Rickp
15~20mph wind, temps started @ hi 40s. 60 when we finished. Whites are 6863 yrds. Started ok. Shot 43 on frt. Back nine my back started tighten up. Had a triple and a quad on back to back par 4s. 46 for a 89. 15-20 mph winds, that's tough going for anyone. You toughed it out I would seriously quit after 9. Charli
I played Sunday here in jersey. A little bit soggy and first 6 holes werent pretty at all. Went 48f 38b... my Excuse haven't swung a club in almost a month and they didn't have a driving range or even a place to warm up. So I spent the first 6 holes trying to figure it all out. TR1PTIK
Posted this in another thread already, but since it's also applicable here... A couple weekends have passed, but I played my first round of 2018 on Jan. 28th and shot an 83. Gotta say, I'm pretty pleased. I didn't get to play nearly as much in 2017 as I wanted to and when I did play my back was usually out of sorts from mowing upwards of eight yards/week. I met up with a couple of buddies from work at Schifferdecker Golf Course in Joplin, MO. It's a very simple course with small - medium sized raised greens that generally slope from back to front. The fairways are wide, there aren't a lot of trees, and penalties only come into play on a few holes. We played from the back tees which only go out to 6,123 yards. The front nine wasn't my finest effort, but all else considered was okay. I shot +10, having only hit 2 fairways and 0 greens. I doubled the 5th & 7th holes due to some short game hiccups, but other than that I wasn't complaining for Missouri golf in January. The back nine was much improved over the front having only shot +2 with just 1 fairway, 3 greens, and one double (again, due to my short game). It was obvious I had some rust, but altogether not bad. I missed the fairway a lot, but typically not by much and if it was by a considerable margin then it was a Tiger Woodsworthy miss that still gave me a line in. I had trouble gauging my distances and came up just short on most of my approaches. The real positives of the round were zero penalty strokes, zero 3-putts, and progressively better ball striking throughout the round. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy You're luckier than me. It's looking like rain all week here. It hasn't been the cold keeping me off the course, it's been the rain. I've made it out to the range a handful of times with temps in the 30s and below but we just can't get enough dry days in a row for the course to be manageable. STUDque
Well I got out. We played 9 then caught 16/17/18 for a nice little 12 hole loop. I swear the wind was in our face the entire time besides 18. I wouldn't exactly count it as my first round of the year because it turned into a practice round by the fourth hole. By hole 7, I finally started hitting it well lol. That baby draw from the range? No sir. Normal fade was here. I hit some good iron shots and some excellent hybrids but didn't chip or putt particularly well. I'd like to blame it on the fertilizer but the truth is, I was chipping like Randy Savage nuking touchy chips. Off the tee I was pretty good. Decent distance and hit a few fairways. All in all, definitely a promising look at 2018. Miles ahead of where I was this time last year. Didn't keep score just trying to work out the winter kinks. And they were definitely there to work out. It's amazing how much you “lose†when you don't play regularly.
