Golfspy_CG2
I've never heard of this maker or putter. But it looks very home made and probably from the 60's or so. It does look like Pat may have been ahead of his time. Has some two ball technology some high MOI as well. But the way shaft goes into the head is very odd. Anyone have any info on it. chemclub
I have actually seen that putter in the wild before. I agree the shaft insertion is very unconventional. On another note, MGgolf sells a lot of nice stuff at a fraction of the price. They are taking the bargain golf approach but I think they also do a really good job. https://mggolf.com There gloves are excellent. Their rangefinders are a bargain as well and have been reviewed by a few members on here https://forum.mygolfspy.com/topic/14115-m400-laser-rangefinder-with-pinseeker-technology-by-mg-golf/?hl=mggolf MG has a new model now though. Golfspy_CG2
I spent about 20 minutes putting with it side by side with my X7M today. It made my mallet putter look small. But wasn't near as stable during the stroke either. So not a gamer and certainly not a wall hanger. Also has anyone tried their 'senior' ball? If so what is your feedback on it? Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy I like the C4. It's right up there with the Snell MTB and PV1 IMO. It's certainly worth the money. I got my wife a dozen of the "senior" balls in yellow because she likes to play yellow balls all year long. They work for her with her slow swing speed; I'm guessing about 70-75 mph. She seemed to pick up a few yards. Although my swing speed isn't a whole lot faster, that ball wasn't for me. tehuti
I bought a putter from MG last year. And I had putters from them back in the 90s as well. Nothing like that one however. If Plaid or Foz see this they can provide better info. I don't know anything about Pat Simmons but I don't believe he is associated with MG any longer. Laser Range Finder I've also purchased one LRF from MG. The MG400 model. Initially I raved about them but my first one lasted about a year and the display crapped-out. MG replaced it with a new one. No questions asked. The second one only lasted a few months when the eye piece broke. Again, MG replaced it - no question asked. So today I'm on my third M400 and it's been working fine for now. I don't expect it last however. This particular model that MG sold (MG400) is available all over the internet but with a slightly different name. They were ok LRF's but not great from a qualily and sensitivity standpoint. I don't fault MG as they have discontinued this model. As far as LRF's are concerned I've decided that an el cheapo model has it's limitations. My next LRF will probably be a Bushnell. Yes, they are much more expensive and probably also made in China. However, I think their quality control and parts/technology are far superior. The MG400 just isn't that sensitive. Gloves I've been buying the MG gloves since the early 90's I'd guess. Personally I prefer the DynaGrip Elite - $6.99 over the DynaGrip - $5.99. The Elite model is a much thinner glove with better feel. It's more on par with the likes of a FJ Pure Touch Limited $30 or a Titleist Players $25. Both MG gloves are all cabretta leather. The DynaGrip used to also have the ball marker button on the cuff but they quit doing that a couple of years ago. I didn't use it but it gave the glove an "old school" look. Gloves are sort of a personal thing with most golfers including me. They are also a disposable item like balls. I also want to mention that I play most of my golf in a dry climate and get a lot of mileage from a glove has they don't get sweated out very often. I have a good friend that insists he can only get a good fit with a $30 FJ Pure Touch and that's what he buys. For me I've found the MG gloves work perfectly in fit and durability so I continue buying them. In all my years of using them I can only think of one or two instances where a glove ripped or wore prematurely for one reason or another. MG would certainly have issued me a free replacement but for the price I pay I never bothered and just consider it a rub-of-the-green. I'm currently playing with a DynaGrip (thicker) model and have probably 10-15 rounds with it. I just checked my inventory and have 2-DynaGrip gloves and no Elite's so I'll probably order more to get me through the 2018 season. Balls I have been playing the C4 Tour ball off and on for many years. It's a "tour" quality 3-pc 332 dimple urethane cover ball. And at $19.99 dz. it's hard to beat. I have never once thought there was anything wrong with a C4 such as balance, distance, spin, etc. where I thought I'd never play "one of those" again. I have no idea where they are made and don't really care. Probably some place over in Korea or China perhaps. Maybe where the Ksig's or Snell's are made? Using a C4 I have played many of my very best rounds and some of my worst. But it had nothing to do with the ball. I like to switch around and play different balls. Sometimes I go for a while playing the C4 then switch to PV. Later I might use a ChromeSoft or a Snell or Ksig. Each of these are top quality balls IMO. Again, golf balls are disposable items in our game. Therefore I try and keep my costs low for these items without sacrificing top quality, performance and playability. Again... I checked my inventory and I'm out of C4's. I'll add those to my glove order. Off and on through the years I've also tried some of their shirts and had good luck with those also. A friend of mine also bought their Lightweight Cart Bag and it's a good deal too. Looks nice with plenty of storage. $79.95. It closely resembles a Titleist cart bag I won in a tournament several years ago. $250 retail value. https://www.mggolf.com/ fozcycle, Golfspy_CG2, Rickp and 1 other 4 Quote My Sun Mountain bag currently includes: 771CSI 5i - PW and PFC Micro Tour-c 52°, 56°, 60 wedges EXS 10.5*, 929-HS FW4 16.5* Willimette w/GolfPride Contour
Dancing Golfer
I play "grandpa" thilight golf almost everyday at Shoreline Golf Links in Mountain View, CA averaging 81 with a range of 74 to 90. The greens are: bumpy, have a volcanos, untrue , broccli like, potato chips. "Beware of Flying Putters!" could be the unofficial warning sign here. My single digit friend has this putter and beat me. This forced me to re-test my "best" putters and work on my set up. Result: MG 415 with a Golf Pride SNSR grip worked best. Yesterday, I played my other friends and I won! This morning, I practiced putting and found that I could put some topspin on the ball with this putter. Made 9, three foot putts in-a-row before quitting. This putter is now in my golf bag.....
