The clearance rack poser bag

But I have to admit: I'm guilty. Maybe it's the low-grade OCD. Maybe it's just an excuse to buy more clubs.

 

OK, it's definitely an excuse to buy more clubs.

 

But I'm by no means a top level poser. No sir: that takes the kind of cash I'm neither able nor willing to burn.

 

I'm a clearance rack poser bag builder.

 

At this point, I have two such bags. First, the Adams:

 

 

 

XTD 9°, stiff stock Red Tie

Super LS 15°, stiff stock Kuro Kage

red 20°, stiff stock (whatever it is)

dHy 24°, Grafalloy ProLaunch Red (built from components from Diamond Tour)

XTD Tour irons, 4-GW

XTD Forged SW-LW

A7 60 putter

 

All of these were purchased in the last couple of years, cobbled together from clearance sales (the irons), components (hybrid, wedges), eBay (fairway), and Craigslist (putter, $20).

 

And just recently completed, the Callaway bag (which is also my wannabe player bag:

I could never do the all one brand in the bag thing though. I don't want to look like an advertisement.

I am not a one brand kind of player. Seems too forced if I have to have every club from a single manufacturer. I could be convinced to be a single brand player for the right sponsorship deal!

Haha I used to have to have all of my gear match.  Whether it was TMag, Callaway, Srixon, etc.  However, over the last two years I have gravitated to playing what makes me happy + what gives me the best performance.  I really can't see myself swaying from the brands in my current bag unless a fitting shows me something else works for me

Yeah, though I have to admit a tiny bit of guilt. I ended up being the only bidder on the set, which is how I got it at that price. As soon as the auction ended, though, the seller sent me a message saying that it would be a couple of days before he'd be able to ship the irons, as he was in the hospital with his wife for the birth of their first child.

I am the same way but not for the same reason you stated. I have always played what I could hit and was not brand loyal. Even when I was an assistant at a course. Back then technically we were Ping staffers and I had a Ping Staff bag but only 2 Ping clubs in the bag which were a Anser putter and Karsten I 1 iron. Even when we had the golf shop and I played the minis I had a Titleist deal but not for clubs. I just did a ball and bag deal in fact had 1 Titleist club in the bag and that was a 252 Vokey wedge the irons you know were Macgregor and the woods were a Tsunami driver and an old Callaway Steel Head 3 wood and of course a Ping putter. Never took a deal where I had to play a certain club except one time and I was broke then

OHH I would really kill you now LOL --- I am back using my Titleist Mini Staff and as of yesterday there was not a Titleist club in it. I benched my Cameron Santa Fe a couple of weeks ago for a 1950s Tommy Armour blade style putter. 8802 style BEFORE there ever was a 8802. My computer to the phone link is messing up but here is a typical picture of my set up but I think the Cameron was in there this was from a couple of years ago

I don't really care if someone has matched brand clubs or not, in golf there really is no such thing as a poser as your score on the card is what it is. Your swing is what it is. Regardless of what is in the bag everyone that plays any golf has a good idea what you are after they see you play a hole.

 

Personally I have not had a fully matched set of clubs since my first set in 1983 when i was 13. I want to say they were Clevlands but not sure anymore. Cast irons and laminated woods. My putter was a Tiajuanna Brassie.

 

The woods were replaced fairly soon with generic metal woods, I think I got those for my second year of high school golf. I have no idea what the brand was.

 

My big want of the time though was a Titleist Bulseye putter which I eventually got for birthday or Christmas.

I felt that way until I went on vacation and had to get rental clubs. Never had I given titleist a thought( due to their reputation of being a better players company) but my rental set of all titleist clubs opened my eyes to a better golf game. After a few holes my shot making improved past my own clubs. I can now see myself gaming a full set of titleist clubs judge me if you will.

I don't know how I missed this thread. The subject title made me LOL!

 

There is a guy on my league that has a complete TM bag from driver to putter... plus balls. He even wears color matching TM hats. It's nice stuff, but I could never do it...lol.

 

My bag is Mizzy, Titleist and EVNRoll... with TM balls (Project (a)).

 

It's subject to change if I find a driver I like better than Titleist. So far, I haven't tried to find one because I don't want to spend the cash.
