Weight Loss Thread

MattF

Recommended Posts

Further to OG and GS Barba's posts regarding weight loss and helping each other out, I'm starting this thread in the hopes that those of us that need or could stand to lose a bit of weight will chime in.

I really want to get down to 180lbs. I've been struggling with my weight for years and my lowest (about 6 months ago) was 199.2lbs.

I've crept back up to 207lbs and am not really happy about it....but that's the holiday season.

So, I'm thinking that those of you who want to participate can just post here, maybe what you're doing, eating etc or just a weekly/fortnightly weigh in.

So that's it in a nutshell, chime in or I'll talk to myself.

Alrighty! These quests always work better when there's a group and there's a little friendly competition involved. I know I don't want to be the guy who actually gains weight during this challenge...

I like it - first official weigh-in January 1, but let's agree not to post shirtless pictures. None of us wants to see that.... :o :o

I may be 306 but my shoulders are the size of some people's heads so you sure you don't want shirtless pictures lol.

I have used a low carb diet and had success. It works for me. Plus I feel full (instead of like I'm starving myself).

Have been able to drop 20+ lbs. on a few different occasions.

I never had to worry with this stuff until my metabolism waned during late 40's.

Personally haven't tried it, but putting either (or both) apple cider vinegar and lemon juice in your water is supposed to be a good way to help you lose weight. Controls insulin levels (fat storage hormone and blood sugar drop), helps with digestion, and boosts metabolism

I drink a small glass of apple cider vinegar every morning.  I mixed mine with honey and water. It gives me a good shot of energy and has really helped my digestive system.

The only eating tip I have to offer is "chew more, swallow less".

If I were able to practice that regularly, I'd lose those last 10 pounds!

Makes sense about the swallow less.    ;)   This is going to be a fun kick off for 2018 and hopefully we will have a bunch of healthy spies playing better golf.  At the least having more fun doing it.

I'm in too. At around 210 and would like to start by getting to 195.

I haven't seen anyone mention getting to a gym or some form of exercise. Dieting is only one portion of weight loss. Fortunately for my lazy ass, there's a gym down the street.

I'll also second another comment. Drop or significantly reduce the booze and non-diet pop.

Looking forward to this! How about a sponsor for biggest loser prize? Golf in Hawaii?

Balanced diet and regular exercise goes a long, long way. Hit the gym, but just like your diet, figure out what works best for you personally and change up your routine from time to time. Strength training goes a long way in weight loss as well. Don't think that spending 40 minutes on a treadmill is going to melt away the lbs. It doesn't have to be bench presses and squats all day, but doing some body weight exercises and kettle bells/free weights can go a long way. There's so much free info on social media to get you started. YouTube and Instagram are a gold mine if you search for the PFS guys in Scottsdale or TPI trainers or guys like Kolby Wayne, Joey D etc. Heck, if you want to look like a freaking hoss on the course, search for the long drive guys' workouts. It's comical at times what they do to build core strength and club head speed.
