Clicgear vs caddytek

tony@CIC

Recommended Posts

So my wife wants to get me a push cart for Christmas - I told her the caddytek got great reviews on MGS. But I guess I should ask for a comparison between the two. We live adjacent to our Club's golf course so transporting it in the car is not a consideration nor the ease of folding and unfolding . However I would like it to be compact since we don't have a lot of storage space. Also I don't need a lot of accessories. Oh and quality, value and price are a consideration.

So your thoughts: 4 wheel vs. 3?

Cliche are vs. Caddytek?

Is there a clear winner ?

+1 clicgear. I have the 3 wheel one and love it.

To me, it seems more stable if you let it fly downhill than the 4 wheel ones. I play with a guy who lets his go and it dumps his clubs from time to time.

Tbh, I don't think you can go wrong with either. Just pick which one you like the look of better.

Another vote for the Clic Gear. The only warning I have is if you have a stand bag with a kick plate that sticks out at the bottom you're going to want to get rid of it. It sits so sideways on the push cart that you end up wrestling with it all day. Get one where the plate is flush in the bottom of the bag instead of protruding and you'll be set

I used it with a stand bag for a while and it stayed pretty stable. That being said, switching to a cart bag was sooooo much better. It just takes the cart from riding like a Camry to riding like a Cadillac.

I had a 3 and it was great. The guys who had the 4 after a while wished they had the 3.

Too bad I didn't know 6-7 months ago you were looking. I gave my Clicgear away. After I blew my knees out my walking days are over.

I can attest to the clicgear 3.5 being an excellent cart. I have used mine extensively and it is a well put together.

Plus, it folds into a very compact cube for storage or transportation.

My wife got me a clicgear (3 wheel) cart a few years back for Christmas and it really is fantastic. I haven't used other brands or models, but I really only have good things to say about my clicgear!

I guess I'll speak for the Caddytek owners of the world here. I love mine and there is no doubt that they are cheaper than a Clicgear when comparing apples to oranges here. However, I will say that the Clicgear has been arguably the best push cart for a reason, it does everything really well. I honestly don't think that there is that much of a difference between them, but if you're making a first investment in the market, I'd lean the Clicgear, especially if the wife is paying!

I mean, it's not my money!  ;)

Plus, I've sold a lot of both of them when I worked at Dicks, most perfered the Clicgear because of the build and I get that, but I think the Caddytek is the better dollar for dollar value of the bunch. But, considering this is a gift for Christmas, splurge a little bit and get the one that most people prefer.

I think at $119, the going rate of the Caddytek I own at TGW, you will not find a better deal and I personally wouldn't spend the extra $100 for the Clicgear as I don't see $100 worth of difference. But, the name of the Clicgear, its solid performance in the MGS tests, and the brand cache it has built up makes it the one I think I'd want as a gift if I was getting one.

I gave my wife the details so hopefully the 'right' one is under the tree. This is going to be my first try at walking our course. It's about a 1/3 of a mile to the first tee from out house (we live about 100 yds from the 17th green) so I'll be definitely getting a workout.

Walmart had the caddytek 4 wheel for around $100.

If price is an issue, have your wife call clicgear and ask if they have any refurbished carts. They fix returned carts as good as new (basically replace defective parts) and sell them at least 20% off.

That is how I got my current model which looked brand new out of the box, and works fantastic, shipped right to my door.

The only thing clicgear warned me about when I bought it was that they do not guarantee that the steel support will not have some scratches. I told them to knock some dents in it to make me look tough!

Here is the link to the refurb 3.5+ carts. You can ask for whatever model you are interested in when you call

http://www.clicgearusa.com/reconditioned_carts_p/cgc35-x.htm

Understandably, you don't really have a choice of color - you get to pick from whatever they have.

$169 versus $220 for the same cart.
