I DID IT, my first 3 miles/30 minutes straight run. I had to extend my course which now includes 3 hills...🤢.

I'll be doing this 3 days a week from now on.

Nice work! Keep it up! Running is addicting when you get passed the “F This” part.

100% this! I'm a big man - 6'4" 240lbs, so clearly a runners bod - anyway, I hated running and stuck to other gym exercises, mainly a lot of strength training. Then one day I went out and ran 2mi in 14:57 and thought "dang, this is pretty fun when you can put up respectable times!" I'm down to 2mi in 14:47 now and pretty proud of my new running achievements. My ultimate goal is 10k in sub-50min next April.

Podcast help a lot, too. Keeps my mind off the actual running part. haha

In my :ping-small: Hoofer:

Fortunately the C25K app lets me play MP3s straight from my phone, so the deer and rabbits hear me coming from the singing along!

While losing weight isn’t my current objective I have slowly been reading fat loss forever by dr Layne norton and Peter Baker. It’s a great resource for anyone looking to take the journey, on the journey and looking for info or for those looking for the way to keep it off.

Dr. Norton is the love him or hate him type but his educational background as well as his fitness life has him as great resource imo

I'm maintaining my weight but have started to lift heavier I noticed I've been having some trouble at work carrying some heavier folks out of the houses so I put the goal of weight loss to the side to try and gain some strength back and hopefully lose some weight at the same time.

I’ve kept that weight off for nearly a year now. Like several here I’m committing to some more strength training.

Penny is not getting any lighter. The longer i can lift her the longer we have to help her transition to adulthood.

Dr Norton's books are a fantastic read and he really knows his stuff. If you're easily offended, don't follow him on Twitter. He likes to engage the thousands of nutrition bulls***ters out there and can get pretty crass. He posts some informative stuff on Instagram but can get crass in a hurry. It's amazing how many chiropractors, MDs and yes, even optometrists are out there touting nutrition 'expertise'. It's really causing a lot of confusion for the general public. Dr. Norton takes it upon himself to police these folks and it's pretty comical when he engages them.

He is in your face. I like him because he takes the time to read studies and other professionals opinions on studies to be in the know. Other good resources are the guys at MASS...Erik helms, Greg knuckles (not sure on spelling).

I'd have a hard time suggesting a better resource than Fat Loss Forever. And Dr. Norton is definitley not for everyone, but fortunately FLF doesn't get too crazy. As @RickyBobby_PR knows, I had previously dabbled in the yo yo dieting cycle until I saw the proverbial light around December 2016. It's a shame, and not surprising at all, that there are so many people slanging various forms of snake oil. I believe the majority of people simply don't want to put in the work and the allure of a quick fix is far more attractive than staying consistent to a program that actually works LONG TERM. But that's the world we live in now. The right way to do things is often seen as 'boring' or 'tedious' so the quick fix route (in it's many forms) will always be around.

I’m just trying to maintain 200 and strengthen my shoulder. Both are harder than I thought it would be.
SWMBO and I doing gym time 4-5 times a week and as Super Seniors we know it’s necessary.

I guess age mostly, will be 73 in less than 2 months. Physically things wearing out, knees, hips both going to need work. Both shoulders have been worked on.
According to SWMBO I haven’t learned that I can’t push things the way I used to.
SWMBO has/is beginning to have challenges also including anxiety issues. She realizes it and is working on it.

Gotcha. Lots of body weight exercises will help or even some light resistance bands.

For weight management in simple terms it’s about every consumer vs energy spent or aka calories in vs calories out.

theres some good free macro calculators out there to help determine how much protein, fat and carbs needs to maintain, lose or gain weight.
