From the most useless sheep dog I've ever owned. Banned from the farm now. The border collie learnt that the game of sheep herding is over once they're in their pen, so keep them away from it! Had a few issues with the livestock being banged about before Tex got banned from helping out.

In the early days of Saturday Night Live, there was one skit called “the adventures of mr Bill.” They were claymation creatures. They’ve have a real nice time for a minute until “Sluggo” showed up, and he would squish them all. Then it somehow got stuck to me during my softball years

When I bought my first computer, I had also caught the Chronic Golf Bug, and winter was around the corner. I found a Golf Forum on line and they asked for a screen name. It caught me by surprise and started looking around while thinking.

I bought my comp. from MDG Electronics. That was the easy part. The empty boxes were still laying around the basement. I didn't want to give the impression that I am a boxer since I'd been into Karate most of my life. (mdgboxes) I also didn't want to be a smarta$$ by adding 3 X, so I added two.

There you have it: mdgboxx

You're about 15 days too early with that one 😉

My best friend all throughout high school was Christopher. We looked very much alike, so much so that at a marching band competition his grandmother took an entire roll of pictures of me, thinking I was her grandson. His family commented we were so similar that we could be interchangable, and I was there so often they combined our first names and I ended up as Russtopher sometime around 1990 or so. It caught on with our friends and that's been my nickname ever since.

In 1987 as as 16 year old, I worked the summer at Jester Park Golf Course in Granger, Iowa. I have been playing my brother's set of Power Bilt Levelume irons. Now that I was employed and at a golf course, I wanted to buy my own set of clubs. I wanted the Spalding Tour Editions but the course pro did not carry Spalding. He was a Titleist guy so I bought the Titleist Tour Models in the chrome finish; wanted satin but did not have any. Retail on the 3-PW was $300 but I received the employee discount and paid $250. Took many hours  making $4/hour to save up that much. First round I played and I birdied the hole. I still have the irons and still play them. I did pick up a set of the Spalding Tour Editions. So Titleist87 is my user name in reference to when I bought my own set of irons.

I shot my first round in the 70's in 2005ish (a 76 on a short 9 hole course on the base where I was stationed in Turkey).  I shot a 77 on the course at McGuire AFB in 2010.  After a layoff of 5+ years, I returned to the game in the autumn of 2016, grinded for a couple years to get the game back, and finally had my best year ever last year putting up 4 rounds in the 70's... 75, 78, 78, and 79.  Now, I've rebuilt my swing in an effort to get better and, as expected, my scores have skyrocketed for the time being and I'm "seeking70's" again.

I'm performing a bit of threadomancy, but why not....

So, explaining my ID....   it stems from a sarcastic nickname a friend of mine pinned on me.  Her crack was "oh yeah, you're the energizer bunny."

I'm bowling in league a couple days later.  It's during a time when you kept score by hand.  I had a habit of occasionally writing down creative things, or not very creative things, for people's names on the scoresheet.  Remembered my friend's comment.  Decided to play around with it a bit, in a "hooked on phonics on acid" sort of manner.  Came up with what you see here.

It was actually N.R.Jyzr, dropped the periods.

There you go, short story made long.  Some have assumed it had something to do with New Jersey, but I've never been there.  🙂

My last name is Howard. My good friend/best man called me any number of nicknames based on my last name throughout college including Howitzer, Hoboy, Hobertina, and Hobert among others. At some point he settled on Hobert.  As the the need for online aliases arose, I used Hobert and never stopped.

Thanks to @jlukesfor making me think of this thread. With so many new members coming on board it is often oldie, but good threads like this get forgotten or lost, but they are great ways to learn a bit about some of the members here and share your own stories.

I've gone from Danbrook (last name) to Apolloshowl (link to my pup Apollo's howl below) and now GolfSpy_APH. Which is just short for Apolloshowl.

IMG_20190524_192517~3.jpg

When I decided to change to Apolloshowl there were a lot of life things going on. Apollo has been my best bud for going on 8 years now and simply brings so much joy. Even though we have 3 dogs now he is still my shadow and my comfort. I have a wonderful wife who is incredible and when Apollo took to her so quickly I knew she was a keeper. Therefore it was easy to dedicate my name to him and for anyone who has read any of my reviews you will be able to spot pictures of him in the background or in the case of my strokelab review he was in the middle of the mat while trying make my videos! Either way moving to a GolfSpy tag it was a easy choice to stick with him. He is also the name of all my fantasy teams and the abbreviated form is APH.

Love the video, and you know I really think Apollo is just freaking adorable. I just let my wife watch this and she absolutely melted hearing him speak.

My puppies on the other hand..."Stranger Danger!"
