Go Huskies!

I actually played in a charity tournament in Mequon where you were paired with a Bucks player. My guy was Jon McGlocklin who had been a favorite player of mine as a high school kid and was then the Bucks announcer. Our second hole was the long drive hole and I ripped a good one. We laughed as I wrote my name on the card knowing what and who was coming after us. Jon was telling us that Ray Ray was learning to play and could hit it a mile. Well a funny thing happened - a weather front came in - we had rain for an hour and when we went back out it was very wet and the wind was howling in the opposite direction. We had forgotten about my drive until they called my name during the banquet afterwards.

The look on the faces of those pro athletes was priceless as I came up to claim my prize. :)

None, really. No Detroit sports guys known for their golf.

The Red Wings always hosted a fundraiser tournament during the summer at the cc where I used to work and it was always a VERY fun day to meet those guys and watch them play. My favorite day each summer, work-wise, back in the day!!!

I think golf at the highest level is much tougher than anyone realizes.

Tight fairways, thick rough, slick firm greens, hidden pins and guys or gals who know how and when to attack under any condition.

It looks so easy on TV and some of those top athletes can get very good at their home club - but it's hard to offset the advantage the experience brings to the pro golfer.

I don't remember.

I think all were close to scratch or better in the late 90's early 2000's though.

Andre iggy always liked him on the sixers even though he had tough years with them. I also like jr smith as a golfer not a basketball player guy stinks.. but I do think the game grows with guys like this wanting to play. Kids may not think the game is boring if guys like Steph curry and JR smith enjoy the game as much as they do

I'm from the Midwest and a Reds fan, but I'm a honest guy and have to say that is a trio of great pitchers and good golfers.

While I am not a basketball fan and would be hard pressed to name many of the current professionals, I did see Stephen Curry on Feherty's show.  Later I watched him play in what I think was a Web.com event.  He has game.  Based on those, he seems like a really nice guy and would be fun to be around.  I think if he started playing in the celebrity events, it would be good for the game and could help expose the game to youngsters.

I'm pretty sure that Johnny Bench made a run at the Champions (then Senior) Tour.

I'm sure that Mike Schmidt did as well. Two all time greats from the same era - most say that Schmidt is the greatest third baseman of all time (agreed). A few still cling to Bench as the greatest catcher (I'm in that dwindling camp.)

MARK RYPIEN

Come on guys. He won the Super Bowl for the greatest team ever (twice), won American Century tournament in Tahoe (twice), and competed to the end of Big Break.

He's a big guy with a compact swing and even took a run at the Tour.

Greatest team ever ??? Didn't know Rypien played for the Patriots.

I remember seeing him on television and was amazed how much success he had with the way he swung the club.  Really goes to show that every swing is unique and there is no 'perfect'.

When i chaired the practice area for a Web.com event, on Pro/Am day, I had the good fortune to meet Mark Rypien and Joe Theismann and spend some all too brief time with them.   I made sure to thank them for providing us Skins fans for some long ago fond memories.  Its good to see them playing in golf events, because it reminds us that once upon a time...........
