MaxEntropy
My wife and I have been in our house for 22 years and haven't been a fan of our fireplace for almost that long. We had some painting done and had the fireplace wall painted as a "feature wall" and really made us decide our fireplace was gross. Demo started shortly after the paint dried. I just need to cut off a foot or so from two 7" wide pieces of the wainscoating to cover gaps between the shelves, so I hate to invest in a power tool for it. tony@CIC
Frustrating problem: I laid large (18"X18") on our enclosed Lani using premixed thinset and the tiles are still not set after a couple of weeks . I assume it's because of the amount of thinset (the concrete had a lot of dips) and the outside temp in the evenings. I'll never use premix for outside use again. Hopefully I'll be able to grout this weekend and upload some pics. Tarheelvolvo
Hey guys, got a question for the brain trust - buddy gave me some old cabinets that I am hoping to put into my basement workshop. It's all hallow cinder block walls down there, so what type of anchor should I use to hang the uppers? Looking at tapcon, toggle bolts, concrete anchors...gets confusing! They will need to hold a decent amount for tools, batteries, clamps, solvents, screws, etc... Wouldn't think any single cabinet would hold more than 200lbs, though. Also been thinking about a french cleat system to make hanging them much easier, or even putting up a rough framing wall in front of the cinder blocks and hanging the cabinets into the wall studs. Welcome your thoughts as I finally build out the new shop! Welcome your thoughts as I finally build out the new shop! I prefer using powder actuated nail gun “Ramset”. They make charges for all different concrete including block. Or tapcon works too just a little more tedious. Will cost a little more if you have to by the gun.
