Looks good. I've hit the SC and really like it. Hope to get to hit in next time I got for a fitting

Received my Fli Hi today and thought it would be a good idea to have a thread to discuss this club from the MP18 lineup

 

 

 

 

... Sweet. Just an awesome club and one of my favorites. Had I not just bought new 4/5 UDi heads only I was gonna pick up the 4/5 Fli Hi's. Let us know how it works out for you but I am pretty sure I already know.   ;)

I'll be waiting to hear your thoughts on the shaft for sure. Still on the fence about pulling the trigger with the same shaft I'm playing, or test out something graphite and more hybrid-y.

i also picked up a FLI-HI 3 iron... it has a PX LZ 6.0 and it is freaking awesome... it is a half club longer than my last MP-H5 and the feel is much better. I am very excited about this club and i am trying to figure out how i am going to build the rest of my set around this club... yeah its that good that i am using it as my starting point. 

The bag is in turmoil right now...

 

the only sure things are:

 

MP-18 FLI-HI 3 iron with PX LZ shaft 

Scotty Cameron X7M Dual Balance 36 inch 

 

The rest is up in the air however i am leaning towards Mizuno

Got them same shaft in mine (and in my jpx 900 tour irons) hoping this club 🕃 nicely in between my 4 iron and 16.5 3w

My best bud also has the 900 tours with that shaft... a super smooth feeling shaft with a buttery soft head makes for an unreal combo... it would be just odd though if we ended up with the exact same setup. 

The bag is in turmoil right now...

... Ymmv but I like having a hybrid shaft in my 3 DI. I have the same Recoil 95 shafts in my 5/4 UDi's that I have in my irons but use a hybrid shaft in my #3 for a little more distance. I have a Cobra Utility set at 19* and 19* UDi and have hybrid shafts in both.

I have them in a 4,5 iron with px lz5.5 half in longer but weakened lofts to smooth into my sc irons. I absolutely love the feel and flight of these clubs, very penetrating flights. I was using 716tmb's previously and the were very nice but these feel/sound a little bit better.

I think I saw Speith had a hybrid shaft in his 3i TM-B... I am definitely open to trying it, just don't know where to get my hands on one to demo. Spent quite a bit this year already and blindly buying and building this 3i over and over sounds costly!

Yea Speith has a hybrid shaft in his 3i. Getting hands on for you may be hard but a GG might be able to do it.

Unfortunately, we don't have any of those. There's a Mizuno demo on 12/2 at a course nearby. Gonna go talk to the rep and see what they got, and what I can demo.

Joe, how does this compare to your hybrid/comparable lofted club? I'm all in for Driving Irons.

Haven't had a chance to hit it yet, but it's 19* loft which is what the stock loft is on my hybrid (though I believe I currently play it at 20 because it's pretty long).

I am really hoping it gives me a carry distance of around 225 and give me some more accuracy, especially off the tee.  I never felt my hybrid was a "safe shot" like I did with my 4 iron.

Got to hit MotorCityKitty's MP18's and Fli-Hi a couple weeks ago in Dallas. Way too much club for me, but I was really pleasantly surprised how forgiving they were. Ball feels BEAUTIFUL coming off these clubs!

I bought a set of the MP18 MMC model irons with PX 6.5 shafts. I was originally disappointed to hear that the MMC model irons only come 4i - Gap. To get a 3i in my bag I would have to go with the Fli-Hi model. My ball flight is typically off the charts high and I was reluctant to go down this road. With that being said I am so glad that I decided to. MGoBlue100 will attest that I call my 3i a “3i on steroids!” I have never hit a 3i farther/straighter than I do with this one. My ball flight is a nice piercing ball flight. I hit it almost as long as my 3 wood and can control it in the wind better than any other club in my bag. I highly recommend the MP18s to anyone. The Fli-Hi and the MMC models feel incredible on well struck shots (feel is as good as a true blade when struck in the center of the face) and on miss hits, feel is still good but the penalty on a miss hit is no where near as penal as other irons I have hit.

Had my first range session with the Fli Hi today and the results were good.  It was windy and I was hitting old, cold, range balls so not a really good feel on distance, but I can comment that the Fli HI is definitely the best feeling/sounding hollow-bodied utility iron I've hit.  Great work by the Mizuno acoustics engineers here.

 

I did really enjoy how easily I could flight it down; something I was not able to do with my hybrid.  I am play on Friday so it will be fun to put in play.  Looking forward to see how it performs.

I went to the range and hit some with this vs my 3 iron. My iron wasn't as long as this, but the ball flew higher. The MP18 was quite a bit longer, with a more boring trajectory. I'll be playing next week a couple times, so it will be curious to see on-course.
