Golfspy_CG2
As the poll says, players are listed in their current position as of Dec 24, 2017. Who do you have a why. I've got Jordan Spieth, I think he just has more grit and determination than anyone else, I think he's going to use the fact DJ and Justin are challenging him as motivation for a strong 2018. tommc23
I find it funny how Jason Day and Rory were up there in the ranking and number one but once they lost the number one they started to fall. Rory was working his way back up the rankings but got hurt again. Then you have Jordan who after getting knocked out of number one didn't fall past 5 or 6. Even on a low year for Jordan he seems to win at least twice, which is better than most. He seems to be more consistent than the others. I said somewhere along the line in some thread, that I believe Jordan will have the better career of any of the current crop of young guys. He just seems to be mentally stronger than all of them and never gives up or never considers himself out of it, I mean not only the British Open last year was an example, but even after his Masters meltdown on 12 a couple years ago, he came back with a couple birdies to try and fight back. TheWahoo
I tend to think that DJ will return to form and will be No. 1 at the end of the year. After his 2017 year, Justin Thomas may put some extra pressure on himself to repeat such a year. I was watching TGC this morning, it showed a picture of Spieth and his long time girl friend. She was sporting a rather large rock on her finger. If that leads to a correct assumption, then that may impact his status, in the short term. There are only two things that I know with absolute certainty regarding No. 1 at the end of the year. One, someone will be No. 1. Two, it won't be me. Yeah, the engagement made news about a month or so ago I think. The fact they have dated since college (maybe even HS) and she's been part of the family for years, his sister loves her as well as his parents, hopefully will avoid the adjustment period that some have to go through with marriage and continuing the rigors or tour life. Rickp
Rickie... He's always around the top most every tournament. GolfSpy MPR
I picked Jordan, for boring reasons: I suspect he's got the least volatility of any of the top guys. I can easily see any of the big guns on this list having a killer year and ending up number 1. I can also see any number of them going down with injuries or inconsistent play. Meanwhile, I would anticipate Jordan just continuing to do his thing. So for me, he's kind of a default, safe pick. TWar
Good poll. I was going to go with Spieth as I am an apologist but I think Rory makes a comeback this year. chemclub
Wow, a lot of consensus on this thread. I pick Rors as well. Provided his health issues are behind him, he has won in the past and has the hunger back. I pick Jordan as the steady eddie - always in the hunt and threatening to win. I also want Tiger to win at least one tourney. I will admit I thought he was done but his performance at the Hero shows he might have something.
