I figured you were asking how to play from where you are standing. I think that playin for 4 in his situation is the best option, so where ever you need to play the bunker shot, is where you feel you can get up and down from the majority of the time if that's to the right off the front then you play it there if it's left off the back then you play here. I think what's missing in the photo is any trouble to the left and right that we cannot see. As i said you play for 4 and try to make a great 3. Yes - I agree with that assessment - I'd hate to be a lefty there also - the stance to play off to the right, the safe place, would be difficult. Left is near dead but you can't see it from the picture. I had already hit my shot out even farther right than pictured here. I left myself about 30 feet which I two putted. The picture was from where my ball lay in the bunker. Peaksy68
Strokeplay I'd play away from the hole, anywhere on the green is good. Stableford or Par, depends how many shots left before I can't score. If it's 2, try for the pin, if 3 aim as for strokeplay. Last round of a significant competition and a couple of shots behind, go for it, a couple in front conservative. Matchplay, all depends on what my opponents up to. If it's a social round, go for glory, I can always buy another ball. 849 Pro Evenflow Riptide 6.0 F8 3 & 5 Woods Project X Evenflow Blue 6.0 TS2 7 Wood Project X Evenflow Blue 6.0 MP18 MMC - Project X LZ 5.5 Zipcore Wedges 50,54,58 - Project X LZ 5.5 MLA Tour Mallet 33" Z Star Pioneer bag buggy

Shankster
I would aim for that tall tree on the left or left of it. Open stance and clubface on the 57° with an extreme out to in swing path. Ball will be below my feet so it's going right anyways. Should have a bit of spin with a large swing, goal would be to land it on the fringe and have it turn right on landing, preferably in the hole. SuperDave
Open up the 58 and visual a nice soft flop landing just on the fringe and trickling down to the hole. Then blade it in to the water and take my drop and try to get up and down from the other side for double Thats what I would do except my bladed shot would hit the bunker lip, come back down and roll into the divot in the sand I just made and end up at least an inch deeper than before. Now if it's a long bunker shots with force carry, I'd play away for sure. So now you have to come down and take the challenge. The round would be on me as would the drink if you pull off the shot. Right now I think a tour pro could pull it off. They've slowed the greens a bit because of the heat. I don't see a tour player, even a solid one, shooting at that pin under tournament conditions. When I showed it to one of our tour (retired) players on my phone he laughed and said - only on 18 if I needed to get up and down to make the cut. Sent from my Pixel using MyGolfSpy mobile app There was OB backwards so that option would be out - it's straight downhill from the trap to the OB I'm sure to punish a big hitter who is going for the green in two. At any rate the smart play was and is always away from the pin towards the front of the green - there's a tier there with a backstop formed by one of the front traps. Leave yourself 30 feet, 2 putt and try to make birdie on the next hole.
