F8

Recommended Posts

I know there was some testing done on cobra connect for MGS, but also heard something cool on the Rick Shiels review for the irons, that cobra would be including more cobra connect sensors for your other clubs with the purchase of f8 irons...seems pretty sweet. I wonder if they would sell it separately since it seems smaller then arc costs 360.

Was disappointed to see no “X” flex option for F8 amongst the standard shaft options. If I'd have to pay a stiff (pun intended) upcharge for X-flex, that would dissuade me greatly.

I'm sure that Cobra is going to offer some no upcharge X flexes. The F7 had some Hzrdus in two colors, the tour blue and green among others.

I am going to a driver fitting next week and am hoping they have this one in the cart. Really want to compare it to the new Mizuno and Ping G400.

I'm in the same boat. The Cobra looks stealthy, and the Mizuno just looks fabulous (I'm a sucker for blue drivers) whereas the G400's been a favourite of mine for a while now due to the performance you can get from it.

My Cobra F6 is a beautiful Blue IMO... I've never gamed a Mizuno driver so that would fun.

Is the milled face just to promote better feel like in putters?

... It allows Cobra to get closer to the max legal limit CT limit which equates to higher ball speeds. Tour Pro's have their drivers checked by the OEM selecting those driver faces closest to 257, and while the legal limit is 239, with a + or - tolerance of 18 the Pro's push the envelope and get to 257. In theory the milled faces of the F8's are much closer to 257 which was difficult in the past because OEM's could not take a chance on driver tolerances over the limit, so they were closer to 239 and under. I am not an engineer and do not know how much this makes a difference for an average golfer with a swing speed of 85-100, but the theory is of course, longer drives.

My guess is (being an engineer) that most amateurs would not be able to find a difference between 239 and 257. That really is a minute difference, in the grand scheme. Most amateurs would also not be able to tell the difference between drivers years ago when Callaway had the non-conformer that they marketed. The longest-hitting ams, maybe. The average joe playing 18 only on the weekend? Not likely, in my opinion. It's been years since I was in the materials world of engineering, and did more of that in college than in the real world, but my instinct is ,most wouldn't be able to feel or see a difference.

Not getting along with my Ping G400 SFT 3-wood at all. You can't really go after it off the deck as it's inconsistent. My Titleist 915F is a monster off the tee but hard to hit off the fairway. Hope the F8 3/4 fairway fits my needs for a consistently long wood off the deck

I too like the F8 generally speaking. I don't care much for the decal things on the crown. Pretty sure if I could order one or have them removed I'd not notice anything.

I'm getting driver fever a tad but not anxious to ditch my SLDR. It will take a really good fit to get it kicked out of my bag. I'm almost scared to try something newer.

I just ordered the F8 after it destroyed my Epic in the Simulator. Ball speed up 6 mph distance up 11 yards, spin is 2200. Plus I was comparatively speaking allover the place with my Epic. F8 was a straight as could be.

The F8+ wasn't quite as good as the F8. F8 felt better and actually spun less.

My specs were F8 at 9.5, NV 65 S shaft, standard length.

Really have a major itch, to buy the F8 3/4 fairway wood.

Went and hit the F8 fairway, felt great.

Then I hit a F7 3/4 wood, So I ended up buying a F7 3/4 wood & F7 3/4 hybrid.

Looking for feedback from those that have tried the F8 fairway wood. I have listed my Ping G400 SFT 3-wood for sale as I want to pull the trigger on the F8 3/4 wood with the Aldila Blue regular flex shaft
