Callaway vs Titleist Ball War!

I like how Callaway copied Wilson who “copied” Volvik with the colorful golf balls, yet Wilson had those back way before Volvik was a thought. Did Wilson call out Callaway? I haven't seen it, I wish they would.

Dude Cmon. Companies steal ideas all of the time. Callaway didn't call out Titleist for coming out with a soft compression ball. They called them out for deceiving their customers by comparing a Surlyn distance ball with Urethane Tour balls.

Well... it sounds like a test is in order.

My point was, Wilson took that one on the jaw and didn't say a word.

This won't turn into much, just kids throwing rocks. All be it soft rocks. Titleist has claimed top spot for a long time but I know a lot of guys have gone away from the Pro V's and went to something else even me. It's like everything else you can't stay on top for ever someone's going to knock you off the hill eventually.

Yeah, I'll read that when I get around to it.

I'm talking a head to head, Chrome Soft 2018 vs Tour Soft 2018

I wish the ball war would translate into discounted prices. Maybe every time they introduce a new version of a ball they would discount the old version kinda like drivers - let's say 2017 pro v1 at half the price of 2018 pro v1. Now that would be fun to see.

Titleist has a problem here: they're trying to sell a 2pc distance ball for $35/doz. They need some way to justify that price point and IMHO this ad is one attempt to do that.

To say anybody stole the coloured golfball idea from Volvik is oversimplification. They weren't first to do it either.

What I don't understand about the Titleist commercial is the graph where they rank feel. How do you possibly make a graph of something so subjective and pretend it's fact?

Any bit of info can be construed into what ever you want it to say.

You could put Chevy vs Ford. Then a sub category of how the seats felt, and what color you liked best, even down to the stitching. Then pull data from that and make a graph look how you want it to.

No kidding. Doesn't anyone remember Jerry Pate rocking the orange Prostaff in like 1980? And Titleist throwing orange and yellow 384 DTs out there immediately after that

Back in HS in the late 70's Wilson & Titleist had orange balls.

I can't remember who come out first, but I played the orange Pro Staffs first.

To THEIR ball. So I guess Callaway was justified to reply.

I would side with Titleist right to reply if Callaway called their drivers out for always being a release late in the latest technology.

We all know the other OEMs are just trying to meet the standard that Titleist set in the ball industry! While Callaway has a point in comparing the ball construction, Titleist equally has a valid point in putting the info in fine print to try to market a more affordable ball. At this point, everyone is just trying to "reinvent the ball"

I'm trying hard not to imagine the utter chaos that might ensue if Pro V1s were half-price for the next year or so. It'd almost be like the Kirkland Signature ball all over again!!

Curious to see where that AVX sits. I'm guessing in the “Way too much” category.
