Slap
If you are considering a utility iron make sure you give the Srixon's a try! Congratulations! That's good news. And since no one commented on the Ping crossover I can say that it's worth a look too. I have the G 4 crossover and love it. It's at 21* and they also have a 3 and 5 I believe. It already has a graphite shaft as well. I can get 205 total off the tee with one but more importantly it goes straight and it's easy to control. I've hit a low punch out with it just fine. And it flies off the tee. McaseyM
If you're still looking, check out the Cobra F7 hybrid, the rails are amazing. If you get the 3/4 or 4/5, plenty of loft options to play with. PlaidJacket
I replaced my 4i with another 4i. I pulled my Wishon 771 4i a couple of years back and in it's place I bagged and older TM Burner 2.0 4i. Although the Wishon 4i was fit to me I never really played it all that well. It's not very forgiving. Small head-thin sole, etc. The Burners are more of a Game Improving type of irons. Larger heads, wider soles, more offset, etc. It was a good move on my part. As for Hybrids... I've never played them very well either and I have 4 of them laying around. Including a custom fit one. DPattGolf
I really like the idea of blending in powerful yet forgiving irons (P790, PXG, Forged Tec Black, Rogue, ect...) at the top of a set to close the gap with a hybrid without sacrificing a wedge * Staff Professional* Driver: Stealth Plus+ (7.25*) - Fujikura Ventus Black 6X Tipped 1" 3 Wood: Stealth Plus+ (14.25*) - Fujikura Ventus Blue 7x Tipped 1" Driving Iron: P790 UDI 2 iron - HZRDUS Smoke Black RDX 100 6.5 4 Iron: P790 - KBS C-Taper 130 X Irons (5-7) P7MC - KBS C-Taper 130 X Irons (8-P) P7MB - KBS C-Taper 130 X Wedges: MG3 Black 50.09 / 55.11 - KBS TOUR FLT 130 X 60* Wedge: High Toe Raw - KBS Tour 130 X Putter: Custom Black ER2 or Custom Black Del Monte Bag: FlexTech Stand Bag Glove: Tour Preferred Glove Ball: TP5X #11 RangeFinder: R1 Smart Rangefinder Instagram: @dpattgolf

puttingpirate
I went from carrying 2i up to now having 15, 17, 19 degree hybrids and then 23 degree 5 iron. I deliver stupidly low dynamic loft so most of the time I'd hit 7 iron with 10 degrees of DL, so low irons didnt work at all. Love the new setup now. Jus1412
I grabbed a Callaway Apex 4 Hybrid and reshafted it with a KBS steel hybrid shaft, shortened a half inch. It's been so good!! Perfect long iron replacement. So good, that I dropped the 5 iron for an Apex 5H! Sent from my SM-G950W using Tapatalk
Derek666
I havent tried it yet but the cobra adjustable driving iron looks interesting since you can play with the loft to get the perfect gapping. mdumble21
Personally, I love my 4i - it's one of the most reliable clubs in my bag currently (along with 3 wood, gap wedge and putter). My dad, on the other hand, was struggling to hit his long irons (3-5) for a while (he has a set of Adams CMBs). A year ago, he got my old Callaway X2 Hot 3 hybrid (I replaced it with an Apex hybrid, but went back to a 3 iron when I got the i200s) and he loved it so much that he bought an X2 Hot 4 hybrid (in a different shaft flex). Since then, the 2 hybrids have been his best friends out on the course, as he's able to hit the 3 hybrid almost as far as he hits 3 wood! Therefore, replacing a long iron in your bag depends on what you think will be the best fit - be it a 4 iron, utility iron, hybrid or a fairway wood (a part of me still wants a 5 wood in the bag, but that's a story for later!). I would be tempted to get the P790 3 iron but the King Utility is just so good there is no reason to change. Especially off the tee where I use it quite a bit but also reached two par 5's in two today with the Utility. One from the fairway and the other from a waste area. I rarely adjust the loft but in very windy conditions I have dialed it down from it's 18.5* normal setting. I have owned and played Wilson FG Tour Utility, Srixon U45, TM UDi, Exotics CB Pro, Mizuno Fli Hi and for me, the King Utility is the best of the bunch. Driver: Qi10 10.5* ... dhartmann34
I've put the g400 3 crossover in my bag to replace my hybrid recently. I'll tell you that for my swing it's much easier to hit and have more consistent strikes. I have a more aggressive angle of attack whereas I find hybrids are better for someone that can sweep the ball off of the ground... And that is not me. Great feel and gets the ball up in the air easily. Does add a little spin, but that's fine by me. I just need it to fly the same distance every time and be in play.
