Best Blades Out Right Now?!

Broby

Recommended Posts

I've been playing golf for about 5 years now. Most of, if not all my free time is spent golfing or practicing in some way. My game has gotten to the point where I'm looking into new irons specially blades. I just wanted to hear some opinions on the blades out right now.

My game is nowhere near the blade stage - but I have tried the Srixon 965's and the Wilson FG Tour 100's - both are pretty awesome, with a slight edge to the Wilson's.

There are a lot of older blades out there, you can pick up at a good price.

Best is a difficult proposition given that one size does not fit all in golf.

Blades as a general category fit very few. Are you one of them? What does your teacher or college coach think?

I like the Gillette Sensor Xl, gives you a close shave and doesn't cut up your face 😂🤣😂 for clubs, I like jlukes suggestion. I haven't had the chance to hit them personally, but they are on my short list. The ping I blades too.

I love the thought of blades, but not the reality. If I was a sadist I would probably give the Srixon 965's a go.

Cobra King MB's. Can't wait for the new version to come out. Hopefully in that PÅ«r look.

Forgot out the King's -- haven't gamed them but have tried them at various golf shows. Mmmmmmm....

Then there's the MacGregor 1025 MC combo set - I kinda like those.

Hit the Mizuno MP18, and MP18SC, Mp18Mmc, and Mp18 Flihi, TM 730, Callaway Apex Mb and CB, Cobra MB/Cb, Wilson V6, 965, 745s today side by side all with the same shaft. In order of feel.

1. Wilson V6 (oh my, I see why these won)

2. MP-18 SC

3. Apex Mb / Tie with the 730's

4. Mp-18MB

5. Cobra MB/cB

6. MP-18 MmC

7. 965/745

Callaway's were #1 for a bit. Still the easiest MB's out of the bunch to hit the center. And Buttery soft. The 730's were easier for me than the 750's.

Oh and that Cobra F8+... is pretty friggin amazing

Since you are still fairly new and more than likely need some form of forgiveness I don't think you can beat the Maltby MMB-17. It's like a GI blade. Has a slight progressive offset, fairly long C dimension, and upon close up look are built almost like a cavity back.

It gives you that sleek look that everybody loves but few can play. ma0226.jpg

Well, their name has “blade” in it, and I can't believe they haven't been mentioned, but the Ping iBlades are the best blades I've ever hit from a “forgiveness” standpoint. I could play these all day!
