Flipper554
Look what came through the mail today. I have replaced a lot of putter grips over the years but I never got one that came with a ball marker and an 11 page booklet explaining the science behind it. I just installed it so I can't wait to give it bit of a workout. cksurfdude, deejaid, tommc23 and 3 others 6 Quote Driver: Cobra F8 Tour length 3W: Cobra King F7 3/4 Wood 5W: Cobra King F7 5/6 Wood Hybrid 3/4: Cobra F7 20.5* Irons: 5 to PW Taylormade P790 A Wedge: 48* Vokey SM6 F grind S Wedge: 54* Vokey SM6 M grind L Wedge: 58* Vokey SM6 M grind Putter: Rife Two Bar Hybrid 35" P2 Aware Tour grip Ball: Taylormade TP 5X Bag: Hot Z Canadian flag 🇨🇦

deejaid
I got to take my new Cure CX2 with P2 Reflex grip to the practice green yesterday. Both the putter and grip seemed nice, but it was a totally new feel for me so I don't know what exactly to attribute to the grip or the putter. I wish I had taken my Ping Zing 5 gamer along to side by side them. The P2 grip is comfortable and I do like the shape much better than the Super Stroke grip I'd tried previously. It is a larger grip but feels more natural due to the shape. It will take a few more practice sessions and some rounds to decide if this whole high MOI, oversized grip thing is for me or not. deejaid
Well, I've taken the Cure CX2 with P2 Reflex Grip to the practice green 5 times now and I don't think this whole high MOI large grip thing is for me. I have always been a pretty good putter, I learned as a kid to grip the putter with both index fingers pointing down each side of the shaft. That method has always kept me from getting wristy in the stroke and it has worked for me. The large putter grips like my previous Super Stroke and now the P2 also keep you from get wristy in your stroke, but the oversized shape made it impossible to take my normal grip, which then made the club feel unstable to me, though it would probably work for others. That feel combined with the size and weight of the high MOI head just didn't result in more made putts for me. I pulled out my Ping Zing 5 and was making more putts and the small grip felt more natural. I'm sure this combination will work well for someone, I'm just not for me. This one will be in the Classifieds soon as I'm going back to my classic Ping and blade putters. KCLeo12
I'm sure the Aware Tour would be much better feeling on your Zing 5. The high MOI thing isn't for everyone. catchmeoutside
I decided to adjust my grip with the P2, instead of having my left index finger running down the side of the grip I tried the same overlap grip that I use on all my other clubs and it felt much better. I drained 2 pressure birdy putts on the front 9 and sank 2 other pressure par putts on the back. cksurfdude and KCLeo12 2 Quote Taylormade M1 Titleist 816 H1 Titleist 916 AP1 4-GW 52,56,60 Vokey Wedges 64 Mack Daddy PM Grind Wedge Ping Ketsch mid putter Titleist deluxe cart bag TecTecTec range finder CaddyTek EZ-Fold 3 Wheel Golf Push Cart Country Club Elite® Hitting Strip 10"x30" Rukket Haack Golf Net By SEC Coach Chris Haack 10 X 7ft
deejaid
Yeah, maybe jumping in with both feet wasn't the best way to go. I had no real complaints with my Ping Zing 5 or Ping J Blade. Just thought I'd give all this cutting edge stuff a try. I've actually amassed a small collection (5) of vintage Ping putters and putt pretty well with all of them or my 1950's and 60's blade putters. Doesn't really make a difference in my scores. deejaid
No I went with the Tour. Like you said the regular is 182 grams which is crazy. I think I'm just old school. I grew up in the 80's playing mismatched blades and persimmons from the 50's and 60's that my grandfather had in his barn. I still play pretty narrow soled forged irons. Now, I'm no Luddite. I have a 460 cc driver with graphite shaft, and even a hybrid in my bag, but I've never seen much need for putter tech. It's putting. Children do it at mini golf courses everyday. I think many times we get caught up in tech instead of just using the simplest tool to roll the ball in the hole. I did want to try the latest and greatest just to see if I was missing something. Well, I tried it and it's just not for me.
