arobledo1293
I'm a big fan of the No Laying Up podcast and website. A few weeks ago they talked about Wolf Hammer. This crazy game from Greenville CC. It seems amazingly fun. Had me thinking does anyone else have a favorite betting game or non-betting game they play that are unique to their group? Post below! GolfJunkie302
Wolf is my favorite. There is also Bingo Bango Bongo, best-ball match play, Nassau, Skins, etc. There is another fun one I have played, but I can't remember what it's called. JAGolfore
We play a game we call “beansâ€. Takes 4 guys to play. Toss the balls and determine partners. We play with full handicap. Each bean is worth $.25 and usually set a limit of $100. (Most you can loose). We start out each stroke is worth 2 beans. You can press 2 times a side and the game cannot go higher than 16 beans per stroke. So how it is scored. All NET - Say you and your partner make 4's. And your opponents make a 5's. So your team total is 44 and theirs is 55. You have an 11 beans times 2 (beans start at a value of 2) so your up 22. It gets crazy when presses start or you start making natural birdies. ole gray
My senior group has a few formats that we like to partake in. The blitz is where you have a certain amount of points you have to pull. Points are 1 for bogey, 2 for par, 3 for birdie, and 4 for eagle. If you're points are set at 18 anything over that is plus and gives you a change to take home some cash. We also like to play a game called two tie all tie with no carry overs. You have to win the hole out right to win a dot/skin. You also win a dot for birdies and sandies. Dots = quarters and greenies are for fifty cents. Then we have a game called rabbit where you try and win a leg. If you win all four legs you win the rabbit and the game starts over. Problem being your playing partners will be trying to take those legs away. PlaidJacket
We keep it very simple. We never play with handicaps. It's always heads-up. We play lot's of skins, Nassau's, and occasionally wolf or 6's. I've mentioned here in the forum many times but... and you have to have an Android phone. Sorry iPhone guys. I use a great little betting/gambling app called, Strokes. I've been using it for 3 years. All you have to do is setup your course from a scorecard, enter players, select the bets you want and enter the scores correctly. You can press as much as you like and after the round you tap a button and all bets are calculated. The app allows for several bets at one time. Very flexible. Beats paper and pencil. Strokes is the name of the app. Plaidjacket approved!! gaussman1
We play a game called "sneakies". 2 man teams, 2 points for low score on the hole, total, birdie, and prox (closest to the hole in regulation). 1 point for greenie (on in reg), poley (any putt made longer than the flagstick), sandy (any up and down from bunker), and sneakie (up and down for par). You can add them together so saving par from the sand with a 10 ft putt is a sneakie, sandy, and poley- 3 points! The team in the lead always tees off 1st, if they hit bad shots the trail team can "bridge", which doubles the point value for that hole only. If they then hit poor shots the first team can "re-bridge", which doubles the double. So if you're playing for $1 a point, a bridge/re-bridge makes it $4 a point on that hole. With all the points flying around the $$ changes in a hurry. It's not unusual to have a 10 point hole if a team gets a regulation birdie out of 1 guy and and trashy up and down from the other. hckymeyer
We have 2 regular games, one for threesomes and one for foursomes. Threesome - we play 9 point. Each hole is worth 9 points and they are divided based on what everyone scores. all three the same is 3/3/3. par bogey bogey 5/2/2, par par bogey 4/4/1, birdie par bogey 7/2/1, par bogey DB 5/3/1. Total them all up and pay the difference between points. So low guy is paying both, middle guy is getting paid and paying, high guy gets paid twice. Usually 50 cents or a dollar a point Foursome - We call it Scotch. This is a team game so 2 vs 2. You can adjust for handicaps and give strokes but we are mostly close enough we just play straight up. There are 6 possible points each hole. One point for a neary, one point for low individual, one point for low team, one point for birdie. If you get all 4 points you get a bonus 5th point. Then we also added a rule that if both players on a team birdie or better you get a point. If you 3 putt the neary you don't get the point. Ties cancel each other out for scores. We start at level 3 (each point is worth 3 points) and the team behind can press on any tee box before shots have been hit. If there are no points scored on a hole it's an autopress. We reset back to level 3 at the turn. We play 50 cents a point and if you win more than $20 you owe one of the other guys a drink at the bar. fixyurdivot
We've recently added a variation to our regular Wolf game. Rather than the wolf (rotating first to tee) selecting a partner, we match the two furthest left and right of centerline on fairways and the flag on par 3's. Another game we've added is fewest putts - which I didn't think I'd like at first but now think it's helping me focus on putting more. Lastly, on one hole at Las Barancas, the drive that ends up closest to sea level wins (yup you heard it right ). The fairway has lots of slope and low collection areas; the lowest and often closest to the green requiring a higher a risky target line over a rockhill/point. John W Sutch
Play in an informal league 3 times a week. Depending on who shows we have between 20 and 40 players. Cost 16 dollars to get in. Regular handicaps. Blind draw for teams at the end of the round with payout to top three teams. Usually three man teams. Payouts for skins and closest to the pin on par threes. Not a lot of money to be made but format keeps things interesting. Individual handicaps vary from a 2 to a 28. Good banter and a lot of fun. Sean!
A couple of us played this game a few years ago...I'll call it Take Sean's Money. I was a 16 HC and playing against a 4 & 5. No strokes were given. I lost my butt. I have found out that the actual name of this game in 9 point. Every hole has 9 points possible. Winner of the hole gets 5 loser gets 1. If there is a tie for the winner the top 2 get 4 each and if the losers tie they get 2 each. If makes it fun. There is a poker chip game that was also fun. I like Wolf, but if you have 3 different people scoring it you can get 3 different out comes especially with an odd number of people.
