and Cleveland 588 56° wedges PIng Anser putter
Popular Post dlow206 10,582
Going to do this as hole of the day. Hole 18 at my home course, usually a double bogey hole for me. Dog leg right, its more uphill than the picture shows, think this picture was not taken from the tee box. The actual white and blue tee boxes are to down and to the right of this picture. They also did clear out some of the trees on the right, so its not quite as intimidating of a hole. If you hit it to the right of those trees shown on the right in the picture, your ball is going to go down a steep hill and will either be in the worst grass ever or in creek type area. Hit the ball to the left side of the fairway is ok, just makes the hole a bit longer. I hit my drive towards the middle of the fairway, almost to the top of the hill in the fairway. Was left with a second shot about 160 yards to go, slightly uphill, rainy and windy. Hit a flush 6 iron, a yard or two short of the green, but it was a front pin, so i was in good shape. Decided to putt, because although i was in the fairway short, it was only about 25 feet or so from the pin. Good lag putt and tap in for par. First time i have made par on this hole. 10 Quote Follow my golf journey to break into the 80s Tester for the Titleist TSi Driver Spring 2020 MGS Tester for the Fujikura Motore X Shaft Updated 11/13/2021 Driver: TSi 2 - Autoflex Fairway Woods: TSi2 3 wood, 5 wood - Aldila Ascent 60 S Irons: T300 5 to SW - LAGP AXS Red 85 Stiff double soft stepped Wedges: K-grind 2.0 58 wedge - Xcaliber RT Spin Wedge 100 Putter: SIK DW Armlock - LAGP 180 armlock shaft
dlow206 10,582
Hole of the day was a par 3, 145 yards downhill. Normally would choose a 9 iron, but it was 40 degrees outside and i didn't want to miss short so i took an 8 iron. Just slightly pulled it but still landed on the green. Made the 15 foot putt for birdie. 8 Quote Follow my golf journey to break into the 80s Tester for the Titleist TSi Driver Spring 2020 MGS Tester for the Fujikura Motore X Shaft Updated 11/13/2021 Driver: TSi 2 - Autoflex Fairway Woods: TSi2 3 wood, 5 wood - Aldila Ascent 60 S Irons: T300 5 to SW - LAGP AXS Red 85 Stiff double soft stepped Wedges: K-grind 2.0 58 wedge - Xcaliber RT Spin Wedge 100 Putter: SIK DW Armlock - LAGP 180 armlock shaft

Jonny_Crash 249
This was from last weekend, but it was fun. My playing partner teed off first and just crushed a drive. I'd been hit or miss with my driver so I pulled my 3W. I'm not sure what exactly I did, but I wish I could do this every time. I hammered a high baby draw that ended up in the first cut on the left. I measured it out on 18Birdies and ended up just a couple of yards shy of my playing partners drive. 5 Quote Driver: Ping 425LST 9* (Aldila Rouge White 130) 3 Wood: Sub70 Pro (13) (HZRDS Black 60) 3U: Sub70 (19.5) (True Temper Project X U) Irons: Sub70 699 Pro (5-Gap) (Dynamic Gold S300) Wedges: Vokey SM8 54 and 58 (10S) (Project X) Putter: Some old green Nike Blade
Popular Post fozcycle 15,084
The 18th hole at my new home club, Plantation Palms is a very difficult hole for me to navigate. I have only parred it once before and that was several months ago. Today my drive was placed perfectly and my approach shot was a 5W that landed a couple inches from the front edge of the bunker. Now the bunker is about 10-12 feet below the surface of the green. From my stance I could not see the pin, just knew it was a back pin. I chipped up with my 58* Zipcore and found myself just about 5 feet from the pin. THEZIPR23 6,382
25+ years of golf and have never seen this before. 124 in fairway, pin cut 8 feet from right side. Ball starts 2 feet right of flag and starts coming down right on top of it. Couldn't tell exactly what happened from the fairway but could here the hole/flag was hit in the air, ball bounces about a foot away. Get up to the green and there is no ball mark, no damage to the hole nothing. Pick up the ball and see the scar. The hole was not cut perfectly and the ball flew directly into the side of the cup bounced off the pin and out. Bizarre. P.S. Yes, I made the putt. 7 Quote SIM 9.5* (GD XC 6X) SIM 15* (GD DI 7X) 3 DHY (GD DI HY8X) ZX7 4-PW (KBS C Taper S) Vokey SM8 49 08 F ( KBS 610) Vokey SM8 55 08 M (KBS 610) Vokey SM8 59 04 L (KBS 610) Special Select SquareBack 2 33" ProV1 Twitter @THEZIPR23 "One thing Golf has taught me, is that my muscles have no memory." dlow206 10,582
During my round today on a par 3, 9 hole course, for most of the round, I was hitting iron shots that were decent and had good results, but weren't those flushed compressed shots. On hole 7, it was 150 yards, uphill, flushed my 7 iron and it made that sound that you hear when you compressed it well, landed it on the green and had a good look for birdie but missed the birdie putt. 4 Quote Follow my golf journey to break into the 80s Tester for the Titleist TSi Driver Spring 2020 MGS Tester for the Fujikura Motore X Shaft Updated 11/13/2021 Driver: TSi 2 - Autoflex Fairway Woods: TSi2 3 wood, 5 wood - Aldila Ascent 60 S Irons: T300 5 to SW - LAGP AXS Red 85 Stiff double soft stepped Wedges: K-grind 2.0 58 wedge - Xcaliber RT Spin Wedge 100 Putter: SIK DW Armlock - LAGP 180 armlock shaft
