We did a ton this year but this has to be my favorite. My parents helped us build this in our family room.

Almost finished building myself a new smoker, will get it done tomorrow before seasoning it and hopefully getting some ribs cooked. Sunday morning   Monday afternoon

The biggest thing I haven't been able to fix so far is the lack of a simulator.

Thanks I'll post pictures tomorrow of the wall that I did today and the closet. I have 2 bedroom doors to hang tomorrow also which will make me feel good along with running the pex for the heating upstairs.

Got the two bedroom doors hung, closet mostly built and the last of the electrical done. I would be pushing it to be done before puppies hit the ground but have to make a trip to see a family member battling cancer next week when she gets out of the hospital.

I had planned on finishing the trim this weekend and the benches.  But Mother Nature has other plans.  Can’t cut inside with the wife’s asthma... kicking the can down the road till next weekend.

Just had a consult for solar on the house and it turns out that the price of my solar panels for 100% usage of my electricity costs less than my electric bill for the winter. Sounds like it's a good idea to me.

Door handles are now in the doors and got most of my nailers in place for hanging drywall need a few more board then I'm done.

Ran a bunch of pex today so when my drywall gets delivered this week I can drywall things up and run heating. Got only a few pieces left to run and my heating system can be hooked up. Now I just need a freaking plumber to get back to me so I can get things buttoned up and the heat on. Puppies hit the ground in 2 weeks then my free time is GONE.

  • 2 weeks later...

Not improvement but fixing the already improved?

started pellet stove Monday, auger wasn’t kicking on. Cleaned it all out, hopper tubes etc again (I clean every spring deeply so usually no issues). Jumped out the vacuum switch that allows the auger to turn...nada.

removed auger motor and ordered new one came today. Bench tested old one at work proved it was bad. Swapped and went to start (luckily didn’t put it back together) nada. Jumped out the pressure switch WALA operation.
All in all bad pressure witch and auger motor. Good thing stove place down the road has it in stock. Fire tomorrow!

We got fire. Had a little mishap as I forgot to tighten up the exhaust pipe (I can see @tommc23and @bens197 rolling their eyes now). Was right there when I started it though and gave myself a 🤦‍♂️Dumbass palm. We warm now just in time for the snow today

Wow....lots of great upgrades & detailed design and finish work in that kitchen!!  I like the tile floor, soffet and trim work above the cab's!  Nice recessed lighting & lights over the island too!

Whats the plan for the backsplash?  Good luck getting a decision from the decorating committee, I hope your experience was better than mine.  I was taping tile patterns on the wall for 2 months while that decision was being made!    🤣

One thing I'll mention here about the fridge which I wish I had done but I will probably do this winter...  Take the drywall off the wall behind the fridge and let it recess that 2.5" into the wall cavity.  A friend of ours did this and it may seem like a small amount but those couple inches make a real difference in how far the fridge sticks out from the side cab's.  Of course the wall can't have elec or plumbing in it where the fridge will slide back so that may be a limiting factor.
