I think a gym member will do me well because it will get me away from the strongman equipment and I won't be tempted to go back to it, so I don't bulk up again.

We belong to the YMCA, great deal for our family. I run the track every day after work for 4 miles. Just a thought if it'd be cheaper than a gym membership

Being a paramedic most of the local gyms give us discounts so 20 bucks isn't bad

I'm going to have to give mine some serious thought.  Don't want to make it too many and want to make sure they are SMART goals. Specific Measurable Attainable Realistic and Tracable.

Sorry for the multiple posts, for some reason I couldn't get  multi-quote to work today.

Multi-Quote has never worked for me.  Must be beyond my social media ability.

Ok Spies get ready to make a life change commitment as of 12:01 a.m.!   Don't forget to weigh in the morning and post it in the weight loss thread. Post you goal (how many pounds to lose) and let's get this party started.

https://forum.mygolfspy.com/topic/21905-weight-loss-thread/

Good luck and stay the course because we as a community can do this!!!

1) Strength training 3 to 4 times a week.  Mix in light cardio a couple bonus days.

2) Do speed work with Super Speed system during the winter months then go to maintenance mode in the spring.

3) Work on the two death moves in my golf swing.  Steeping the shaft in transition and my hips spinning out.  These are most likely related.

How's everyone doing with the Fitness Goals?

On target for me! Some days like today more painful then others. My goal is to look the opposite of John Daly - so no moobs, and getting the waist down to a reasonable size.

I'm a full blown college football fan.  I might watch the final four in B ball however it's not the pull that I have for football.   Unless a certain team makes it.  ;)

I was far better at basket ball than I ever was at probably any sport, including golf, and horseshoes. But I can't stand playing or watching it anymore.

I actually won two  MVP trophies back in my day however I rarely watch basketball these days.

Only trophies I won were horseshoes. Maybe I can replace that horseshoe guy with a golf guy like Happy.

OG for MVP... I like it!

Quick update, had lunch with Carolina Golfer 2 yesterday so I got the other half of #7 done. Confirmed for MB trip with CG2 so goal #5 has been reached. Really need to work on #1 though...

MDGolfHacker

1. Lose 50lbs. I went the opposite this past year and gained 10lbs, (writing this as I sit at a Chinese all you can eat sushi/Mongolian grill/Chinese buffet) :facepalming: lol..

2. Get fully fitted from putter to driver at a brand agnostic shop. As a lefty, it's hard to get PROPERLY fit even during demo days.

3. Buy said equipment that I will get fit for. Don't be lured by Shiney new blades company x put out.

4. Drop the HC between 10-12. Since I know I won't play too much more than last year, that means more quality golf and less wild rounds.

5. Make the proposed golfing outing in myrtle beach that Carolina Golfer 2 is putting together.

6. Get my swing working again. Too many inconsistencies this past year.

7. Get together with my long time golfing buds Wahoo and Carolina Golfer 2 for dinner outside of golf. We don't get together enough my friends...

That's how far my arm goes in a swing that's it. I need to actually go to yoga to see if that helps. 20171227_133105.jpg 20171227_133037.jpg

I'm the same like you Tim.My backswing stops with hands just barely at my right shoulder.Sadly there isn't much some of us can do to improve on that.

Keep it in the short stuff

I missed this somehow so I am late to the party.

1) lose 15lbs to get to goal of 205lbs

2) Improve flexibility

3) Reduce the amount of sugar I consume.

So I am off to a bad start though, my wife had surgery last week so I took the week off to take care of her and the boys so I only made it to the gym once.

Sorry to hear about your wife's surgery - hope she has a quick recovery.

I'm working hard at reducing sugar as well - geez it's tough. It's like an addition for me. Good thing we don't have kids in the house with snacks around because I can't pass the kitchen without picking something up. So best situation is not bringing it into the house.

My other 'reduction' is salt. I just started checking the labels and can't believe how much salt there is in products - and that's without adding more at the table.

I notice if I don't completely stretch out before a round of practice I'm useless.Ive actually cold whiffed a few by not being stretched corectly. For Some odd reason , I do my best when I work my back and shoulders in the gym before a round of golf. Not lifting heavy , but really holding and going slow for form. All the aches and morning pains leave immediately when I do this

I'm thinking if we had one of those chest expander exercise things in our car and stretched a few times with it prior round, our bodies would thank us.
