JohnSmalls
Hey guy, one of my best friends has been looking at buying an Optishot for at least a year now, and is getting ready to pull the trigger. Have you tried an Optishot or do you currently own one? Do you like it? What do you like or dislike about it? How is the durability? If you could do it over would you buy it again or would you look at a different product? GolfJunkie302
Have not used one but have done quite a bit of research on simulators. Optishot is not going to be very accurate. If I remember correctly, it really only tracks the speed of the clubhead, and which direction it's pointing at impact. Something like SkyTrak is going to be far more accurate, but the price tag is also a little larger, plus you have to pay for a subscription to play real courses. IMO, save up for a SkyTrak. Superior overall. TSauer
Agree with GolfJunkie, my vote is for SkyTrak. I was just doing simulator research earlier today and I'll quote this: “Optishot is a club tracker. Club trackers are less accurate than ball trackers, as they estimate what the ball is doing opposed to measuring what the ball is doing.†Driver: Aerojet 9* | Hzrdus Black Gen 4 Fairway: G410 3W 13* | Alta CB 65 Hybrid: TS2 18* | Tensei AV Blue 70 S Hybrid: iCrossover 20* | Kai'li White 80 Irons: P790 5-PW | DG S300 Wedges: Vokey SM9 | 52, 56, 60 | DG S200 Putter: Link.1 | Accra x LAB --- LAB Golf Link.1 Review ---
jjdam
I like the optishot for keeping a swing grooved during the winter. I like to swing irons using foam balls at the simulated range. For the rest the results are too erratic but for irons it's awesome. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

MGoBlue100
You're going to have several forum members attending the PGA Show this week. Maybe request some comparison info re: simulators? HardcoreLooper
It's more like a fun golf video game than a useful training aid. This. I have one of these, and I rarely use it. My kids both play, and they rarely use it. Especially now that we have fairly ready access to a Trackman. golfergirl1
we use our Os a lot. It's more for fun than true gold analysis. the biggest frustration is that inaccuracy of the wedge game. I have tweaked my club sets to try to match my stats and distances, adjusted the lighting and used clubs that show a good reflection, but it is very inconsistent around the greens, using a wedge...have to cross my fingers that it's even 50% accurate. We make use of the "mulligan' option a lot because the readings can be off. When it's up and running fairly consistently, it's a total blast and we play some fun course. We use the Sporinia ret and a protector for display on the target net. It's not too fancy, but t works great and it's fun. I can spend some time taping my clubs and adjusting the light and maybe taping, but chances are, I'll play and use mulligans as a way to get my accuracy...putting is not too bad...I've upped my driving, so that's kind of fun. MWGolf23
I've been close to pulling the trigger on OptiShot and held off. I want different information and quality to help improve. Dream would be a GCquad, but more realistic dream is SkyTrak and would prefer over Flightscope. Want to see my ball flight on a screen when indoors and I think SkyTrak would be a blast. frackh
Might be late to the discussion here but I've used both. Bought the Optishot 2, while it's useful to get your swing path grooved in, it wasn't too useful outside of that. I can't even say that the club head speed is accurate enough to be taken seriously and forget about ball speed & spin. Sold that off after buying the SkyTrak. The Skytrak cost a bit more but well worth the price, especially during the winter months. But for the fraction of the cost of the GCQuad/GC2, it's perfectly slotted for the avid home user. While it doesn't measure the club face impact or swing path, the ball speed & flight path is pretty accurate. You can add the SkyPro device to get decent club head speed reading. I think if the Mevo can be integrated into a range software and/or the simulator software (i.e. TGC, JNPG) it might get significant market share of the home launch monitor market. To update my original post, said friend ended up deciding against an optishot and opted for buying an R-motion instead with a projector + screen for his setup. So far he seems pleased with it and it allows him to get a quick round in. He has said that it is accurate enough for what he uses it for. I'm itching to go test it out myself. Lee Carvallo
If price and measurement accuracy is a factor I would rather get a good quality video camera setup. I mean its fun to have a visual of a course, but if its not accurate whats the use.
