GolfJunkie302
Another thing to note... Having fun actually improves your performance. Lower scores are a byproduct of having fun. kardboard.kid
I will add, my personality may be abrasive to some, as I speak what I feel. Ultimately whether or not you have lost the desire to play rests on you. Everyone has had frustration with their game. That's part of what makes us humans. We all want perfection and that carries over into recreational activities and hobbies as well. Why do you think we try new clubs, balls, shoes, even tees? Because we think it will add yardage, make us hit straighter, longer, etc... I think you get the point. So even if you would leave golf, eventually you will hit that frustration point again with the next thing. My final advice, be very careful and identify the root cause of your frustration. You may be amazed to find it has nothing to do with golf. Charli
if it's a time issue take a little break it won't hurt. Maybe you need a break to ignite the flame again. It happens to me with lifting weights. You just get run down and expect certain things to happen and if they don't it's frustrating. I get it and why I take a little vacation. I end up missing it and come running back with a new outlook and motivation.
STUDque
There is no 'i' in quit. At least not in your version. That means you're still all in. Go have some fun man! Find 3 guys and sign up for some scrambles. Mix in some beers throughout the day and you'll be loving golf again in no time. BHLong
Totally get it. Lots more variables as life goes on. Favorite golf buddies move on, age makes 18 holes physically painful, single digit handicap doubles...They all get frustrating but it comes down to finding new reasons to enjoy the game. Take a break, reassess what your goals are and head back. I find that WHO I play with means far more than achieving my personal best as I get older. Gg Owen
Many have quit this game. And I think the number one cause is the time factor. Many just dont have the availability to give three to four hours each time out.Even squeezing in nine holes is difficult for many
Brjpool
I will say if that is your feeling than do it, walk away. Golf is supposed to be fun and if your not enjoying yourself than maybe it is time. I can also say that if you are not enjoying yourself, then your buddies playing with you probably aren't having fun with you either. It's not fun to play with someone who isn't enjoying themselves. Maybe it'll be for good or maybe you'll be back someday. Crashtestdummy
Been playing for 40+ years since I was 5 and went though quite a few times where I felt that. The problem is I can't sit idle and always have to do something active so golf keeps driving me back to practice then to the course. Golf is constantly a roller coaster of a game. HardcoreLooper
I basically quit when I went to college and chose not to try out for the team (because I thought I wouldn't make it). I'd play a couple of rounds a year, even though I continued to work at the club and caddy during the summer. Once I got out of school and started working and making a little money, I picked it back up. My handicap was double what it was in high school, and I finally had to realize that I just wasn't good enough to warrant getting mad. And once I made peace with that, I started having fun again. I now play a fair amount, and I'm almost as good as I was in high school. But I have to remind myself that I'm still really not all that good. So still no need to get mad.
