DonPintin
Hi All, I'm sure this has been talked about plenty of times before, but I have a question which I'm sure some experienced heads out there can help me out with. I've been practicing golf club stamping and I am getting 'OK' at it, practice makes perfect I'm sure. I have been using 5 mm stamps which i think are too big, so planning on buying some 3 mm ones, which i think will give a better result. My question is, what depth stamps are available and what are best for this task? All i can seem to find are 1 mm depth, which might be OK, but i wanted to get opinions on it before i purchase them. Thanks in advance. DonPintin
Kor.A.Door
I've done very little myself, I've found that the 1/8 inch stamps work best, I've got 1/4 inch as well and they eally don't work at all. There is a video at Callaway where their custom guys shows stamping, and it's a pretty good watch. He talks about where he gets his stamps from, and demonstrates some stamping. There's guys on here that do this stuff a lot, be patient, one of them will answer with exactly what you need. I am going to keep my eye to this as well since I'm interested in doing more myself. JAGolfore
Here is a link to the stamps I use. They are 3/16â€. They work well. I have some old wedges that I practice on. Keys is to make sure you have the club secure. You have to make solid contact and most of all do not rush. Will it come out perfect no but that's part of the point. https://m.lowes.com/pd/K-Tool-International-Number-and-Letter-Stamp-Set/50374284?cm_mmc=SCE_PLA_ONLY-_-ToolsAndHardware-_-SosAtg-PowerTools-_-50374284:K_Tool_International&CAWELAID=&kpid=50374284&CAGPSPN=pla&k_clickID=82ae641f-10be-41b5-a099-57aac4cb8d34&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIvuntgr392AIVg7fACh1yeQFoEAQYBiABEgKvMPD_BwE Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy Driver: Callaway Rogue 9* FW: Sub 70 Pro 4 wood Hybrid: Sub 70 949 Hybrid 19* Irons: Sub 70 659 CB 4 - 6 Black 639 MB 7 - PW Wedges: Sub 70 JB - 50* 54* & 60* Putter: Odyssey White Hot #2 Ball: Titleist Pro-V1x Handicap index: +3.9 Instagram: joshandersongolf Twitter: @jacustomgolf

hckymeyer
Find a friend with stamps and have them do it. Buy a set of stamps and DIY. See if any of the guys on here with stamps can help you out, but you'll probably pay in shipping what a set of stamps costs. Honestly I'd just pick up a set of stamps and start practicing. It's not super hard to do either. I'd just recommend finding an old wedge to practice on first. Rtracymog
I tried some ball markers last year and it turned out pretty good. Tough to get everything to line up exactly and I had some issues trying to get the paint to stay and not smear. I know the letters were deep enough because the ball markers were soft, but it was a struggle for me. Any suggestions would help. I've got some old wedges that i plan on doing this to as well, so I'm following intently! TSauer
I bought these last year, but haven't done much work with them. Will hopefully be getting around to that this weekend or next. Just make sure you have the wedge, or whatever it is your stamping stable. JTexGolfer
I tape my clubs down to an anvil to keep them in place, then I put a strip of duct tape on the club and then lightly stamp what I think I want in the tape. If I like it then I have something there to help me recenter the stamp for some good solid strikes. If not I pull the tape and start over till I'm happy. Takes a little longer but some of these clubs are really hard metals and I had some bad ghosting when I first started. Getting better every time. Patience is the key. 400 Driver (8*) UST ATTAS Punch 6S F6 Baffler (16*) Matrix Red Tie 65Q4 816 H1 Hybrid (21*,23*) Diamana S+ Blue 82 HY Z765 (5-PW) +2* Aerotech Steelfiber i110cw Vokey SM5 50.08F 54.10M Aerotech Steelfiber i110cw PM Grind 60* Dynamic Gold S400 TR 1966 Anser 2 Z Star ball Pioneer Cart Bag

Kor.A.Door
I will say, go with 1/8†size, any big won't stamp correctly, and 1/8†is bigger than you think on the wedge. I am no expert, but you need to be able to keep the club head from moving while stamping. It's not difficult to do. It sucks when the head slips. I bought a set of stamps at Harbor freight, for about 12 bucks. I also bought a 4 lb hammer. It can be done pretty inexpensive. He's the reason I'm trying to do it myself after following him on twitter. I got the sharpie oil based pens he talked about and did a pretty decent job on one of my wedges, just think the text looks larger than what he uses, but it doesnt mention depth (maybe 1mm is the only depth you can get??) Also, that magnet thing he uses is great, been searching high and low for something similar but with no luck - I too will look into this junkyard microwave thing. HAMMER217
I tried stamping my Vokey and it was much harder than I expected. I used a clamp to secure it to my work bench and painters tape to keep the stamp in place, to no avail. I'm not sure whether it was because the wedge was pretty old, because it was cold, or if it was operator error, but I couldn't even stamp a single letter without some major ghosting. I just got the new SM7 Vokeys so maybe I'll give it another shot on the old wedge before I attempt it on the new ones. 9 index - 30 years old - Dallas, TXWITB: Driver: Cobra F8 (10.5°) with Aldila NV 2KXV Green 65 stiff (45.75") 3w: Cobra F8 (15.5°) with Aldila NV 2KXV Blue 60 stiff (43.5") 5w: Taylormade R11S (19°) with Aldila RIP Phenom 70 stiff Irons: Titleist 718 AP3 4-5 with Nippon NS 950 GH stiff Titleist 718 AP2 6-Gw (1° strong) with Nippon NS 950 GH stiff Wedges: Titleist Vokey SM7 (54.08M & 58.08M) with Nippon NS Pro 950 GH stiff Putter: Scotty Cameron Studio Stainless NewportBall: Taylormade TP5x *My grandfather’s MacGregor persimmon for good luck "Read it, Role it, Hole it"
