What's your favorite golf YouTube channel?

You know what would be cool - a test!

Take a group of 5 players who do nothing but watch you-tube video instruction and another group of five who take lessons from a quality local teaching pro.

Guys must be willing to spend time practicing what they learn. Track them over a six month season and see what happens.

Interesting idea but I think the test would have to be weighted somehow. Are you talking total beginners or someone knowledgeable about the golf swing. I think the results would vary significantly. You may also want to ad a category of personalized online instruction where the lessons is tailored to your swing.

I think the biggest problem with online is making sure you are doing the drills correctly and knowing which drills apply to you. Really no different than reading he 100+ cure you slice tips from any golf magazine.

@cnosil

That is exactly why I have little doubt that the lesson group would do better regardless who the golfers are. The key is it must be a reputable local PGA pro.

With all due respect to alfriday I've had three such teachers in my life - none wanted to “fix” anyone's swing. All they wanted to do was help people play the best possible golf. However I know that there are guys out there like the guy you're describing. I think they have programs on you-tube. :)

And yes I absolutely agree that results may vary so that's why I'm saying take five for each group.

I would be happy to add a third group made up of folks who send videos and take lessons that way. I'd expect that group to finish in the middle. It may be the best option for some who don't have access to a reputable teacher.

Tour experience golf (TXG) is the only YouTube channel i am watching regularly. They content is well done and communicated at a level anyone can understand. They do a great job explaining what they do to get an optimal fit for clubs. Their videos may appear long if you just look at the times, but that time just flys by.

The bigger names have been covered, but I'll admit that I'm a fan of Scratch golf. He's only got about 5k subs but it's another play on a UK golfer trying to get to scratch. He's not sponsored, he takes the piss out of himself and it's interesting seeing him go on a journey that seems relatively realistic. Worth a watch.

I'm also a big Crossfield fan (I believe I mentioned that earlier in the thread. Congrats on getting mentioned in today's video, by frustrating Mark :)

Worth clarifying: I want to make sure I'm not coming across as taking a shot at you at all. It's cool to get a comment mentioned, even if Crossfield ends up taking issue with it.

I havent seen it tonight, what was the issue he had? He challenges a lot in his videos which is part of the appeal, I thought I asked something challenging also, shame if he has taken it the wrong way.

Nah, the gist of his answer was that never having seen your swing, he has no way of knowing whether the advice you're asking for is relevant to making you better.

I must confess I have become a bit of a YouTube addict. It first started with the changing of my rotors and break pads with the ole iPad sitting on the hood of the car. I then discovered Mark Crossfield, Peter Finch, Rick Sheils and Aimee Cho amongst many others.

It would be awesome to build and rate the best online Golf content. So if you have a favorite or favorites please jump aboard this thread. It can be any and all things Golf. I'll try to compile a list then post it in one singular source document for all.
