TheWahoo 3,505
As is my routine, I watch the Golf Channel as I prepare to greet the day. This morning, TGC reported that Bill Hass was involved in a fatal automobile accident. He was the passenger of a vehicle being driven by a gentleman with whom he was staying in order to play the Genesis tournament. It was reported to be a head on collision with a car being driven by an unidentified woman. At this writing, to the best of my knowledge, the cause of the accident has not been reported. Tragically, Haas' friend driving the car was pronounced dead at the scene. Haas apparently did not suffer any life threatening or major injuries and has been released from the hospital. The lady in the other vehicle is reported to be in serious condition. It was reported that a car driven by actor, Luke Wilson, was clipped by the car occupied by Haas. Wilson stopped and provided aid to Haas and the lady. Haas still has some minor leg pain and has withdrawn for the tournament, that and I am quite sure there are some emotional factors that he must address. My condolences to Bill Haas for the loss of his friend and to the family of his friend. I know this must be an emotional and tough experience for him. Hopefully, with the support of his family, his friends and fellow players, he will get through it.
MaxEntropy 6,515
Tragic I saw that actor Luke Wilson was also involved in a third vehicle. sixcat 3,577
I saw this earlier this morning with an ESPN notification on my phone. The ESPN coverage consisted of a detective on scene being interviewed by KTLA. He suggested speed was a contributing factor. Hopefully, everyone else involved can heal and deal with the residual effects.
Golfspy_CG2 25,102
Was coming here to post this as well. Always hate hearing about fatal car accidents, so often they are just the cause of carelessness or wrecklessness, You cant' take any simple short trips for granted these days. Thoughts and prayers to all involved. Amazing to hear Haas even walked out of the hospital. 4 Quote Bag: Bennington Quiet Organizer 9-Lite (link) Cart: 3.5+ Driver: F9 speedback, Accra iWood Woods: Sonartec GS Tour 14*, Fujikura Six S DI: T-MB 2 iron, KBS Tour-V 120 X, Irons: PP-9003SN 4-GW, Nippon 1150GH Stiff Wedges: 1957 K-grind SW, LW, Nippon 1150GH Stiff Putter: EXO Indianapolis (link) Ball: MTB

downlowkey 3,872
Ripping around a residential area in your Ferrari is infantile decision making. I'm really glad that dolt didn't also drag Billy onto the Darwin Award podium and hopefully that poor woman makes a full recovery. PlaidJacket 7,723
I'd like to learn more about this whole episode. Sounds like Haas was damn lucky to have not been killed also. How did this whole event come about to begin with? Why was that actor involved and why? Were they just driving down the road minding their own business when suddenly they crashed and flipped? I don't think so. But I want to know... 2 Quote My Sun Mountain bag currently includes: 771CSI 5i - PW and PFC Micro Tour-c 52°, 56°, 60 wedges EXS 10.5*, 929-HS FW4 16.5* Willimette w/GolfPride Contour

The first article I read (CNN, I believe?) made it sound like the Ferrari made first contact with Luke Wilson's SUV, resulting in the accident with the lady's vehicle. Kor.A.Door 5,838
The guy that was driving was 71 years old, so it's not likely it was 2 thirty somethings out for a joy ride. I also would like to see or read more about what actually happened before making blanket statements about the incident. Quote Lefties are always in their Right Mind
