Monday weigh in, 219 no change from last week. Not a happy camper. As SWMBO said I've been doing more weights especially core and not enough cardio. OK more cardio coming up!

I've lost five pounds so far and it's not no where near what I'm looking for....  The thing is I'm losing weight.  I have a long way to go however it's not about a number.  It's about a lifestyle change.  I don't want to hear about folks not reaching their goals. I want to hear about you all staying with what you came here for.  I don't accept quitters.  I don't want you to start something you can't finish.  We can do this so get off that I can't  hang with this because the weight ain't falling off quick enough.  Bull shat!  You got this boys!!!  I don't ever want to hear you can't reach ya goals.....  Dig deep and get er done!!   I believe in ya......  Make ole gray proud of ya1

Ok so for all you weak limp wristed arse holes go ahead and give up.....  For you true men who are willing to stick with and stay with it, ball up and get er done!!!

Well today I felt a slight muscle strain in my lat so I stopped working out. No pull just a slight strain with the pain being a little bit better after some stretches. Tomorrow I will be doing cardio only. I'm down 6 lbs so I'm happy to be just over 300 and closing in on being under 300. In the fire academy I will be doing PT days they say it's military esc so I'm hoping to drop a bit of weight in the academy.

I've been in this gym thing now since 1/5. Been doing mostly weight stuff and some cardio. Played 18 this morning and driver was noticeably longer (10-15 yards) than past 6 months. We also got 1.5” rain last night so fairways weren't helping as they were slow and wet. So is it a coincidence, I don't think so.

Going to post in “how did you play” in a bit.

I gained a couple pounds this week. Wasn't a terribly surprising result based on the way I ate over the last week and a half (house was in disarray due to floors being refinished). Staying up on the exercises, though, and I feel stronger and my back feels better.

I'm down to 300 mainly because I was sick for a few days and was unable to eat much and then vomiting was fun. What I did learn from this is I can cut my portions down even more than I already have.

I'm down about 15 lbs so far this year. Don't have a lot of time for working out but just little things like packing my lunch with healthy choices for work every day and not eating out as well as portion control at home and limited snacking has really made a difference. Closing in on 290lbs!

As has been mentioned, I wouldn't get too discouraged if you're not losing weight while you're working out with weights. I'd take 200 lbs in lean muscle over 200 lbs with fat.

Anyways, Golf Digest just posted this today. $10 for golf specific total body workouts. Might be a worthwhile investment if you're not sure what to do. Haven't purchased it, but looks pretty straight forward. Nice to have a pre-done workout rather than having to search and piece-meal something together.

That's an awesome result - congrats! Hope you're working out as well as muscle goes before fat.

This would be a good thread - I use a DVD program but if is one was better it'd be worth the $10. Any one using it?

Is anyone familiar with the TRX strap system? The gym I go to can be very busy sometimes. It is 95% seniors who can at times “camp out” on all the favorite equipment. I kinda stumbled into the TRX thing and have been using them because most seniors are afraid of them and don't know how to use it. Pretty cool, developed by. ex Navy Seal. Anyone else's gym have them?

Get someone to show you the ropes (sorry, couldn't help myself) and get the basics. A Personal Trainer showed me 4 exercises to get started on and I'm learning new ones as I go along. There's some exercises that would probably kill my old arse so I stay away from them. This way I can get away from the popular machines that the old farts are camping out in.

I was thinking of taking a day off from workouts but rereading the threads you guys inspired me to head downstairs to the gym. I've been at it since Jan 1st, while I haven't lost a lot of weight (was only planning on losing about 8 lbs) I'm impressed in my strength - ability to add more reps and weight along with flexibility. Even if I don't lose the weight this will have a positive impact on my game.

So, who else is retaining water this week besides me? I have no idea how that is happening as I drink 8 to 12 glasses of water a day and move around a bit.

I'll keep an eye on it and try and find out what's going on in the following weeks.

Definitely! I'm sure you feel better and like you said your strength is gaining. I've only lost 4-5 lbs in January but I feel a hell of a lot better my swing feels like it's coming back and one notch less on my belt!! Life is good for old farts
