HIGH SCHOOL?

Damn, I was already retired then!

No wonder our perspectives sometimes fly by one another!

I believe I just graduated college when the 200 series came out. Like I said said I was a TaylorMade and Cleveland wedge guy up until two years ago.

And believe me, everyone knows your perspective on the equipment

... I never liked the idea of paying a premium price for a cast 8620 wedge so I never played Vokey's. Had Scratch wedges in the bag for many years but made the mistake of having them finished and hated the chrome Iron Factory used. Supposed to be satin but it was a very shiny satin. Anyway, needed a 52 after picking up my P790's and the gap between my pw and 54* was too big and found a SM6 that looked new in the used bin for $79 so I took a chance. Liked it so much I picked up the 58D in Phoenix to replace my Harry Taylor 58* because I wanted more bounce in that wiry bermuda and absolutely love the D Grind.

... I will never confuse my Vokey's with Select 1018 Scrtach wedges for soft feel but admit I was surprised how good these new Vokey's feel and they are much softer than the hard chrome Vokey's of the 90's.

Have had to play out of some wet, compact sand with all of the rain we've been having. The D grind continues to surprise me with its versatility on tighter lies

What kind of launch do you get? What shaft did you go with? I'm sure you've said somewhere but I don't remember.

Play the same shaft I have in my irons. Project X LZ 6.0.

I'm able to control the trajectory based on ball position, shaft lean and swing

I can't feel the difference in my hands between cast and forged or between stainless and carbon steel..

I'm not suggesting that the difference in feel doesn't exist.

It probably if not certainly does if so many players say that it does.

It just doesn't exist for my battered and abused hands.

But I did have a bad experience with Scratch and some guy named Ari before they folded.

I was about to spend serious money on a three or four wedge set--i forget which, now.

I followed all of the Scratch protocols in stating my preferences, but I had one special request.

I wanted very aggressive, non-conforming box grooves machined into the wedges, and I was willing to pay extra for that.  I was acting out against the USGA groove rule changes.

Ari said that they'd do it but only with the raw steel finish. I didn't want the raw finish, and Ari refused to take the order.

Then they went out of business.

I wonder why.

When you charge those prices, you've got to go the extra step for your clients.

No we can't, jlukes.

chisag mentioned Vokeys and Scratch wedges, and I had a comment about them.

If you don't like my posts, don't read them and then you won't feel the need to comment on them.

You're a smart-assed kid who isn't about to tell me,

who played golf well before you were born,

what to post or what not to post.

And now you're starting to piss me off.

I'm just trying to keep threads on topic because people come to this site to look for information on new equipment.

I can't say enough good things about the D grind so I'd say go for it

I've been playing volleys for years. Carry a 52, 56 & 59 in my bag. I purchased the black finish SM7 52 about a month ago and have been enjoying it since! Same consistent results and feel from my SM6 (which disappeared on a golf trip 😔)

b. Driver specs - stiff flex, 8.5 Degree TaylorMade R7 SuperQuad
