Practice Round yesterday was good tied for low round with a 72. I played solid except a double bogey but I brought it back.

 

Today is the first round of the 72 hole qualifier for the All Navy Golf Team.

Well I played bad yesterday turns out I was severally dehydrated so I got an IV yesterday and played much better today. I am 2 shots out from making the team with 1 round to go.

Well I let the pressure get to me and I couldn't calm my nerves. I shot 35/43 and missed by 1 shot. It's been a long time since I have had any pressure and this was a definite learning experience.

Sorry, man.... We all know how HARD you worked! Which means how much better prepared you are for the next one. But puhleeeez don't neglect to also prepare your body ..ie. HYDRATE!!!!

This was a big learning experience for me. I learned what I am capable of and also that I haven't been under this kind of pressure in years!!! It's hard to replicate that kind of pressure. My coach and I are going to work to get a go to shot that I can fall back on under pressure. I made the mistake of trying to go back to my cut because I still don't trust the draw in those situations. I learned that I can play well also. That -1 35 on the front was the best 9 of the entire tournament for me. I am trying to make that the positive take away.

Well after a huge disappointment and learning experience 3 weeks ago. I was able to bounce back and handle the nerves. I played it the VGA West Regional at Rio Secco in Las Vegas. The top 2 get to advance to the Championship at Olympic Club and TPC Harding Park. I had a rough first day and I was 3 shots back from 2nd place. With 5 holes left I was still 3 shots back. I lipped out and eagle on 14 and tapped in for birdie while the guy in 2nd made a double. On 15 I piped a 3 wood and hit a 50* Wedge to 6 ft and made another birdie to get into 2nd place. I played great golf the last 3 hole narrowly missing 2 more birdies and I finished in 2nd and I am headed to the Championship!!

 

I am most excited about how I was able to handle the pressure and play the last 5 holes near perfect. It was a huge improvement from my disastrous final 9 holes 3 weeks ago.

Well I am 5 weeks away for the VGA Championship and I have got everything dialed in. Got my driver reshafted after a fitting and finding out my Fujikura Speeder Pro 68X tipped 1.5” only frequencies at 262 CPM which is not even close to stiff enough. I now have the Tensei Pro White 70TX that is at 277 CPM and I love it. I have played 2 rounds and haven’t missed a single fairway left. I no longer fear the big nasty hook. I also got a new 3 wood as it was the last piece of the puzzle. I have been struggling with the 3 wood and now I have a club I am 100% confident with.

I have been focused on my fitness and swing. I am down 23lbs and my coach fixed a couple small issues with the swing. My irons have been great and the chipping is vastly improved. I am still putting very well. I am headed to BlastMotion HQ this week to try their product and see if it will help me.
