Betting is obviously NOT an essential part of golf, but it can be a lot of fun.  And personally, I want to win money every week, but I also hope everyone in my regular group breaks even at the end of the year.  Its a lot more fun if we're close to evenly matched in the long run.

Play in an informal league 3 times a week. Depending on who shows we have between 20 and 40 players. Cost 16 dollars to get in. Regular handicaps. Blind draw for teams at the end of the round with payout to top three teams. Usually three man teams. Payouts for skins and closest to the pin on par threes. Not a lot of money to be made but format keeps things interesting. Individual handicaps vary from a 2 to a 28. Good banter and a lot of fun.

A couple of us played this game a few years ago...I'll call it Take Sean's Money. I was a 16 HC and playing against a 4 & 5. No strokes were given. I lost my butt. I have found out that the actual name of this game in 9 point. Every hole has 9 points possible. Winner of the hole gets 5 loser gets 1. If there is a tie for the winner the top 2 get 4 each and if the losers tie they get 2 each. If makes it fun. 

There is a poker chip game that was also fun.

I like Wolf, but if you have 3 different people scoring it you can get 3 different out comes especially with an odd number of people.

I haven't played it yet, but a pro I follow on youtube has played a random club game a couple of times that I have seen. He uses https://kanewj.com/club/ to make it really simple. If you don't have the club that is selected, hit the button again. It makes you try all sorts of different shots.

Haven’t done it in a long time but getting to take a club out of your opponents back is fun. Also deciding if you take a club back or take one rom your opponent when you win a hole makes it interesting too

Wolf is our favorite. Pressuring someone to go lone wolf is the best.

We played Wolf hammer with the dots from the NoLayingUp guys video with my normal group of four this Saturday and it was a blast. It is a lot to keep track of and can get out of control quickly especially on the last two holes where the player with the least dots is the wolf and sets the dot amounts to try and get some money back. We printed out a copy of the dots cause it was our first time and had one person keep track of wolf and one person track all of the dots/junk/garbage whatever you want to call it. I would recommend it if you like gambling when you play. Constant action.

I'm looking to add the game "snake" to our group. One question for those familiar... What happens if 2 people three putt the same hole?  Who holds the snake?

The way we play snake is whoever 3 putts a whole owes money. If two people snake then their money cancels each other out but they each owe money to the other people in the group

But what if those are the last 3 putts for the round?

The way we do it the snake doesn’t carry over. Its per hole. But for most stuff where ties could happen then if one ties we all tie

I have always done it as the last player to three putt. This does get into order of play.

Oh ok. I'm guessing that may not work bc if someone misses a 4 footer by inches I can't imagine having them mark a 2" putt for the sake of order. I'll have to give it some more thought.

You could apply some logic as well such as the player whose second putt was closer to the hold. Ultimately there doesn’t have to really be anything specific, just something agreeable to everyone. Having multiple people holding the snake and doing payout at the end would also be an option.

My friends and I love betting games. It is kind of bad, but that's another story. Still, we make bets on http://lambo2btc.com/litecoincasino. Whoever loses their bet needs to pay the bill next time we go out. The main rules are: 1. You can't bet on the same bet as others. 2. Everyone screenshots once the bet is done. 3. The bill shouldn't be more than 1000$. It's pretty simple and we've been playing this game for a while. Whoever refuses to pay the bill is ignored for like a month lol. I have lost only once and it was the worst time. It was before de 1000$ rule and my friends ordered food worth 5000$. My bank account cried after that transaction lmao.
