What was your Shot of the Day?

I had two shots yesterday. Both were drives on back to back par 4s. Holes 4 and 5. Two drives that were high, long and straight. Both were in the 225 yard range and both shots were found comfortably middle of the fairway. Of course I thinned both second shots. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Isn’t that normal? 😆  I feel like I do the same thing. Beautiful tee shot and mess up the next one. That’s just how it is sometimes.

I had a couple really good chips that were left to tap in pars, but the best quality shot would have been an 8 iron for a layup on a par 5, 475-yard hole. A (I assume) flyer lie, where I was blocked out by trees on the right. Took it 166 over the trees to the middle of the fairway leaving me 94 yards out. Strike was pure and flew perfectly. Game fell apart shortly after that though...

Don’t you just love the “game fell apart shortly after” part? 🤦🏻‍♂️ And yet we continue you play. 😂

I was 208 out on a par 5 with the wind coming at me, I hit my HyWood dead at the pin and it landed about 15 feet away. Ended with a 2 putt par, my only on the day.

I faced a 110 yard shot over a pond to an elevated green.  I fatted my GW and the ball bounced off the top of the retaining wall on the far side of the pond and landed 20 feet from the pin.  Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.

I was hitting some of the best drives of my life today with my driver but fairway woods are new to my bag, so I will have to give it to my high loft 3 wood.

Hole 15 is a short par 4, played about 320 today. On the left is a very steep hill, which often times will funnel the ball back to the fairway if its dry, but will stay up there when wet. On the right, is water that is about 220 yards out and that body of water continues to the front right of the green. There is also a cart path to the right side of the rough and then cuts back through the fairway at about 220 yards.

If you block or slice a driver, its likely to end up in that body of water. So i pulled my high lofted 3 wood (16.5 degrees) and flushed it, low spin power fade, dead down the middle. Ended up pass the cart path. Luckily I hit the ball down the center. If i blocked it or sliced it with that strike, it would have been in the water that i was trying to avoid by not pulling driver. Didn't think the water could have even been in play with my 3 wood.

... Two shots again on back to back holes. About a 15 mph wind at my back and launched a 6 iron high with the wind to a few feet on a 187yd shot. Next hole back into the wind I hit the same 6 iron to a 5 feet from 161 and a 26yd difference with the same club. Made birdies on both holes.

(As an aside the next hole was a 175yd par 3 with a sideways wind and I outsmarted myself with the same 6 iron playing a cut that just didn't move much with the wind leaving an impossible up and down from a very deep bunker with virtually no sand in it. I was lucky to save bogie with a long lag from 45 feet up over a ridge then back down to the hole.)

Shot of the day was my second on a par 5. Hit a great drive that ended up in some pretty thick rough right. I had 195 to an elevated green, adjusted to ~210. My lie was partially settled down - the kind of lie that feels like you've gotta give it 110% for it to come out decent, otherwise it's coming out dead. This was the view looking into the elevated green, with a bunker guarding in front. Little tough to see, but the pin was middle left over the bunker.

Gave it the full treatment, and it came out perfectly. Tracked right for the flag, and was just hoping the distance was good. Ended up pitching about 3 feet past the hole and rolling out to 10 feet just past the flag. Easy 2 putt birdie!

18th hole, 2 main levels to the green, and i’m in a trap with a downhill lie, and i need the ball to barely crest the slope so i don’t roll off the green into the fairway for a potential double or snowman, and sand is not my strength. ended up hitting the best sand shot i maybe ever have. perfect swing and sand contact, ball floats a little in the air then drops rolls and then almost stops before barely cresting the hill like a well struck putt, down the steep slope to the bottom level of the green, picks up a little steam and ends about 12 feet from the cup.  Drained the put for par. When our group tallied up scores, i won the day by 4 strokes. can’t ask for much more than that.

Two shots same hole yesterday at Windmill Lakes.

Par 5 #4, monstered a drive 304 yards to just in the right rough, then killed a 3 hybrid 237 yards that ended up in the back right bunker. So, I can get there in two.

That's awesome, I only think I've seen college golfers do that.

My shot of the day came on the 17th hole. I pulled my tee shot left into a fairway bunker. My second shot was a nice easy 7 iron from about 145 yards to 18 feet and two putted for par.

Had to be the up and down on 5 today.  397 from an elevated tee and I slapped a 3 iron that landed immediately next to a fairway bunker.  The super likes to grow some of the heather grass around certain sides of these traps so I am trying to just hack a PW down towards the green as best as possible.  It left me with a 40 yard pitch that landed into a plug and bounced out.

So now I have a mud ball with a downhill lie to an elevated and crowned green thats shaped like a half dome.

Pin is back left and I hit a beauty of a pitch that landed once and somehow managed to spin and land maybe 6' above the hole.

Sunk the putt for my 4 and RAN to the 6th tee box...
