We’ll after several months of trying to get pricing for an addition we found out some numbers yesterday that we will not be able to afford.
After much discussion over the past few months and talking yesterday wife and I have decided to sell. We bought low and will sell high and be able to pocket some. Going to move in with my parents and try to wait the market out for the year.

Tough because we love our spot. Have done a ton of work to get it to where it is and that work is Definitely going to pay off but sure does sting a little coming to the realization we have to make the move in order to get a space for the family where we can comfortably entertain indoors.

shooting to have it in the market by the end of the month emptied out ready to go, wish me luck.

God speed Sir.  Buy a back brace… I shoulda have.  It’s been a sprint to the finish here.  Dead tired.

Good to go. Plenty is going to be tossed. Bringing the kids stuff, and a few other things to my parents rest to storage. Also have my brothers lol I’ll be sipping coffee!

God luck!!  Seems like you have a plan and if you’re selling a home right now seems to be the time to do it.

I’m not the “Lawyer” type but I do believe Tommy has one hell of a decent case here.

I am far from a lawyer person my family could have sued multiple times for some things and they were solid cases but we never do because we don’t like lawyers much, sorry if you’re a lawyer. This time I am going to have to suck it up and just do it.

I think most of us feel the same.  There are times where you have to do the right thing for you.

I am wondering if anyone has any ideas on how I can get the sidewalk in from of my house removed?

The reason I ask is because I have some old tree roots that are causing mushrooms in my front yard, these roots have also caused the aforementioned sidewalk to lift and break apart, I also need to grade my front yard to better direct water away from the house toward the ditch. I would do it myself but I am not sure if the ordinance officer would like it too much or if it would cause any issue in the future related to selling or inspecting the house or anything

Important notes: the sidewalk ends on my property and it doesn't really continue the rest of the way down to the intersection, I live in Michigan

Sidewalk laws are generally based on municipality, but typically permit offices are pretty friendly and helpful towards homeowners who are looking to do work on their own and can let you know what your options are. If the sidewalk is a tripping hazard you may be able to get the city to take care of it.
In cities I’ve worked in, many require that removed sidewalks be replaced to the standard of original construction (even if the surrounding sidewalk looks like crap). In that case it might be more cost effective to do the grading work on your property and leave the sidewalk alone (possibly run a perforated drain pipe below it if it’s too high to allow water to drain off your yard). If you do go the route of replacement, adding plastic root barriers along the side could prevent future mushrooming and cracking due to roots.

I am the same but sometimes ya just need them for stuff like this. I’m a firm believe lawyers and politicians ruined the world but some lawyers are necessary.

I purchased a SunJoe dethatcher and aerator last year and used it before the winter to get up some of the weeds. The weeds are back this year but it’s better than a huge bare spot in my yard, every time I sees it pours and washes it away even when it’s not calling for rain. Today I used the aerator head and got up quite a bit of dense packed dirt and a ton of weeds out and some dead grass. I’m going to seed again tomorrow and in two or three weeks I’m going to dethatch and seed again. I’m going all out trying to keep my yard from turning to mud during the winter because that makes my house a mess.

Good luck on the sale, and hope the moving out goes smoothly, moving is never fun. We have a move in the near-ish future. Current house just can't support the 3 kids.

Gave an assist to my brother and sister this weekend.
brother is finishing his basement and helped frame out the walls:

My sister just had a new bathroom installed but only had the electrical roughed, got tasked with the finish. Need to head back and do the breakers but good to go otherwise:

Replaced the broken storm drain, 7.5 feet deep. Proud of myself that I was just about spot in when I marked it with the sewer camera and locator. Only problem is it has been collapsed for years so lots of sediment build up that we weren’t able to snake through. Had the city out yesterday and we are back on track with water flowing the length of the pipe. Next week we test out the driveway and attach the line gutter that isn’t tied in.  So far the repair only cost me an expensive bottle of bourbon! It’s all about who you know lolAFA6E9E0-0AF5-4545-A053-47213F860443.jpeg.d3a49452ddc4b0d565661f9875c91dad.jpegA327996C-9B37-404E-8014-D884B84D0EC2.jpeg.dffd733e0310c4cdfd5d8384fc759755.jpeg55AF42EB-1259-42B3-AADE-40484FB54625.jpeg.a877f2a0bb26c5cf22c19001136206b7.jpeg

Filled the pool up today because it’s going to be 90 the next two days and it’s nearly June so why not. Knew I needed a new pump and filter, bought the house with the pool and don’t know how old they are. Both are leaking from areas so I’m going to try it again tomorrow and see if I can get it to stop leaking. If not the new filter and pump are getting ordered tomorrow night. Minor setback at best knew I needed them was just pushing it off. On the good new side, my neighbor is fixing the dilapidated garage he just purchased. He knew it needed work but not as much as he is doing. Walls were rotted, roof rotted, roof collapsing in on itself. He told me he wanted to tear it down and put up a pole building but the town has stupid codes that he needs a retention pond for any building like that???? What????

Busting hump to finish up projects at the house, pictures on Tuesday and on the market Thursday next week.

had a friend over to help with some trim work, he’s a great carpenter I just helped cut 😂. Taking a break tonight (we have been sleeping on a pull out couch) and my body is fried. Did a little caulking on the trim we did (old dog chew marks and unfinished from when I did the basement renovation).

You should see my trim work!  It looks like I did it after killing a 30 pack of Miller High Life… and I don’t even drink!

My caulking is super mediocre lol. I probably keep companies in business for a year with how much I use.

Just had a bad home project. Trying to patch a hole in the ceiling we cut out when we had a leak in the upstairs bathroom. Dealing with plaster was miserable. Couldn’t get anything to fit right and all my cuts were off. Nothing went right…. Unfortunately I’ll be calling someone to do the drywall work. I do t even want to post a picture it’s that bad of a job
