Traditionally I have felt a bit awkward when people recognize my naval service especially in uniform. The more I think about it the less I feel that way. Us service men and woman today chose to serve for various reasons. My father in law, a Vietnam veteran with 2 Purple Hearts served through the draft and his experience coming home was vastly different than my homecoming from Iraq and Afghanistan. He is finally getting the much deserved recognition for his service which makes me extremely proud to continue to serve this great country.

Having served in the Navy during Vietnam Nam and coming home is something I hope no one ever has to go through. The level of disrespect to those that served at that time was astounding - I hope it's something that our current and future men and women in uniform never have to go through.

Here's another thank you for all who served and are serving this great nation.

Every holiday, I decorate my front fence with beads tied to that special day.  On this Veteran's Day, here's my fence decorated in red and blue!

I am Humbled by the service and dedication of those who are serving or have served to protect our country.  Thank you all for fighting to protect our democracy and the rights of all American citizens.

It is an honor to serve the nation's people.

My last promotion came through in Tikrit Iraq 2005.

As November is also Military Family Month, these are my heroes whose love never waivered, always behind the scenes most people forget the families of Veterans also serve quietly without much support.  The two youngest did not choose their service but did so with grace and compassion.
This photo is 18 years old and my daughter and son are well on their way to personal success as adults now.  Wife is just as beautiful as ever, she hasn't changed. 

As I do every Veterans Day, heading to the course to play for every Veteran who for whatever reason cannot play golf today.  It will be more crowded out there today even if nobody else is on the course because today more than other days those of the brotherhood of arms, men and women, will be in my thoughts.

Happy Veterans Day to all those who served their country. I am proud to say that my Grandfather fought in Europe in WWI(Army) and my Father(Army Air Corps) served stateside in WWII. I was serving abroad during the Vietnam War(Navy). My Brother-in-Law served in Viet Nam(Marines). My cousins served (Navy & Air Force) and my Nephew served in the Middle East(Navy). I have 2 Brother-in-laws that were in Viet Nam(Army). My Son-in-law served in the Nat’l Guard (FL) as did my Stepfather(KY). My Grandson-in-law served in the Middle East(USMC). My family has a proud heritage of serving this country we live in. Take a moment and thank a Veteran today.  I am very proud to say that one of my Grandsons graduated from Air Force boot camp yesterday in Texas.

We went to IHOP today for Red White & Blue pancakes!
