ddryan
Brother from another Mother! Thanks for the info and looking forward to your friend's take on magnesium. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy The VA gave me a sound machine that I've used. Sounds like ocean waves, rain on tin roof, creek flowing over pebbles etc. I'll let you guys know how that magnesium stuff works. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy OG- sorry, I should have been more specific - HH6 is HouseHold 6, (commander of the house- AKA Wife, SWMBO) Thanks Wahoo for helping out!! So, regarding Magnesium, unfortunately there is no known cure to tinnitus - however, a balanced diet, with normal supplements cant hurt. The bigger issue, as I mentioned earlier, is hydration- when you are dehydrated, the tinnitus will probably be worse. Using sound generating machines can help, especially when you are trying to sleep, but make sure you are hydrated and have water near the bed (and remember, beer is not a good substitute for water, despite what they believe in southern Germany)- Good luck and let me know, because HH6 actually suffers from it as well- from too much loud music thru head phones in the 1980's... ole gray 1 Quote What's in the bag? Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy Yesterday I went to for my yearly physical / checkup at the VA. I thought the GP doc would update my records so tinnitus would be flagged. It's only annoying when I am in a really quiet place. I'm looking at hearing aids this year that have a masking affect so I should be good to go. I told them old boys I play golf with not to fart too loud or they would blow my hearing aids out. It depends on whether the VA will cover the cost. If not then I'll keep on keeping on as you learn to deal with stuff like that. Slap
I have a mild case due to playing and practicing live music for over a decade now. But I only notice it at night or when its quiet. Have you tried ingesting dandelion root? It helped a bit for me but again mines not too bad. You can drink it as a tea, dry the root yourself and eat it or get the extract of it at a grocery store. And please let us know how it works Gray, just give it at least two weeks I'd say. If you get a mild upset stomach just lower your dosage. CFrazier
Being an old vietnam vet I've had to deal with ringing in my ears for years. War is hell on the ears with gun fire and loud explosions to deal with on a constant basis. Some days my tinnitus is worse than others. It spikes and at times the ringing noise in my head is overwhelming. I just heard recently that magnesium helps so I'm going to check with my doc to see if she can recommend a daily dose. I'm pretty sure hard liquor causes mine to spike and beer actually helps to soothe the ring. Not sure why one seems to help and the other aggravates it. I had some bourbon a couple days ago and the ringing spiked up to a 7 out of 10 type range. I'm trying to keep a mental note of foods etc. that cause spikes. The good news is golf is great for tinnitus as the time I spend on the course helps me forget the ringing. Also my four days per week at the gym is another time where my focus on exercise helps a ton. Anyone else living with this and if so how do you deal with it?I'm in the same boat.
