2018 Fantasy Golf

I posted a little something about this in the 2017 Fantasy Golf thread but figured it would be best to start a fresh thread to truly gauge interest. I'd be happy to act as commissioner if this league comes together.

 

Fantrax seems to be our best bet for fantasy golf. They don't have an iOS app but do have Android and the website works very well on mobile.

Here's a quick rundown:

 

Entry Fee: Free

Prize: Bragging rights unless someone offers up

Format: Players Vote

Scoring: Default with maybe slight mods

Players: 10 min. No Max.

Playoffs: Same 4 weeks as Tour Playoffs

Season Start: ASAP but probably the Honda

Duration: Full season through Tour Championship

Let's see. So now we're at 9. I guess there's no hard deadline but it would be cool to get a league in place prior to the Honda. That way we can get a few matches in before the Master's.

 

Since there's hundreds of golfers, the more the merrier. So why don't we shoot for 15-20 MGS players?

 

 

I guess I could also offer up other scoring formats as well if anyone is interested. There's a few where you're just solo all season against the rest of the league instead of doing head to head matchups. Something like the Fed Ex Cup.

BIG RULE: Your team name MUST be some version of your MGS username. Doesn't have to be exact, just close. Want to make it easy to tell who is who.

Lastly, for those that have already joined, are you having trouble changing your team settings or have you just not played with it yet? I see a lot of teams that are just "New Team #"

Here's how I did it. I think it should look pretty similar whether you're on mobile or desktop.

 

 

1) Go to your team page

2) Tap the icon in the lower right

 

3) Tap the "gear" by preferences

 

4) Make changes as you see fit

This is another odd thing. They don't have their Android app in the Play Store. To get the app, you go to the website on your phone, and then check the very bottom of the page. There, you'll find a link for the Android app. It'll download, and you have to have the option of installing apps outside the Play Store enabled.

 

Not a fan of that kind of thing, to be honest. I'm not sure why they don't have their app in the normal Google store.

Fun fact, I tried the same thing on iOS and almost got it to download. At the last step it bumped me saying it's not available in the US.

 

This is probably why you've gotta do the "allow third party" thing on Android. May not be that it's a sheisty source but more because it hasn't released in America.

 

While the mobile website works well, an app would've been sooooo much better.
