Well in an unexpected chain of events my ball for this year will be the Snell MTB and MTB Black. I was fully committed to going with the OnCore Elixr but I happened to win 4 dozen MTB in a giveaway.

I really like the MTB. No problems with spin on the irons and I get tons of carry off the drive. Hope they do well for you.

 

That said, I'm eager to try out the OnCore Elixr. I'll echo jacustomgolf's question. Whadya think of it?

To me the MTB and the Elixr were identical in performance and feel. I have been playing the MTB off and on since the release and love the ball. In all honesty the only reason I chose the Elixr was because it comes in Yellow. For some reason when I was playing the Yellow Z Star I seemed to be able to focus better on the ball that was the only reason I was drawn to the Elixr over the MTB. If I was buying them I would have bought the Elixr in Yellow because the price is the same and the performance is the same.

So first real Stroke play tournament is the VGA on Feb 25th. And them I have signed up for the SCGA Mid-Am qualifier March 19th.

Took about 2 weeks off from making full swings because of some wrist pain and then played yesterday. Everything felt off but no surprise my short game and putting were fantastic because I have been focusing on this part since I couldn't swing. Looking forward to a round monday with my coach to work on some more stuff and get things back in place. I might be able to. It didn't bother me at all yesterday. I think the constant hitting balls of a mat might have irritated it a little. I might try to tape it if it starts to bother me again.

Yea I would run down to the local drug store and pick up a wrist support.  As much as you pound balls it would be good to have in your bag.

Last time I had a wrist injury I bought one of the skills gloves that have the wrist support and strap that helped a lot. I may have to find it or buy a new one.

I know hitting off a mat bothers mine. I try not to hit off mats if possible.

I recommend the "Wrist Widget." Found it based on a recommendation on MGS and it did good things for my wrist getting it back to healthy.

 

$30 on Amazon. Consider that $30 well spent. You should probably wear it some throughout the day as well until you're feeling all the way better.

Well that's how mine started too. It would hurt on the range and maybe for a hole or two then feel fine. Then it would be sore throughout the round. Then it would be a little sore the rest of the day but feel fine the next.

 

Before I knew it, my wrist was hurting all the time. Brushing my teeth, changing the channel, picking up my kids, you name it. I was stubborn and waited too long which made my recovery long too as well.

 

Just my two cents, but you may want to nip this in the bud before it gets that bad. Especially considering the competitive play schedule you've got coming up.

I have played for the team before but I haven't tried out in a few years because my last ships schedule didn't work out.

During part of my career I worked at Ft Gordon which is just outside of Augusta, Ga. They would occasionally have the all services matches on Gordon Lakes. Some excellent golf during that tournament and I enjoyed following the golfers.

Played my practice round yesterday for my SCGA Mid-Am qualifier. The course fits me pretty well. If I continue to putt well I know I will do very well.

Well no good news here. I had my Qualifier yesterday and they had the greens tricked out. I hit the ball very well and i am very happy about that. Unfortunately if you were above the hole you were basically lagging putts to the hole. I would play below the hole and the ball would spin back 10ft and I would have a 25ft putt. So I would play past the hole for the spin and the ball wouldn't spin. Overall it was a great learning experience and I learned a lot. I have another tournament Sunday. I am really looking forward to playing again on a course I am very familiar with. With the ball striking being as good as it is I should be able to score low.
