StrokerAce 10,474
Not sure if you guy caught this or not but they're adding floodlights to the course for the Omega Dubai Desert Classic. tony@CIC 16,733
Wow that's a way to extend playing time. I've skied under lights but never any other sport. Why not - they do it in baseball all the time. MDGolfHacker 7,012
I;ve hit a ton of balls at night at a driving range under lights...hard to tell how far you hit the ball and I'm sure the nuances on the greens would be difficult to see. Isn't there a course in Myrtle that has 9 holes lit ? MDGolfHacker Quote What's In This Lefty's Bag? Kenny B 23,085
Angel Park GC in Las Vegas has a 9-hole lighted course along with 2 championship courses. It's a different feel under the lights. Why do I remember a tournament that Tiger won in the dark when they turned on headlights to light up the green?? 2 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
GolfJunkie302 2,232
Always wanted to play at night. Seems like it would also attract non-golfers or golfers who work all day, and therefore increase profit. It would be awesome for a golf marathon -- you would have no excuse to head in early! Berg Ryman 3,552
I know in the past Rick Shiels and Mark Crossfield have both filmed vlogs at Night Golf places in the Middle East. I thought it was really cool and would love to try it. HardcoreLooper 5,098
There's a scruffy little par 3 course near my house that's lit at night. It's lots of fun to play if you don't mind crappy conditions. I'd love to play 18 on a decent course under the lights. I've often wondered why courses don't at least light up 8, 9, 17 and 18. They'd get several more groups out onto the course paying greens fees. 2 Quote What's in the bag: Driver - F8 - Aldila NV Blue 60 ( S ) 3 Wood (16*) - F8 - Aldila NV Blue 60 ( S ) 4 Wood (17*) - Big Bertha S2H2 - RCH 90 "Firm" 4i - PW - D7 Forged - Recoil 760 ( S ) GW - LW - F8 - N.S. ole gray 16,316
Last summer while on vacation in the Destin Florida area, we played a nine hole course that was lit up for night play. It was a par 3 course although a few of the holes were out of reach for my my longest iron so hybrids were required. We had a blast! STUDque 11,841
Why do I remember a tournament that Tiger won in the dark when they turned on headlights to light up the green??Say no more fam. I think you're thinking of the Monday Night Golf Series put on by Tiger. It was an match play event they had from 1999-2005 and 2012 where Tiger would pick one other golfer to match up with in an unofficial exhibition with a decent purse. I'd love to see an expanded version of this for a full field but I understand why the limitations are too great to keep it going. This was before I started playing golf but I remember catching some of it and was amazed at the ball flight you could see. Shot tracer version zero. ......and if you weren't thinking of this event, at least it still fits the thread topic https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monday_Night_Golf#2001_Battle_at_Bighorn Sent from carrier pigeon using MyGolfSpy Quote In my Pisa, riding on a 3.5+ G410+ EXS 5W King F7 Hy i500 5-GW Equalizer 56/60 Heppler Ketsch

ddryan 1,213
My experiences in that part of the world- either play November thru March, or play at night- too darn hot to play in the day! Back during the first Gulf War, prior to the ground invasion, we were located adjacent to an airfield being constructed by the Bechtel Corporation- and they had a 4 or 5 hole course- you carried a pitching wedge, putter, towel and a turf mat to hit from. You hit from a tee area, then carried the mat to your next shot and so forth. The greens were oil soaked sand, so putting was slow, bumpy, but at least it was golf! think I played 2 or 3 times while waiting for the ground war to start... 2 Quote What's in the bag? deejaid 3,936
There was a course here in the Bay Area called Sunol Valley that opened in 1967 with lights. They had old photos in the clubhouse of the course lit up for night play. I played there alot in the mid 2000's and some of the tall light poles were still there, although the lights were gone. Unfortunately, Sunol Valley shut down in 2015. Bummer, it was a nice walking course with two 18 hole tracts.
